It was okay. I enjoyed Adams' first book far more than this one. This one felt a bit too unbelievable.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams is a suspenseful thriller that keeps you turning the pages, but it’s not without its flaws. The premise is intriguing—Lena sets out to uncover the truth behind her twin sister's supposed suicide on a remote bridge—but the execution leaves much to be desired.

The novel is fast-paced, and there are moments of genuine tension. However, the plot is riddled with loopholes that are hard to overlook. Certain twists felt forced, and some of the characters' decisions made me roll my eyes more than once. It’s as if the story relies too heavily on shock value rather than believable developments.

Adams tries to build a cat-and-mouse game between Lena and the antagonist, but some of the scenarios felt implausible, pulling me out of the story. While Hairpin Bridge isn’t without its moments of excitement, the numerous plot holes and eye-roll-worthy scenes make it hard to fully invest in the story. If you're looking for a quick, suspenseful read and don't mind suspending disbelief, it might be worth picking up, but don’t expect a seamless thriller.

I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this book. The general premise is interesting, but the back and forth between stories and possible stories was a little confusing. It definitely kept me reading, but I thought that it was a little drawn out towards the end and could have been shortened. Overall, I liked It, but I found It a little confusing and wordy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

There is always one scene in a Taylor Adams book that haunts me. In No Exit it was finger. In this one it's the knees. Damn good writing and an exciting book of non-stop action and suspense. Highly recommend - and if you're like me you will finish it in a day.

The dual timelines between Lena's desperate search for answers and Cambry's unsettling past build suspense masterfully. Adams' writing is sharp and engaging, and the twists and turns had me guessing until the very end. Fans of Tana French and Gillian Flynn will devour this dark and atmospheric story.

I've read a few of Taylor Adams' novels before, and while I enjoy a good thriller, I have to admit that his books tend to be a bit too intense for my taste. "Hairpin Bridge" was no exception—it's filled with gruesome and violent scenes that had me squirming in discomfort. Adams doesn't hold back when it comes to depicting the darker aspects of human nature, and while I appreciate his ability to immerse readers in the heart of the action, I found myself wishing for a bit more restraint.

Despite my reservations, I couldn't deny that "Hairpin Bridge" kept me hooked from beginning to end. The mystery surrounding Lena's twin sister's death and her determination to uncover the truth had me eagerly turning the pages, desperate to know what would happen next. The story is rife with deception and denial, making it difficult to separate fact from fiction.

The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives, including Lena's imaginings of her sister's final moments, excerpts from Lena's blog, and glimpses into the thoughts of Officer Raycevic, the last person to see Camry alive. Each perspective adds depth to the story, but also raises questions about the reliability of the characters' accounts.

Overall, "Hairpin Bridge" is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that will leave readers on the edge of their seats. While it may be too graphic for some readers, those who enjoy a gritty and intense mystery will find plenty to enjoy. Thank you to NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick read that definitely had me unable to put it down and I couldn’t stop turning the pages until I reached the end. This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time and there were some twists that I didn’t see coming. Overall this was suspenseful and quite the enjoyable ride!

The characters were a little flat for me. I did keep turning the pages though. I would try something else by the same author because I did enjoy the writing style and I read another title by him that I adored.

3.5 ⭐️ although I didn’t enjoy this one as much as No Exit or The Last Word, it definitely kept me guessing until the very end. I wasn't sure where the recording story line was going to go, and I had no clue that there would be so much involved with the sheriff, so that was quite a surprise. I won't hesitate to pick up more from Taylor Adams in the future.

I didn’t expect to love this book like I did. The characters had depth and you were able to connect to them. I like how it slowly unravelled and you didn’t know the full story to the end, I liked how morally grey it was. The ending was a perfect combination of surprising and not surprising. The surprises weren’t saved just for the end but present in the middle as well. The plot was a simple idea that the author made delightfully complex.

Taylor Adams never disappoints with fast paced, bingeable and twisty thrillers! Not my favorite of his but I was hooked to finish it in 2 days.

Lena refuses to believe her sister committed suicide. There are too many questions and no one can give her the answers, so she decides to investigate herself. While not exactly an original story line, Taylor Adams did manage to sneak in a couple of twists that were unexpected. As she gets closer to what happened to her sister, the tension ramps up enough you'll have to finish the book, no "one more chapter" before bed. While this may not be the best thriller I've read in awhile, it's definitely a good one.

This book was such a fast paced thrill ride. I was kept guessing right up until the very end and I did not see the big twist coming. I read this book in one day and highly recommend for every thriller lover.

I was so excited for this read after loving No Exit. Hairpin Bridge was a fast page turner, and captivating at the start, but as the story developed, I struggled with staying interested with the descriptive fight scenes with the guns. The ending had a twist but left me wanting more. Overall, decent thriller but I was looking forward to something that matched the intensity of No Exit.

Intense, gripping, bloody, suspenseful, insane are all words I'd use to describe what I just read. I was up way past my bedtime to finish this one.

Lena's twin sister who has been traveling for the last year suddenly commits suicide. Lena refuses to believe it after an odd text from her sister the day she dies. Lena is determined to face Cambry's killer head on. Boy is she prepared and I am not even sure she is ready for all she uncovers!

This was a thriller with a blog narration happening at times. It was overall a really good twist and plot but I think that it could have been cut down a little bit. Every time I thought the story was over something else would pop up and it would continue. Overall, the ending blew me away and I was extremely shocked at the final twist that was thrown in.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams is a book that you can't put down. I kept saying one more chapter! Lena just can't believe that her sister would commit suicide. She's her twin so she would have known something was going on. So she does some investigating herself and even meets up with the state trooper who found her sister's body. Very suspenseful and I don't want to give anything away so you will have to read this one for yourself!!
