I love to shar4e fun books with my grandchildren and my granddaughter really enjoyed reading this with me. Learning new fun facts is always great and the illustrations and trivia held her attention. Children love sharing new things they learn and this book can be fun for everyone. Thanks Marc Powell and William Potter for the opportunity to read and review this book.
What a fun book! This is exactly the kind of book I would seek out as a kid- filled with facts and entertaining. While the target audience is much younger than I am, I can confidently say that most adults who love trivia will also enjoy this one and learn something!
I appreciate the chance to preview these books; This one will not work for my library due to its writing style and content. Many of the facts seem more like unsubstantiated claims.
I received an e-galley copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
As an adult I really enjoyed this book and I always wanted to read this kind of book when I was younger too – if you gave me a nonfiction and a fiction I would always go for the first option!
This is the third book I have read in the Big Ideas series and I think that they are great - I loved the punchy style of the different facts and trivia that you learn as the book progressed, I love the natural world and this was full of facts you don’t always get on a David Attenborough documentary too - plenty to give you a giggle about, some food for though but best of all, it is fun to read!
I can see this being a massive hit with children too - it is 5 stars from me for this one, I loved it and can easily see it being a firm favourite!
Very highly recommended!
Thanks to the publishers for sharing this one. I'm always looking for good non fiction books for kids, especially about animals, so I really wanted to like it but it bothered me that a number of the facts are wrong. My full review appears on Weekend Notes.
This fact book has different categories such as Crazy Creatures, Peculiar Pets, Feathered Facts, Creepy Crawlies, and Slimy Stuff as well as some trivia that tells where certain terms like Cat Nap come from. My favorite fact was that a leech has 32 brains and some leeches have 300 teeth, with 100 in each of their three bloodsucking jaws. I learned quite a bit from this book. I think it could have been made better if it had included some pictures of some of the unique creatures mentioned. A super enjoyable animal fact book for all ages.
What a fabulous book! The children in my class will devour it! Full of fun and amazing facts they will love discussing and sharing with friends and family. It’s also a great book you can just pick up and read bits of, ideal to encourage reluctant readers. I liked the text box style presentation. Spot on for hours of enjoyment.
A very informative and entertaining book for kids. It has trivia about animals. There are so many interesting facts about animals that you don't know. And these are accompanied by funny illustrations. A wonderful book to gain knowledge about animals while Playing with pages of the book.
Fun facts for kids, or anyone! Lots of cool trivia everyone enjoys reading. If you've ever wondered about how many facial expressions the average dog can make, you'll find it in here. Who's smarter? A cat or dog? Oldest bird? Which can fly the longest? All in here. Also, what weighs more- all the worms in the world, or all the humans? This book would make a nice addition to a a science collection! Animal lovers would enjoy it, too.
This is a really interesting book for kids! There were a ton of facts about different animals, and I actually learned somethings from this book
I immediately went to purchase this book for my classroom. I enjoyed the facts and details. I can't wait for students to read it and be engaged in reading. I also looked for others in the series. I can't wait to read more! I also purchased one for my friend's son.
Princess Fuzzypants here: As a Maine Coon, I was naturally drawn to a book with this title. I knew why but now all you humans who read this book will also know. The book is an easy ready with fun artwork that could be read in one session of dipped into at will. It is set up in a variety of categories and covers facts about many creatures- furred, feathered, and scaled.
Some of the facts are clearly included for the enjoyment of the younger reader but it is a fun book whatever your age. And it is jam-packed with fascinating facts you can use to dazzle your friends and family. I give it five purrs and two paws up.
