I was so excited for this book because I loved "No Exit". This one started out really good, but I found myself getting bored. I do think this will work for some, but it just didn't hold my attention enough.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own!

Lackluster writing. Unlikable characters. Slurs. Not for me. And I wouldn't recommend this to anyone either.

A few months ago, Lena Nguyen’s estranged twin sister, Cambry, drove to a remote bridge seventy miles outside of Missoula, Montana, and jumped to her death. That’s what the police report says but Lena doesn’t believe it. She decides to confront the police office who found her.
Corporal Raymond Raycevic agrees to meet her on the very bridge her sister jumped from and Lena is determined to find the truth.
Thoughts: My heart was racing, I was biting my nails off and I even sweated! For god sakes this is literally a wild ride from start to finish. I’ve seen mixed reviews on this and I have no flipping clue why because it was excellent. It was so much more then just a thriller. It involved loss, despair, regret and guilt. The strong reaction Lena has to her sisters death and the determination to find the truth no matter the cost is so heroic I really felt it. The chapters flip between present with Lena , her blog posts and past with Cambry which I thought played nicely in the overall mystery. I can honestly say I didn’t see the twists or the ending which was a surprise. I literally was so engaged in the novel I didn’t even notice the Lakers loosing 🤦🏼♀️I was there for all of it. Well done Taylor Adams 👏🏼👏🏼 thanks for making me get a manicure 😂😂😂😂

Very interesting. I read it a couple of weeks ago and it is still picking at my brain. That, to me, is a sign of a good book.
Hell bent on getting answers for her sisters death, Lena sets out to Hairpin Bridge. She learns a lot of stuff while there and is unsure what, if anything, is real.
Told in a partial blog format with 2-3 POVs, Hairpin Bridge will keep you second guessing yourself.

📚 Book Review 📚
Lena after losing her twin sister to what was declared a suicide, drives out to visit the bridge and meet the highway patrolman that found her body. She needs to know the truth about what happened to her sister and she doesn’t believe for a second it was suicide.
I loved No Exit so much when I read it last year and Hairpin Bridge didn’t disappoint! It was a nonstop action packed book. I loved all the little details. The format of switching back and forth from different story lines kept me reading! I had to find out more and more about what really happened. Overall I would recommend this one to anyone who likes thrillers.

2.5 round down.
Ugh, I hate to say that I didn't enjoy this book by Taylor Adams after really enjoying No Exit, but unfortunately this book just didn't work. The premise sounded intriguing, but fell flat for me. I couldn't connect with any of the characters, they were not relatable, likable, or entertaining, and the story left me wanting and bored...
There were way too many repetitive action scenes and too many unbelievable face-offs with the bad guys. I was not invested in any of it and found myself skimming through the pages as time went on.
I've seen other wonderful reviews and agree this could be a fun summer read for many. I remain a fan of Taylor Adams and look forward to reading future books.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I truly didn’t love this book. This is one of the biggest titles of the summer, and it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t like that portrayed every cop as a murderer and a dirty cop. It never had anything positive to say about law enforcement and those that put their lives on the line to keep us safe. It was very unbelievable that a cop could get away with the things he got away with.
I also didn’t love that every time the main character did something, everyone was surprised that she broke the stereotypical norm. Ummm okay. Just because she’s a woman and “small” doesn’t mean she can’t do anything. It was extremely frustrating to read.
There were so many timelines/stories going on that it was hard to keep track of what was going on and what was truth. Sometimes that can make a thriller great, but it just made this one confusing.
I did finish it, and for that I gave it 2 stars. The ending almost made it unbelievable.

Unpopular Opinion here: let me start by saying I loved No Exit. Loved it. But this was one hot mess of a book for me. I felt that many scenes were repeated or unrealistic. The overall theme was a little confusing and bizarre. I couldn't keep up. Don't get me wrong, the suspense was there. I didn't want to put this book down! But I was hoping it would get better.....
.
Mini Synopsis: Lena drives to Hairpin Bridge in Montana to try and figure out why her twin died by suicide. Lena thinks there's more to the story and enlists crooked cop Raycevic to help her.

Thank you @netgalley for the ARC!

I really enjoyed reading this book! It constantly kept me wanting more and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I really liked the main character, Lena and I absolutely love storyline. The author does a wonderful job flipping between two different times and it was easy to follow. I do feel the ending could have been tied up a bit more. I have some questions remaining. They’re probably not the most pertinent, but I would have loved to see a bit more detail. All in all, a fabulous read!

This book started out with nail biting suspense that kept me reading. But as I got to about halfway it started feeling like a silly action movie. Lots of car chases, guns and violence, without much substance. I didn’t like or care about any of the characters. I did like how it ended but most of it just had me rolling my eyes. Overall it was a bit disappointing.

Taylor Adam knows how to write a great suspense, with twists. This is my second book of his and I will keep reading his books.
I love that he gets right in the story and doesn't add boring fluff to his novels. I bite my nails the whole time.
I highly recommend, in addition to this book, you read "No Exit", 5*, loved it.
Can't wait to read more of his books!

2.5 stars rounded up because I’m feeling mildly generous. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am quite sad about how this book didn’t work for me. I LOVED No Exit and read it in one sitting late at night. It’s one of my favorite thrillers and one I readily recommend.
Hairpin Bridge has a lot of the same elements of No Exit—all the action in one location over a short period of time, a good bit of violence, and some twists and turns—but without the same oomph.
There’s about 14 different POVs happening in this book and they slip in and out without a ton of clear demarcation which took me out of reading the book so many times. It’s hard to know who’s perspective we’re reading, which kind of comes into play later but it wasn’t enough to make up for how disorienting it was.
It also felt super repetitive and drawn out. There’s several car chase/gunfight scenes that talked in circles around the logistics of how they were playing out, and they just weren’t written in a way that made me feel caught up in the action. This book was also weirdly both pro-cop and anti-cop at the same time??
There’s also a lot of suspending disbelief that has to happen with this book, which was also true of No Exit, but I didn’t feel the motivation to suspend in this one and felt myself getting exasperated with the way characters kept narrowly escaping death. There were some good sections where I felt that same “No Exit” thrill and some okay twists towards the end, but ultimately I was pretty glad to be done with this one.

Thank you to Netgalley for the e-copy of this book.
Uggghhh….“No Exit”, by Taylor Adams, was one of my favorite thrillers. This is an extremely difficult review for me to write. I was so excited for “Hairpin Bridge”. I might be in the minority with this opinion, but the story fell flat for me.
“Hairpin Bridge” is about Lena Nuygen, a blogger grieving the death of her twin sister, Cambrey. Although the death was ruled a suicide, Lena suspects foul play. She heads to Montana to find the police officer, Corporal Raymond Raycevic, that found the body. She is convinced he was the one who killed her sister. Lena and Corporal Raycevic spend the night on the bridge hashing out the truth.
The story is broken up into three points of view. The current situation, Lena’s blog posts and Cambrey’s point of view. The transitions were not smooth and, at times, it seemed abrupt and hard to follow.
Let me emphasize that this is by no means a slow book. It is definitely an action packed book, chockfull of car chases and shoot outs. The book hooked me immediately and I binged the first half of it in a night. I was totally invested and needed to see how the book ended. There is a good heart pounding story in there but halfway through it flatlined for me. There was a lot of repetitiveness and felt like part of the book was filler. Those parts slowed the story down for me and the book could of been better if it was shorter.
Despite my thoughts on this book, I am looking forward to more of his books.

Lena Nguyen is on a mission to find out what happened to her estranged identical twin sister Cambry. Her death was ruled a suicide but the text that Lena received before she dies leads her to believe otherwise. Lena does not believe that her sister jumped off Hairpin Bridge she believes she was murdered by the cop that found her body. She's meeting with him on the same bridge to get him to confess to her sister's murder.
This book hits the ground running! It didn't slow down. The twists in this book are shocking and I didn't see any of it coming. Just like No Exit, I couldn't put it down. Get ready for a face paced heart pounding read.

Extremely readable, fast-paced, action-filled, suspenseful, and all of the other adjectives.
If you loved No Exit, you'll love this one too. This book is very much a THRILLER, with high-speed car chases and gunfights galore. Similar to No Exit, we have an isolated location and a limited cast of characters, and (for the most part) the entire book takes place in the span of a few hours. The pace is absolutely relentless, and it will keep you at the edge of your seat.
With that being said, I base my ratings on my own personal enjoyment of the books, and for me it was only a three star book. This is really a "me thing"--I love a mystery/thriller, but if the story is going to skew to one or the other, I would prefer a slow mystery to a fast thriller. The action is good, but you end up reading a lot about the specific angles of the gunfights and such....I prefer this type of action as a movie rather than a book. There are enough small twists to keep a mystery reader entertained, but it is still not quite my thing.
Still, I would highly recommend this one if you are looking for a quick, engaging thriller, particularly if you were a fan of No Exit.

Lena has come to the place where her twin sister Cambry committed suicide. They haven't been close for years, but she just doesn't believe that her sister would have made this decision. She contacts Officer Rayceiv, the man who found Cambry's body and he agrees to meet her. He thinks she needs closure, but in reality, she believes he is a killer. Armed with a tape recorder and her plan to obtain a confession from him and share it on her blog, she heads to Montana.
While there was a fair amount of action, I was slightly confused at times by the way the story was told. It seems like there are chapters narrated by Cambry or perhaps just what Lena imagined had happened. I did figure it out, but it took a while and actually kept pulling me away from the story when I should have been fully invested. Did I like Lena? Really, not that much. Not even when more of her reasons for needing the truth about what happened was revealed. There were certainly a lot of unexpected secrets and twists to this story but ultimately it was just an okay read for me.
This might be partially due to what I refer to as second-book syndrome. When I love the first book I've read by an author, and I loved No Exit, I think my expectations are just too high. I have seen so many positive comments on Instagram, so in this case, it might well be me and not the book.
No question I will be reading his next book.

Hairpin Bridge had the potential to be something amazing. Grieving sister, corrupt police officer, a serial killer going undetected for years, and a suicide that left too many unanswered questions. I was immediately intrigued by the books synopsis as well as the first couple of chapters. But then? It all went down hill, and fast.
To begin, this book is broken up into different narratives. You have the present day where Lena is discussing her sister's suicide with the officer that found her body. Then you have what I thought was Cambry's story being told from her perspective, but in retrospect I believe it was in fact the book Lena was writing about how she perceived events to have gone down on the night of her death. There are also places where it is written from the point of view of Officer Raycevic himself. And finally, we have a third narrative which is that of a blog post that Lena is writing about her plans to meet with Officer Raycevic and the outcome she expects.
Are you confused yet? Because there were times when I found it hard to keep track of. Not only that, but the sudden switch between the different perspectives happened without warning, which really snapped me out of the story.
However, that wasn't the only reason that I was forced to give this book such a low rating.
This book was just so beyond unrealistic that it was laughable. The motives of the characters seemed to be an after-thought, meaning I didn't believe any of their so-called motivations for the things they do/had done throughout the novel. Perhaps this was due to the fact that everything was just so over the top done, between the car chases, the gunfights (where people who should be dead aren't), and even a large snake of all things (which seems to serve no real purpose to the story), instead of being drawn in and captivated by what was happening, I just wanted it to be over.
DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

This was the first book in a while that I really enjoyed! It's the story of a young woman who travels to Montana to investigate/avenge her sister's death. It gets a bit confusing in parts, though, as the narrator is giving the story of her sister's death. Some things don't quite add up. Nevertheless, I enjoyed that the main character had real moxie and wasn't weak or portrayed as such by the author. Funny that a man has written a strong character here and female authors keep writing women as weak, unreliable and ridiculous. Huge kudos to Taylor Adams!

After reading No Exit two years ago, I was a little nervous about reading this one and that it would somehow not live up to it’s predecessor.
Turns out I didn’t need to worry, I loved this one!
.
Things I liked:
-Lena is awesome. Period.
-The mystery about Cambry’s death. I wanted to know what really happened.
-The action. It was so great and kept me on the edge of my seat.
-I also loved that this was yet again, sort of a locked room thriller? I mean almost the entirety of the book takes place on this bridge. To be able to tell an entire story, make it suspenseful and be in one place practically the whole time, seems like some great writing to me.
.
I don’t have anything to say about this book that bugged me or I didn’t like. I’ve got Taylor Adams on my auto-read list now!

This story was so captivating and gave me chills the whole time. Very fast-paced and suspenseful. Perfect for getting out of a reading slump! Definitely a little creepy. But worth it!
