Calledine and Bayliss get together again to solve a crime, I have read all of Helen's books and am always amazed how she can write such fabulous murder mysteries so frequently, They are usually unique with a common thread of relationships between the officers. They become like family to each other. This one was good but I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the other books. I felt the ending was a bit of an anti-climax. However I am still looking forward to the next instalment

Calladine and Bayliss #11

twenty five years ago, a schoolgirl was attacked by three bullies in her home where she lived with her grandmother. Now, the mother of one of those bullies id found murdered on the Hobfield housing estate. There is a link to the discovery of bones at an old house up on the hills - the home of the teenage girl who was attacked.

Detective Tom Calladine and his partner DS Ruth Bayliss have been called in to investigate the murder of a woman who was found on the Hobfield housing estate. Lazarov has a personal vendetta against Carradine and his family. He's also back drug dealing. There's plenty going on for Calladine and Bayliss. The paces is steady with some really great characters, I really like this gritty police procedural series.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #JoofeBooks and the author #HelenHDurrant for my ARC of #DeadSorry in exchange for an honest review.

The past is coming back to haunt everyone with a vengeance.

25 years ago, Millie was being bullied by school friends. Now, a body has been discovered, and the mother of one of Millie's tormentors is found dead.

On the Hobfield Estate, it seems that a drug turf war is breaking out.

Oh, and Bulgarian villain Lazarov wants Tom Calladine dead....

Another brilliant addition to this excellent series

Another story in the series but still fresh and gripping a true crime mystery how murders are there and who was the first victim a puzzle that run from the start to the finish of the book. Good escapism to while away a few hours

I have read quite a few of Helen H Durrant’s book, but this is the first of the Calladine and Bayliss series that I have sat down with..
At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but as I had enjoyed all her other books, bar one, I kept at it.
A wide variety of characters, some of whom I would have stumbled across had I started with book one, but the story moved along well, twisting here and there, making it an enjoyable read.
At some point I will go back to the start of this series.
Recommend.

Classic Helen Durrant, well worth a read, you won't be disappointed!
Dead Sorry can be read alone, but does follow on nicely in the Calladine & Bayliss mystery series.
An intriguing and interesting prologue, relating to an alleged fight between schoolgirls, that happened 25 years ago. There is murder mayhem, drug dealing and a personal vendetta against Calladine. How does it all tie together and whose version of events should we believe? Just when you think you have worked it out there is another twist!

Thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for my digital copy.

Another great Calladine/Bayliss novel. This time the past comes back to haunt Calladine. 25 years ago a potential assault occured, as a young detective Calladine was sent to interview the grandmother of perpetrator, shortly after the accused went missing.
Present time and the mother of one of the victims is found dead from a battering with the word sorry written in blood. Added to that Lazarov a Bulgarian drug dealer is back on the scene threatening Calladines family.
A gritty novel with great characters. The series gets better and better.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. My opinions are my own

This book was interesting , I enjoyed reading it, but it wasn't my all time favorite?! This book had suspense, action ,drama, and a decent storyline! But it didn't jump out at me or have any heart pounding moments?! I'm just not sure how to explain but it was just ok for me! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

A drug and alcohol user named Becca O'Brien is murdered in an apartment she had taken over on in Hobfield Estate which has a very bad reputation.

Detective Tom Calladine and DS Ruth Bayliss respond to the case. The scene is horrible. The woman has been brutally murdered. Ruth wonder to Calladine if this has any connection to a twenty-some year old case. Bone were found under the home of an elderly woman. It was suspected, but not proven, that the bones were the woman's granddaughter. The same message was written above the body: “Sorry.”

The police discover that Jade O'Brien is still alive and in a care home. She has been there for twenty-four years.

Also going on is a new drug dealer in is town and determined to take over. Calladine and his daughter and granddaughter are being threatened by this individual. With zoe and the baby is a safe house, Calladine is determined to take this guy out. He knows who he is, an eastern European called Lazarov.

It all collides with a scheme to rob the museum of a Celtic hoard that will be on display soon. The thieves have a falling out. You might say they had a difference in priorities. The killer simply loses their head so to speak. Several people are killed.

I want to thank NetGalley and Joffe Books for forwarding to me a copy of this great book for me to read, enjoy and review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

Helen H Durrant is one of my favourite contemporary writers and this book is as good as usual. Strong characters and a strong plot. It's also fun trying to work out where around Manchester she is writing about.

Loved it.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I read a free advance review copy of the book. This review is voluntary, honest and my own opinion.

Another case for Detective Tom Calladine and DS Ruth Bayliss.
When a woman is found battered to death it has similarities to a case 25 ago but can they be linked ?
At the same time someone is targeting Tom’s family to get to him, Can all this be one case, enjoy Tom and Ruth along with their new boss Greco find all the answers.
An addictive read.

Another engaging instalment in this well established series with the return of several characters and a good storyline involving both a historical murder and current crimes.
These books are well written, easy to read British crime capers

Yet again an absolutely amazing book. I love the characters and how the storyline flows from book to book.
I can't wait for the next one already.
Absolutely amazing work.

I love the police officers in this series, they are so believable and their private life stories interest me as much as the mystery. This, again is a well plotted police procedural with plenty of false leads. I always look forward to a new book by Helen H Durrant and I have never been disappointed.

An act of violence 25 years ago, and one fought back. Was it now a time for retaliation . It is a brutal and violent killing of a mother with words painted ‘sorry’. Bones are found in an old house. Case is a plot of twists and turns for Baylis and Calladine with an unusual ending.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion for Net Galley and Joffe.

Thank you Netgalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This is the eleventh in the Detectives Tom Calladine and Ruth Bayliss series.
Twenty-five years ago a trio of girls attack Millie, a shy, quiet girl who, surprisingly, fights back.
In the present, one of the bullies' mother is found dead, brutally beaten and a cryptic message is found in blood on the wall.
Tom's nemesis, Lazarof, is back and targeting Tom's family, in particular his granddaughter. The murder and Lazarof seem to be linked and Tom and Ruth spend many frustrating hours trying to figure out how and who...where's the link and where's Lazorof?
This is another good, enjoyable book in the series which I definitely recommend.

Oh Gosh Book Eleven Calladine and Bayliss and it's a blinder of a read.
Twenty five year's ago what happened at Gorse House will stay hidden forever.
Leesdon Station Tom and Ruth are sent out to an incident on the rough Hobfield Estate a beating woman murdered, a frenzied attack someone lost it big time on this body who is named Becca Obrien the word sorry is written on the wall in a bloody heart. this is a reminder of an old murder at Gorse House twenty five year's ago Millie Reed and her Granny where a drawing was found heart shape with MR in the centre Millie was never found and her granny had died of a stroke Millie's tormenter Jade Obrien is dead Becca's daughter is there a link and relevant to this case?
Tom Calladine has a lot of old note searching to do way back then and also is dealing with personal things in his life to keep his family safe.
What a book with almighty twists to keep readers going, I love this series and these characters in every chapter your guessing the baddie then change your mind, this is one clever author and her book's are ones not to be missed off your lists, let's hope there's more from this duet Calladine and Bayliss as there is unfinished business wink wink I'm saying no more.
