If you enjoyed No Exit then you’ll love Hairpin Bridge. I however couldn’t stand either of them.
Hairpin Bridge just seemed like one long car chase. It was incredibly repetitive and the “twists”weren’t interesting enough to make up for it.
Fans of No Exit (me!!!), rejoice! Taylor Adams has brought us another twisty-turny insane story and I'm here for it.
A young woman, Cambry mysteriously jumps to her death off of what had been called the "Suicide Bridge". But her sister, Lena, refuses to believe her cause of death was suicide, and decides to meet with the police officer who discovered her body. But Lena also has her suspicions that the cop might also be a killer. Throughout a few hours of this bridge, where essentially the entire book takes place, Lena is determined to find out exactly what happened and won't stop till she has her answers.
While a little unbelievable and over the top at times, Hairpin Bridge is unputdownable and would make an incredible movie. Definitely add this to your summer reading list!

Another heart-pounding book by Taylor Adams!
This was a fast-paced thriller full of intense action and gory details that kept me glued to my Kindle from the first page. Similar to No Exit, my anxiety levels were high in this one too! The suspense kept wanting to know more throughout. More in this case because almost every chapter ended on a cliffhanger. And every time I thought I knew what was happening, a twist came that made me question everything I had learned so far.
The only reason why it isn't a 5-star read is that I was confused by the narration in the beginning. The narrative in this book is unique and interesting but took me some time to get comfortable with.
Totally recommend this action-packed suspenseful thriller!
I tried to read No Exit by this author and failed. For me, it’s hard to read a book that takes place over hours to one day because I never feel completely satisfied by the plot. This was no different for me. I think a lot of people will enjoy Harpin Bridge especially if they liked No Exit, but it was just a miss for me.
I read and enjoyed Taylor Adams previous book, No Exit. I’ve recommended that book to so many people and still think about its fast-paced, action thrill ride. So when I saw Hairpin Bridge was releasing, I couldn’t wait to read it. Unfortunately, and maybe I’m in the minority, but this book was not it for me...at all. This is similar to No Exit in that it all takes place during one day with only a handful of characters and a crafty heroine as the main character. But instead of being a fast-paced moving story, this read just seemed to circle around the same info over & over and by the time we find out what happened, I found I didn’t care. The way the story is told just didn’t work for me or keep me interested, I didn’t care about any of the characters and the story was really over-the-top with believability for me. The meandering plot and implausible scenes just made this a real flop.
Lena travels to Montana to do her own investigation on the case of her twin sister’s death. The police ruled the jump from Hairpin Bridge as a suicide, but Lena isn’t buying it. So she jumps in the same car her sister drove there, brings a tape recorder, and set up a walk-through of the event with the officer who found her sister’s body...and his story doesn’t add up right from the start. This officer is the last person to have seen her sister alive the day prior when he pulled her over, he’s the one who found her body the next day, and he was named in the last text sent to Lena...so what exactly happened to her sister, was it murder or suicide, and what is going on at Hairpin Bridge...
Thank you to the publisher for an e-ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts & review. Hairpin Bridge will be published June 15, 2021.
What a wild ride!! Taylor Adams did not disappoint with Hairpin Bridge. A story about twins, Lena and Cambry, Lena searching for answers of Cambry’s death. It was a little slow at first but it picked up very quickly. The ending was what really brought this up to 5 stars for me, twists I didn’t see coming. A story about family, the secrets that they keep, and the lengths they’ll take to find out the truth. Could not put this down! Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for the advanced eARC.
Hairpin Bridge was a thrilling novel that topped Adams' previous book No Exit. One year ago, Lena Nguyen's twin sister, Cambry, apparently killed herself by jumping off of Hairpin Bridge. The Bridge is the setting for the majority of the book, as the reader slowly pieces together why Lena ended up back there and what happened to her sister. The book allows Lena to narrate in three different formats. The main plot of the book traditionally alternates between Lena's point of view and the other people she encounters on the bridge. There is also a lengthy blog post dispersed throughout the book that explains what Lena knows and why she decided to return to the bridge. Finally, there is Cambry's story, told by Lena as the most unreliable narrator because it is Lena's version of the events, which may or may not be the whole truth.
This book grabbed my attention in the first few chapters and did not let up. Adams does a great job of withholding information from the reader only to reveal new twists at the maximum time to keep the story moving forward. Many times I thought I guessed the next story beat only to be delightfully proved wrong. Lena is an exciting protagonist, with the book slowly pulling back her layers to show new strengths and weaknesses. I was consistently thrilled by this novel and Adams doesn't let up at any point. This was a great thriller with complex characters and I could not turn the pages fast enough during plenty of sections of the book. I can't wait to read what Adams writes next because this is the second thriller I've read by him that has been a great example of a thrilling novel.

I have come to realize that books that take place over a few hours or one day are just not for me. This takes place on one crazy day where main character Lena meets with a police officer in a remote area of Montana to talk about her twin sister's suicide on Hairpin Bridge. Lena has been estranged from her sister but she cannot believe that Cambry would kill herself. The police man she meets with may or may not have reliable information about what took place that day. To say it goes down hill from there is an understatement. This was fast paced and had a lot of action in it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for review.

This is my second book I have read from Taylor Adams. This novel was very reminiscent of No Exit, in the style and pace of writing. You were a little confused throughout, but I am not certain that was on purpose.
We follow Lena as she is trying to uncover what really hapoened to her twin sister, Cambry, the night she died.
There were some twist and turns. The perfect novel if you just want to escape for a little while.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this novel in return for an honest review.
If you loved "No Exit," you will love Taylor Adams new book. It has the same kind of fast-paced, high-octane ride that will have you glued to the pages. It is an intense and graphic read but so, so good.
Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of this one. I had a pretty decent experience reading this author’s last book, No Exit. It seems that they went for a similar set up with this one in keeping in line with the isolated setting with a small cast of characters, but I felt like a lot of things missed their mark.
With No Exit, we were set up to guess which character was the bad guy, and here we are given the bad guy up front and we are trying to piece together exactly what happened to our main character’s sister. While this can sometimes work, I rarely enjoy this style of mystery/thriller.
The isolated setting of the abandoned bridge was compelling as was the sister dynamic. But the strange narrative style with kind of wacky POVs was not a hit. We have the main character’s POV, main character writing as her sister “telling her story” (which is just her saying what she THINKS happened), the officer’s POV, and then another sprinkled in. It was too much and hard to differentiate sometimes without searching back through the text for names.
The pace surprised me in this, the story starts very slow and doesn’t pick up until maybe halfway where it hits breakneck speed — with twists happening left and right.
Ultimately a miss for me, but a lot seem to be enjoying this so it is worth a shot to pick it up and see where you fall!!
Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the chance to read this early for free in exchange for an honest review
Hairpin Bridge is a harrowing tale of twin sisters, one dead, one alive. A killer is loose and Lena must do everything it takes to find out why Cambry, her sister, killed herself.
The writing in Hairpin Bridge is very different than in Adams other novel, No Exit. While I enjoyed the story, I didn't find it as compelling as No Exit, and I was rushing to finish.
The details were gory and the story was comprised of a lot of dialogue between two characters (Lena and Raycevic). It was tedious to read and I found myself skipping over parts where Lena was writing to her dead sister.
I liked the mystery and the twists in this novel, but I felt like it lacked something...I'm not sure what. I feel like between the past flashbacks, the diary/blog entries, and the different viewpoints, it had too much going on.
Adams is always good for a gory thriller, and this one definitely meets that criteria, but it was a bit of a letdown from No Exit.
Taylor Adams does it again! Another page turning thriller. The twists were a bit more predictable to me than No Exit, but I enjoyed reading it nonetheless.
Taylor Adams did it again! This book is fast paced and terrifying at times. I guessed the twist kind of early in but it was still a crazy ride.
I did not enjoy this book, I found myself skimming through the majority of the book. The flashbacks between Lena and her twin sister Cambry did not flow well for me and the plot was very predictable.
Hairpin Bridge was a solid 4 stars and a wild ride. This was probably the most stress inducing book I have ever read. I knew from reading No Exit that this book would have me on the edge of my seat but Taylor Adams really amped up the tension ten fold with this latest novel. From the get go we’re thrown into the action with the story of Lena trying to figure out what happened to her twin, Cambry, during the hours leading up to her death.
This book was filled with men who misjudged and underestimated women and I loved to see our main character proving them wrong constantly, that alone got massive thumbs up from me. The plot was fast paced and the twists enjoyable, I did see a few of them coming but really, this book was more about the nail biting, edge-of-your-seat moments than anything else. Adrenaline junkie readers will adore this book!
Big thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If one ever needs a good, intense adrenaline rush, you could either skydive.....or simply read one of Taylor Adams' books.
Hairpin Bridge is the second novel by Adams' that I've read, this year, and ever. He once again delivered with Hairpin Bridge, and once again wrote a novel that was so riveting and intense that my heart pounded as though I were the one running and fighting, and standing nose to nose with a killer.
Adams sculpts characters who are remarkably human, flawed, rugged, and delightfully real. Once again, he created a resilient, yet realistic protagonist and exceedingly sickening villains who are disgusting individuals but are frighteningly real.
Hairpin Bridge was a wild ride...I found myself holding my breath throughout it. There is something so impactful and intense about Adams' writing....and it leaves you wanting more..

I enjoyed Adams' other novel, No Exit. I had high hopes for this one as well but found myself disappointed. I didn't think the twists were as good as No Exit, and the atmosphere that was so carefully crafted and felt like its own character in No Exit felt lacking here. I also don't love the way Adams portrays or writes women in his books, and I noticed that it showed up in Hairpin Bridge as well.
However, I did find the story to be engaging and fast-paced. It held my attention and I got through it quickly. I feel like a lot happened but not enough happened at the same time. I enjoyed getting to follow the story but also felt like it could have been made deeper and been more developed at the same time.
Not my favorite, but I don't regret reading it. On to the next.
I'm sorry to say but this book just didn't hit it for me the way no exit did. Maybe it is better suited for someone else's taste. It's a bummer it didn't work out because I was looking so forward to this book.
4.5 stars (rounded up)
Who here loved No Exit? (ME, ME, I scream). I've been book pushing that one on to anyone who doesn't walk away from me. It has become one of my all time favourites, I still think about it on the regular and will read it again soon.
Which brings us to Taylor Adams new book. Would I be disappointed? Could this book hold a candle to No Exit? I had some pretty high expectations going in. I am happy to say, I was not in the least bit disappointed. This book ratchets up the tension chapter by chapter, and the pacing is relentless. It definitely gave me some of the same feels that No Exit did. Although I did not love it quite as much as my first Taylor Adams experience, I still loved it a hell of a lot. I deducted half a star for the fact I was not 100% sold on the telling of Cambry's story in book form, I wish that had just been done as a separate timeline for Cambry's story, with a few things withheld to maintain the reveals later in the story. Even with me not loving that part, I still highly, HIGHLY recommend this book.
Taylor Adams sure knows how to write about young women who are brave and unrelenting, even when the odds are stacked against them.
I am a real fan of Taylor Adams work, I have Eyeshot sitting on my shelf ready to pick up soon, I've already pre-ordered a copy of this book and will continue to buy any new books Taylor Adams writes.
Thanks to the author, Netgalley and Joffe books for my review copy.
