Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. The narration in this book is terrible! It grated and grated and gave me a headache. I tried and tried but each voice was just worse than the last! I have no idea what I was listening to because I couldn't get past the terrible job on the narration. Bummer because i really wanted to read/listen to this book. I gave up after an hour or so.

After a few attempts of trying to get into this audiobook, I unfortunately gave up after a few chapters.

I lost track of the characters that were being introduced, and nothing seemed to happen that gripped me.

‘The street party’ is a book that I would very much class in the ‘women's fiction’ genre. It is well narrated by three different talented female narrators, this works very well in a novel featuring three central female characters whom it is very useful to differentiate between so we are very clear from whose perspective we are hearing at any given point.

The plot focuses around the events that unfold following a street party in an affluent London setting whereby an allegation is made against one of the teenage children by another, and the effect this has on the relationship and the lives of these three main female characters.

This is an enjoyable, and despite some serious topics, lighthearted listen which feels contemporary and relevant. It is quite fun in that some of the story is narrated through blog-type posts.

I felt the characters to be likeable and well constructed with an appropriate amount of detail to allow me to envisage these characters and on the whole empathise with them.

Narration was good, although some of the slang used by the characters grated on me for some unfathomable reason!

Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this audio book to listeners of the women's fiction genre.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The Street Party is a very slow book. 60%ish was through before the "event" happens, but if you listen carefully there is a lot of story revealed in the previous chapters.

Story is of 3 women, 1 narrator was very annoying. I didn't like the Oz accent. then was confused by the South African accent, were they not both the same person? The number of characters mentioned make this confusing enough to not be sure. Rubys kids were also super annoying.

The book covers a lot hot topics, race, feminism, domestic abuse and more as it was based on three lead characters and they all had their own issue but eventually it was tiring to listen too.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the ARC, sorry this story was not for me.

The Street Party was a slow burn and felt like a long book. It did take a while for me to get into the story and in the end I really enjoyed it. 3 women with 3 very different lives - but how different are they? This is one street and group of people I would not want to live near.

I do have to say that the Aussie accent on the Australian character was not good at all - I don't think that I sound like that at all. Other than that the narration was enjoyable

This book was fab. It held lots of tension, was diverse and had me wanting to find out more.

It is told from 3 women’s perspectives and focuses on the lead up to a social event “The Street Party” which is also a political campaign for one of the main characters husband, and the events that happens during the party. This story is full of deceit, lies, blackmail, and how people will try to portray their lives to be something that they are not, and go to great lengths to prove that.

It was a bit of a slow burn to start but it’s worth persevering through. As the story unfolds you get a glimpse of the lives of three very different women and their family lives, and the troubles they have/are facing. With the street party intertwining them all together. There are different family dynamics involved in the book and I like the diversity and true-to-life attitudes and issues that the story has welcomed into its pages. It gives it a real modern day London feel, which the author has captured fantastically!

I enjoyed this audio book version which I switched between that and the ebook version. The narrator brought the story to life with her expressive narration and different character voices. She used difference accents and emotion in her reading and helped bring it to life for me. I found myself using a similar style of voice in my head, when reading through the ebook.

** I received an advanced copy of this audio book to listen to and review. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me this opportunity **

This book was right down my alley! The beginning started off a bit slow for me! But like many others it quickly picked up the pace and before I knew it I was done with this great thriller!
Really enjoyed this audio book! Thanks NetGalley Publishers and author for this great advanced readers copy

Highly recommended!
This story has plenty of twists and it’s told from the perspective of three women.

The book focuses on the organisation of the street party and the day of the party where an incident takes place. The narrative comes from three women from differing backgrounds, and highlights their differences.
The story is fast paced and kept my interest throughout, finishing it in two sittings. The story has intrigue and accentuates the issues in today’s society and the divisions within it.
The narration is excellent .
An enjoyable thought provoking read!

Thanks to NetGalley and W.F Howes Ltd.

The Street Party focuses on the events leading up to, including and following on fromThe Treet Party which is organised to raise money following a tragedy in the area.
However I just found it to be a mismatch of characters that were involved in the organisation of this event.
There didn’t seem to be anything that bonded all the characters except for this party. I didn’t feel attached to any particular character and actually struggled with the various underlying themes as I kind of felt they just got lost
I found the various attempts at accents of the characters to be extremely off putting and at times almost laughable to the extent I almost didn’t finish listening. The narrator that voiced Ruby was by far the best of a bad bunch I’m afraid to say

Good story, lots of plots to work through and a few surprises amongst them!

Really enjoyed the narrators on this one, I think they added a lot to the story that I wouldn't have gotten from reading it.

Thanks so much W.F. Howes Ltd, via Netgalley, for gifting me an audiobook copy - can't wait for more!

A neighborhood block party goes terribly wrong when a teenage girl accuses a boy of attacking her. Police are called in and the boy’s parents, believing him when he say he didn’t do anything wrong, let him talk to police without legal counsel. Told in the voices of three women who planned the party, this is a timely examination of male dominated culture and what happens when someone speaks out against it

The Street Party follows three women's families who come from different financial and racial backgrounds. Together, they organize an extravagant party for the neighborhood while juggling their own secrets. In the aftermath of the party, police get involved and the women have to figure out who is lying and who is telling the truth.

I found the book to be pretty intriguing for the most part. I felt for two of the mothers and the situations they found themselves in. The pacing of the book was great and really drove you to find out what happens. I found that the ending was somewhat predictable, not to say that there weren't plot twists that I for sure didn't see coming. Anyone looking for a nice thriller to get their blood pumping will thoroughly enjoy this one.

The audiobook was very well done and I loved the narration.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Rarely listened to a book with more poorly thought out stereotypes. It was cringeworthy and if it wasn’t for being on a long boring drive I would never have got past the first few chapters.
