I only have to read a couple of pages by this author and I am hooked. Love the characters, the story telling, the twists and turns. I cannot wait for the next one. Definitely one of my favourite authors.
Thank you for the ARC.

Another book in the William Warwick police career which now looks just a tad unbelievable, a world detached from real life the books now tend to read as condescending to say the least. Another few pages turned out to pay the bills rather than an effort to entertain the reader

This is my first Jeffrey Archer book and I was not as impressive as I expected it to be; however, I did enjoy the book. The plot was a little complicated, which involved 4 murders and a missing art dealer, however, it was a quick easy read with a fast-moving plot.
There are quite a lot of characters involved in the story and sometimes it was easy to get lost between them. Apart from that, the storyline was pretty interesting.
I would like to thank Harper Collins and NetGalley for this opportunity to read this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Jeffery Archer always delivers a very good story and this is no exception. Why were they given a luxury cruise? Why is the wife of an escaped prisoner being so friendly? Who are the police officers on the take? How does the lawyer make so much money with only one client? The basic storyline is the chase to find the prisoner and put him back behind bars but there is so much more going on. Brilliant plot, well written.

Another chapter in the William Warwick series with the ongoing story of Miles Faulkner seemingly dead after previous events but still represented by an unscrupulous lawyer. There are cold cases to solve plus the murder of the head of a dynasty on board of an ocean liner. William is at the centre of all these events and with the help of his team and an undercover officer there’s a race to solve everything. All recited in the author’s usual eloquent style this is an entertaining yarn that as usual leaves plenty of scope for more to come!

I am really enjoying this series. Another great story featuring William Warwick and The Hawk with all the Met crew and Miles Faulkner and his lot. A few mew characters and storylines added. I hope there will be more books in this series.

I'm relatively new to Archer's books, but boy can he write a really great story. Original characters, strong plot and a quick-paced, action-packed narrative; I so enjoyed this and can't wait to read more in this series - and Archer's backlist too.

Really enjoyed this book, as it was well written and my wanting to know till the end. Enjoyed all the characters and their stories too.

Really great story with lots going on leaving you questioning how it is all going to end up. A bit slow to start but worth sticking with it.

I was really surprised by the beginning of this story and was surprised it was written by an experienced author. Not for me sorry.

Continuing the story of Detective William Warwick and his pursuit of the criminal mastermind Miles Faulkner. A real page turner that had me spell bound, can't wait for the next instalment.

Detective Chief Inspector, William Warwick, and his wife Beth, somewhat inexplicably find themselves first class passengers on a liner heading for New York, Beth having been gifted the tickets by her friend Christine. The death of the shipping line Chairman, half way across the Atlantic rings alarm bells in Williams mind, especially when he discovers that the body has been quietly buried at sea!
He returns home from New York to head up a new cold-case squad where he is to be aided by ex-SAS operative, Ross Hogan. Christine’s ex-husband Miles Faulkener, a millionaire art dealer and also a crook mysteriously “died” in Switzerland but William and Ross are suspicious when they discover that his dodgy solicitor, Booth Watson, appears to be taking an interest in one Captain Ralph Neville and both have the feeling that he could be a re-incarnation of Miles. More suspicion is aroused when they discover the sale of a priceless painting to a mysterious buyer who is being aided by Booth Watson. The mystery deepens when Ross falls for Josephine, who confesses that she is Watson’s pay and is then found murdered.
Jeffrey Archer once again produces a fast-paced, hard to put down read which leaves the reader feeling quite exhausted!

Over My Dead Body by Jeffrey Archer
📓Genre: Mystery | Thriller | Suspense
Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
🔖I've always liked books by Jeffrey Archer, and this gripping thriller is no different.
🔖The book has quite a layered plot, complete with murders and a bunch of unsolved cold cases.
🔖DCI William Warwick shoulders the responsibility of being the protagonist of this twisty tale.
🔖Through a fast-paced narrative, the story primarily follows the investigations, while constantly switching between the different locations and cases.
🔖This is the first book I've read of the William Warwick series, but the story flows quite nicely. There are several references to the previous books in the series, but Warwick is a well-written character who shows enough determination, and it was easy to like him as the protagonist, even without me reading the prior novels.
🔖I also liked the ex-undercover agent Ross Hogan and his unique ways of solving crimes.
🔖The ending of the book was probably the only part that was a little too predictable. It wasn't disappointing, but I wish it had ended a bit differently.
🔖Still, like most other books by the author – this too was full of interesting twists and turns.
🔖Overall, this book is a truly engaging read, perfect for fans of the thriller genre.
🔸Final Verdict: Good
🔸Book Cover: Arouses curiosity
🔸Writing Style: Intriguing
🔸Character Development: Good
✨Many thanks to HarperCollins UK (Publisher) and Netgalley for sending me the ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

I managed less than a chapter of this before giving up. The dialogue is some of the worst I have ever read, it really does feel like it was written by an alien who has learned how people speak by watching old movies.

I do like Jeffrey Archer as an author and he hasn’t disappointed in this book. This is the fourth book in this series but is only the first that I’ve read, but I was still able to follow the storyline and characters with no problem. There are a number of characters but there was no confusion as to who Archer was talking about at any given time.
This is about a detective, William Warwick, and his team but you are made to feel like you know the characters as the story involves their families and lives but without going into too much detail that the flow is lost.
The storyline was concluded in this book but left me wanting to read more to see what happens to the characters next, so I will definitely be reading the other books in the series now.

This is a typical Jeffrey Archer story. It puts the reader in the picture from page one and never relaxes. You always want to know what comes next. There are all the elements of Archer humour as well, tucked away in the script. He does favour ‘posh’ figures in the caste, even the lead policeman has to be exceedingly well connected. The story in this is not Archer’s most gripping. It is obvious that the main character who is pretending to be dead is alive and avoiding justice and will be caught. What is intriguing is he way it is all written which is Archer’s skill. I would not rate as Archer’s best but it is a good read.

As soon as you know it's a book by this author you'll expect a great story and you'll be told exactly that as craft's its way along various different paths, meeting successfully and a grand finish. This Jeffrey Archer special meets all of these expected requirements.
We begin with a cast of characters on their way to New York on a luxury liner. Having read the blurb about this story I hadn't expected this part of the story at all, which is typical of Jeffrey Archer. There are a number of links between this cruise and Detective Chief Inspector William Warwick, but many will only become clear as the story unfolds.
This is the 4th book in the series and although I haven't read the first three yet, (but will rush to in the immediate future) I didn't feel that I had missed anything by reading these books out of sequence.
A new boss in his department which solves and resolves unsolved murders provides us with a collection of cases that are allocated to each detective in the team for updating and completion. All of the team performed to the best of their ability and this shows Archer’s ability to link several stories together while heading towards the main reward.
Although you can probably guess that all will turnout for the best, it is the brilliant storytelling that takes you on the journey that brings you to the expected result.
Where you are a fan of this writers Kane and Abel series or his prison collection and not forgetting the Clifton chronicles, you'll know you're in good company here.
Receiving a free copy of this book is a delight because this is a most enjoyable read, effortless, yet leaves the reader with a determination to turn the next page. I do look forward to reading the first three in this series and then from the 5th onwards because I hope there will be many more. If I could give this six stars, I would.

Having been a fan of Jeffrey Archer’s books in the past, I was looking forward to reading this one. It is an ok read, but sadly not up to the standard of his earlier novels.
The many stories threaded throughout the book make for a disjointed and confusing narrative, which doesn’t flow well as a result. So many characters are introduced, and their relationship to each other, and their locations , it had my head spinning trying to keep up! The author’s device of relentlessly inserting his vast knowledge of culture on both sides of the Atlantic becomes very wearying very quickly. It failed to impress this reader.
There are some anachronisms in terms of devices and technology used, given that it is supposedly based in the 1980s. Technology was not that advanced 40 years ago.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this title.

Another excellent book from Jeffrey Archer. He really is the master storyteller.
Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

In London, the Metropolitan Police set up a new Unsolved Murders Unit—a cold case squad—to catch the criminals nobody else can.
In Geneva, millionaire art collector Miles Faulkner—convicted of forgery and theft—was pronounced dead two months ago. So why is his unscrupulous lawyer still representing a dead client?
On a luxury liner en route to New York, the battle for power at the heart of a wealthy dynasty is about to turn to murder.
And at the heart of all three investigations are Detective Chief Inspector William Warwick, rising star of the department, and ex-undercover agent Ross Hogan, brought in from the cold.
Another excellent page turner by Jeffrey Archer with a multitude of clever plots, twists and turns. I really liked the Ross Hogan character, brilliant descriptions of his undercover work and slightly 'dodgy' way of working - reminiscent of James Bond! There were a lot of additional 'short' plots, including the sea journey to New York and the introduction of young James Buchanan, the introductory conversations between James and William were very clever and kept me on my toes. I don't know if there are more books planned in this series but if there are I shall certainly be reading them.
