Such a great thriller that kept me intrigued from start to finish. I enjoyed this book as much as No Exit. The characters were easy to like and the story line from gripping.
I really liked No Exit. I thought it was fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat… this not so much. I didn’t think the plot was great to start off and then all the action seemed to just drag and not cause the same heart racing panic that the other book did. It just felt drawn out and predictable. It was a quick read though.
When this book very first started it felt promising and pulled me in but very, very soon after it just dragged the fuck on. This was one of my most anticipated books as I LOVED No Exit but I was overall not impressed. This book honestly felt like a chore to read. It was SO repetitive and was filled with a lot of filler that led nowhere. The book is broken into 3 parts and is primarily told from Lena’s POV but there are other POV’s at times. This entire book happens over the span of a day with a lot of unrealistic action. The chapters were extremely long and repetitive like the book. Honestly I finished this book and thought “wow I wish I could unread it and read something else”. I feel it was truly a waste of time and won’t be recommending but hey who knows, you might love it!

Thank you to Joffe Books and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an ARC for "Hairpin Bridge"!
2.5 stars rounded up to 3.
I had high hopes for "Hairpin Bridge" which claims on its cover: "the most gripping suspense thriller you'll ever read". I was happy to put my feet up and let the thrill take me away. Unfortunately, after a strong start (very strong, I zipped through the first 30%), the book started to drag. Part of it was that it was nonstop live-or-die action. Part of it was the back-and-forth narrative in which two twins in two timelines were at odds with the same cop in very similar ways. And part of it was the fact that a third POV was introduced, that of the cop, which alerted the reader to his guilt or innocence very, very early - would have been so much more interesting to wonder if he was really guilty or innocent rather than be told what kind of person he was through the POV. Unfortunately, knowing that the twins were up against took the air out of the tires pretty early.
The action sequences grew to be numbing. I had trouble keeping the twins apart, even though we were told over and over again how different they were. Ultimately, the book burnt itself out. I feel like this would have functioned better as a novella? It was just trying too much over too long a time.
I went into this book on pins and needles. I loved No Exit by Adams. I was begging not to be let down.
Well praise be, I am still on that Adam’s high. This was another thriller worthy of the genre. He has mastered the single location storyline without it becoming mundane. The plot was fresh, unique and if I was playing poker, I was all in.
Cambry is found dead at the base of Hairpin Bridge. Official cause - suicide. But Lena, Cambry’s twin, isn’t buying it. So driving her dead twin’s car she takes off to the scene of the “crime” with a cassette recorder and a bucket load of questions for the officer that found the body.
Now readers beware, there are some straight-up odd elements in this book. There are some bits that added little to the story but in this case, it became a part of the creep factor for me.
Others, I know have felt differently. So this might be a hit or miss situation. But it’s on the hit list for me.

<i>"Please forgive me. I couldn't live with it. Hopefully you can, Officer Raycevic."</i>
When Lena Nguyen received the above text message from her estranged twin sister, Cambry, she thought nothing about it until she found out about her suicide much later. Based on the police report, Cambry had driven to Hairpin Bridge; a remote bridge seventy miles outside of Missoula, Montana, and jumped to her death. Lena may not be close with Cambry, but she knew her personality and that she's not the kind who'd give up a fight easily. And the more she read Cambry's last text, the more she find something is amiss so she decided to have a talk with Corporal Raymond Raycevic. After all, he's the highway patrolman who'd allegedly discovered Cambry's body.
Lena is all prepared before meeting Officer Raycevic for the interview at Hairpin Bridge. She's even carried a cassette recorder along so she could have Raycevic's statement as a record. Raycevic has been sympathetic and professional towards Lena as he told her that he'd stopped Cambry for speeding before discovering her mangled body an hour later on that fateful day. Based from Raycevic's report, Cambry had leapt to her death although the motive was unclear. Lena knew Cambry had been living a wild life but to choose a death path doesn't seemed her style. On top of it, Raycevic's statement seemed a bit off, too. How'd he discover Cambry's body and right after he'd stopped her car an hour ago? And most of all, her unexplainable sixteen attempted 911 calls dialled from a dead zone. Did Cambry call before her so-called suicide? Or is it Raycevic who's responsible for her death?
I've enjoyed Taylor Adams' previous psychological thriller, No Exit. It was an intense wild ride filled with twists and turns and this book is no exception. Adams' writing has that cinematic style that hook you easily and never let your attention go until the final page. I especially loved how he created his female characters to be courageous and feisty; showing their strengths as they're faced with challenges amid their vulnerable situations. I think I enjoyed this book a bit more than No Exit as it captured the complicated relationship between the twin sisters as well as Lena's side of Cambry's story. As the story slowly unravels, we see some parallels and the truth and personally this storytelling works for me. And I'm glad to say Taylor Adams has now become one of my favourite authors.
I really had high hopes for this one however it didn't wow me. Action packed for sure but I find the multiple POV format to be a bit confusing sometimes. I would still recommend it to anyone that likes action packed thrillers. Just wasn't a fave of mine.
Wow! This book was full of twists and turns. I was locked in from the second I picked it up. I really enjoy this author and can’t wait for his next one. I’m sorry I read it so fast and it’s over. Will be hard to find another book this intense. Highly recommended. Thanks to the publishers and netgalley for the early release copy.
Overall an entertaining book, although at times hard to follow, I kept forgetting who's perspective I was reading. At times I felt the story was very drawn out, and went on a bit. But still entertaining. Thanks netgallery for this advanced copy of this book.
HAIRPIN BRIDGE by Taylor Adams takes the reader on a wild ride. Like Adams' 2018 release, NO EXIT, HAIRPIN BRIDGE is a fast and furious journey with a condensed timeline of only hours.
The story is mainly from the perspective of Lena Nguyen who is following the trail of activities leading up to her twin sister Cambry's supposed suicide in remote Missoula, Montana.
Lena meets up with the officer who found Cambry, Officer Raycevic to hear his version of events. From the onset of the book, we are met with contradictions and questions about whether Office Raycevic is telling the truth. The story is told in multiple formats including blog posts from Lena and a book that Lena is writing to tell Cambry's story from Lena's POV.
This book was a fast-paced read and kept me engaged until the end. I really enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and Taylor Adams for the digital ARC.
“Please forgive me. I couldn’t live with it. Hopefully you can, Officer Raycevic.” -The last words Lena’s twin sister, Cambry, ever texted her before Cambry jumped off of Hairpin Bridge to her death. The police ruled it a suicide, but was it really? Lena is on a mission to find out. And who better to ask than Officer Raycevic himself who coincidentally pulled Cambry over an hour before her death? This book is about a woman on the search for justice for her twin sister. She’ll risk everything to get the truth. She’ll even risk confronting the policeman whom she feels is hiding something about the death of her sister. Will the truth come out?
I saw that Taylor Adams wrote this book and I just had to get it! No Exit is one of the best thrillers I’ve ever read, so I was interested in reading more by this author. I did enjoy this book, however, not nearly as much as I enjoyed No Exit.
This story hooked me from the beginning. Adams definitely knows how to build suspense! However, nothing in this story surprised me. I am very good at guessing twists, so maybe it’s just that nothing EVER surprises me. But I had figured out all of the big reveals within 20-30% of the book. I would not consider this novel predictable though. There were unique twists and turns, they just weren’t completely unexpected for me.
I like it that this book had parts with other points of view. My favorite part was hearing from Officer Raycevic. It was so interesting seeing inside his mind. But one POV was so very unnecessary to me: the POV of what could have possibly happened to Cambry. It just felt like a waste of time. I would have rather had more of Raycevic‘s point of view than chapters full of educated guesses on what could have happened.
The ending dragged for me. I was very satisfied with some of the reveals, however, the solutions were prolonged to build suspense, but it really just built a sense of “can we please get this over with?” for me.
Overall this book was very entertaining and I look forward to reading more books by Taylor Adams!

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for this arc!
Hairpin Bridge is another one of Adams books that keeps you saying just one more chapter. Alternating between Lena, her blog, her twin sister Cambry's thoughts on a quest to find the truth of Lena's estranged twin. This book is no sugar coat you are a part of everything, every gruesome detail. I loved being in the front seat of the action.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the chance to read this digital arc. All opinions are my own.
Thank you to Joffe Books and Netgalley for the copy of this book to read. It was released on 15 June 2021.
This was the first Taylor Adams book I've read. Just saying I'm a convert. FOR THE RECORD!
Hairpin Bridge is a mile a minute thriller involving one twin sister re-tracing her sibling's very last steps prior to her death. Lena Nguyen and her twin Cambry were not as close as twins could be in the years prior to Cambry's death so Lena pledges to find Cambry's killer, despite Cambry's death being ruled a suicide. Lena also happens to be a blogger so the story line moves backwards and forwards between the twins individual and shared histories, the moments leading up to Cambry's death, and Lena's social media posts and musings prior to and during her investigation.
Once I started the book it wasn't something I wanted to put down. It was a mile a minute. I think I described it in a comment on someone else's feed - it was all the adventure of a Fast and Furious movie but without the bad acting! I would finish one chapter thinking I had things pretty well figured out and then the plot would shift. One of the characters is particularly unreliable - one minute saying one thing, and the next saying "you know how I said that, it was all a lie" and repeat. It made for interesting, though a little frustrating reading at times.
There's adventure, intrigue, descriptive violence and a whole lot of menace in this book. There's ALOT packed in, possibly too much IMO? Suspended disbelief is definitely required for this one but I think many readers might find this quite the ride. What is challenging is that sometimes mid one person's point of view the narrative changes. It's a little bewildering and wasn't seemless for me, and at these times the storyline appeared to lose it's way a little and lack focus.
"Really Lena! You came all this way.... You found me. And now you're running?
I'm not running, motherfucker".
Total badass quote. Loved it.
After reading “No Exit”, I knew that Taylor Adams would be on my automatic buy list.
When Lena’s sister, Cambry, commited suicide, Lena just couldn’t believe it. Lena decides to take matters into her own hands and uncover the secrets of what really happened.
If you love a fast paced story full of twist, definitely pick this one up! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!
After reading No Exit, I knew I had to read Hairpin Bridge. But sadly I wasn’t as immersed in this story as I was with the previous book by Taylor Adams. I will say that it was as equally shocking in some aspects but just didn’t pull me in as much as I had hoped!
Lena and Cambry are identical twins, only one is dead. Apparent suicide, but might actually have been murdered. And as the surviving twin searches for answers, she gets more than she could have ever bargained for. Lena needs to confront her sisters murder and as she gets closer to the truth she realizes not everything is as it seems. Fighting tooth and nail to get to the bottom of what happened to cambry, more questions come to light.
It was truly an awesome story, but just really wasn’t what I had been expecting.
Girl sets out to gind out the truth behind her twin sisters death on a mysterious bridge.
Fast paced and kept me on the edge of my seat!
4 stars
Taylor Adams excels at writing a fast paced, thrilling book. Both with No Exit and this one, the cast of characters is extremely focused as it the location and the premise unique.
Cambry and Lena were twins. Lena is trying to uncover the true reason for Cambry’s “suicide” and confront who she believes is behind her death.
The varying POV were interesting. We had Lena in real time, her blog post written in advance of her “mission” and then a book she is writing. At times they were a bit confusing due to conflicting information and some overlap but I believe it kept the book exciting and trying to figure out what actually happened and what will happen next.
There were so many twists and turns and it was hard to predict what to expect next. It was fast paced and I sped through it in two days!
That being said, I didn’t truly feel like I needed to know what happened to Cambry and while I was more invested in Lena’s predicament I also wasn’t as invested in it. Which is why it wasn’t quite a 4 star read for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
Lena is trying to find out what really happened the day her sister died. She doesn't believe the police report and confronts the police officer that found her sister and wrote that report.
This book basically takes place in one day, but is told with many flashbacks from Lena's perspective and as well her sister's. There were so many twists and turns in this book. At first you may think, what could possibly happen in one day? Well, a lot happened. Without giving out any spoilers, there seems to be one revelation after the other. The flashbacks provided the filler needed to understand the character's personalities and describe events related to this one day Lena confronts the officer.
I give this a 3.5/5. Towards the end of the book, the author changed perspective to some of the other characters which I didn't think was necessary, but it didn't take away anything from the book either.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book for a review.
Fast paced thriller that kept me turning the pages to find out what was going on. I ended up liking it more than No Exit but it's dark and violent so it won't be a great read for everyone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!
I LOVED No Exit so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Taylor Adams new book, Hairpin Bridge. I was drawn into it and lost interest about halfway through. I felt like the book drug on and I had hard time focusing on the characters. It was certainly suspenseful but not one of my favorites.
