I love PJeffrey Deaver, and this title is another winner for me! A great taut and tense read - Highly recommended.

Gripping multilayered plot, with clever forensics and shifting timelines.

Lincoln Rhyme is a former NYPD homicide detective with a keen eye for details, who started working as a consultant following an accident which left him paralysed. He requested Amelia Sachs, now his wife and a Detective with the NYPD, worked with him on his very first consulting case after he was impressed by her skill and initiative.

The latest case they are investigating involves the self-titled “Locksmith”, whose skills at overcoming locks and security systems allow him to quickly and silently break into homes. His victims would have no idea he had been there except for his unnerving notes and the scenes he stages.

There is very little to go on so the police are relying heavily on his help, but after his expert evidence falls apart during a high profile murder trial, leading to an acquittal, Rhyme is placed under investigation and banned from working for the police.

With time of the essence, Rhyme needs to somehow investigate covertly before the Locksmith escalates further.

Jeffery Deaver has once again disturbed my sleep!

Lincoln Rhyme, a quadriplegic forensic criminologist, his wife Amelia Sachs have a new case to solve. A locksmith is wreaking havoc in the city and they and their team will need to discover information on how he is managing to break into homes that are locked with supposedly impenetrable locks.

Once again, a novel that will keep you awake long after midnight as the team concentrate on solving this bizarre case.

Elite Reviewing Group received a copy of the book to review.

I've dipped in and out of the Lincoln Rhyme series which began back in 1997 with The Bone Collector and The Midnight Lock is the latest and still somehow reads as fresh and interesting almost 20 years after the first.

As if he doesn't already face enough challenges, in this book Lincoln Rhyme is under investigation and therefore not allowed to officially investigate the crime and so has to find a way to work to covertly.

The main crime thread in this book is super creepy and unsettling, with a criminal who can pick locks, any locks, and enters women's apartments while they sleep - he doesn't attack, yet, but moves things. The fear of knowing what he could have done and that he could come back anytime he wants is frankly terrifying and police are all too aware that his behaviour is escalating and he urgently needs to be caught.

This is a taught and nerve wracking tale, expertly delivered by Jeffery Deaver and I am sure Lincoln Rhyme fans, and indeed all crime thriller fans, will love it. My thanks to NetGalley, the author and Harper Collins for an ARC in return for an honest review.

What a treat curling up with Lincoln Rhyme again!
Smart characters & a rip roaring ride make this one hard not to read in one sitting.

This is another book in the Lincoln Rhyme series by Jeffrey Deaver. I have been a fan of these books for years and this book did not disappoint. Rhyme is up against an adversary known as The Locksmith who breaks into people's apartments. This book has all of the forensic details and twists and turns I have come to love from Deaver.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Instantly felt like I needed some knowledge of previous books so I didn't continue reading - I am providing this review and an average three star rating to clear it off my shelf - thank you for providing me with a copy, and I will not share any reviews.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

Another in the Lincoln Rhyme series and as ever you get drawn and you can't stop reading until the end. A disturbing crime and several subplots tangle and untangle until being wonderfully sorted at the end.

I was so looking forward to this book as it has been a while that I have read a Jeffrey Deaver book. This was a bit over the top in terms of detail but it was still enjoyable and didn't put me off reading more books.

I was given a free copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

Received as ARC from harpercollins, with thanks.

Jeffery did not disappoint, I have been looking fireside to reading a Lincoln Rhyme for a while and this one smashed it out the park. The amount of twists and turns nearly gave me whiplash. Fantastic writing as always. Bring on the next book please

I've heard a lot about Jeffery Deaver so I thought I'd give it a go. I found this okay. The premise was interesting and I expected to be scared but I wasn't . Although the writing was good and there were twists and turns I found that there was just too much detail and this ruined the suspense for me.

Thanks to netgalley
