Proper escapism!
Loved the almost fairy tale feel of this book, there was a good mix of characters, some you couldn't help but like and a couple you didn't and the story is a good one, perfect to curl up with and enjoy with a large hot chocolate!
Will certainly be reading more Lindsey Kelk books
Thank you netgalley

I’m a huge fan of Lindsey’s books, so I was super excited to read this latest novel from her and it certainly did not disappoint!

Fran, the main protagonist, was such a lovely and likeable character, who deserved so much better than her Douchebag of a fiancé Stew! So when she was given the opportunity to be a PA to a Superstar Singing sensation and live the jet setting lifestyle of the rich and famous, even just for a few days, I could not have been cheering her on more!

Whats not to love about this book? It’s got Glitz, Glamour, Celebrity Drama, Friendship, Self Discovery, Grand Romantic gestures and so much more besides!!

I simply loved this book and the fact that it’s partially set in South Yorkshire, my home county, was just the Cherry on top for me!

I desperately need to know what happens next though and am hoping there’s a sequel coming! Will Fran find her happy ever after??

Thanks Lindsey for yet another fantastic, unputdownable read and to Netgalley and Harpercollins Uk for an advance copy of this in exchange for a review!

This is the perfect feelgood fairytale romcom, and I devoured it in a matter of hours. Lindsey Kelk's novels are unputdownable and this is certainly true with this fabulous book. Fran is hard-working, down-to-earth and in need of an escape so when she gets the chance to work for the high-maintenance Juliette on her yacht as they sail to the world-renowned Crystal Ball, we are cheering her on. With the Crystal Ball full of the rich and famous, the antics of Fran and the people she encounters are nothing short of hilarious. On A Night Like This will have you laughing yourself silly and swooning with joy at this Cinderella romance. Highly recommended.

I know I've said this multiple times about other Lindsey Kelk novels but this would make such a great film! The whole thing played out in my head like a movie and all the glitz and glamour of the entire book would just look amazing on the big screen.

There's something just so magnetic about Lindsey Kelk's writing that elevates it from great to amazing. I know once I pick up one of her books I'm not going to be able to put it down again. I read this book in 2 delicious chunks because I just had to find out what was going to happen next to Fran. I felt like I was living vicariously though her and I just wanted all the best things to happen to her because Fran, like a lot of Lindsey Kelk characters, is just like us. This authors writes people and situations that we can relate to and then lets amazing things happen to them whilst dropping in quick and clever jokes that make you laugh out loud throughout.

Fran has it pretty tough at the start of this novel and I'm sure we can all relate given the world right now. She is a down to earth character with a lack of self confidence but big aspirations and an amazing best friend. I love the fact that we have this strong friendship bond in the book because that is something that this author writes so well in all of her novels. When Fran and Jess sat down for a cuppa, I felt like I was at the table with them joining in on their chat, I just found them so easy to relate to.

Despite the fact that so much of this book takes place in locations I could never dream of visiting, the description of them and the humorous way they're compared to other locations make them really easy to picture as I was reading the book. I think that the glamour of the yacht and the ball must have been really fun to write and they definitely have a certain sense of Disney magic about them. I loved getting to set sail with Fran despite being slightly worried for her safety and then when she arrives at the ball it was just breathtaking. I was also really drawn to Evan as a character. I wasn't sure whether I wanted to trust him with our girl Fran but he was certainly magnetic on the page.

There's a return of a character from another Lindsey Kelk novel in this book and it was so great to catch up with them again. In their own book they had another character cameo and so it feels like they were paying it forward appearing in this book. Another thing I always love about a Lindsey Kelk novel is the nods to popular culture. The brief mentions of celebrities and social media personalities; the way the darker side of fame and the internet is fully explored and of course whenever she gets to drop the names of other authors or her cats into the book. It always feels like part of her is just vibrating off the page.

A Lindsey Kelk novel is always filled with heart and humour, relatable characters and cracking one liners and this one is no exception only this book has that extra dollop of glitz and glamour that just elevates it on another festive level. I just had the best time reading it and I am sure you will too!

Funny, swoonworthy and downright enjoyable.

Lindsey does it again!
One of the few authors to make me laugh out loud. She nailed the dry British humour with our main character, added a Below Deck vibe to the story and gave us toecurling swoon!

I enjoyed this story so much! I loved how it was more about Fran's personal journey than it was about the romance. The comedy in this story is subtle but so sharp and I loved every minute!

Having left her life in London to be with her fiancé Stuart, Fran grows bored with her life. It is not until her friend Jess advises her to try something new. Her temp job as a PA presents Fran with an unmissable opportunity to escape her life for a few days. She leaves Stuart behind and embarks on this hilarious journey and finds love.

This modern day romcom is full of humour and is very easy to read. Kelk creates a relatable story, which will captivate many readers on this enjoyable journey. All the characters presented are likeable and explored in a great way. I especially enjoyed following Fran. Her character was brilliant and definitely my favourite. The friendship between Fran and Jess was a delightful read.

The description was well written and I really loved reading the Crystal Ball, in particular all the quirky characters that Kelk presents to Fran. The main character is strong, determined and is by far the best developed in the novel. However, there is a feel of a Cinderella trope, which I find myself not particularly enjoying. I really struggling with these kind of retellings and often find myself disappointed. Although this wasn’t experienced as strongly as other examples – *cough* An Offer From A Gentleman – the allusions were touched upon enough to go unnoticed as the romantic elements aren’t the central theme of the story.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I didn’t struggle to complete the novel. I would be curious to read more from this author.

What a wonderful read, right when I needed it.
Just wrap me up in a duvet with a hot drink, and then come back when I've finished!
This was a gorgeous book, that made me laugh out loud (I love Kelk's sense of humour and this shone through) and gave me all the feels I wanted!
Fran was a fantastic character, one I would love to be friends with, and she was the perfect one for the scenarios she found herself in.
A modern take on 'Cinderella' and I adored it. Kelk has crafted a belter.

A really good modern day Cinderella story with lots of laugh out loud moments.

Fran has moved back up north with her fiance Stew living in the house he inherited from his nana leaving behind her London life as a personal assistant. There must be more to life than this but she's happy, right?

She jumps at the chance when she gets the offer for a short term job as a personal assistant to a high maintenance celebrity but has she bitten off more than she can chew?

Fran is really relatable, honest, funny and down to earth. I love how the book entwines normal life with the over the top life of the rich and famous.

It's a fun, easy read.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins for the ARC

A true Cinderella style story which I loved completely. Fran is such a great character - relatable and funny, she’d be the best of a best friend. I laughed out loud at some of the things that happened to her on her night of all nights and haven’t stopped singing that song ( you know the one !)

Fran is desperate for an adventure. unhappy with the way things are. Jumps at an opportunity for a secret mission.
Fran finds herself on a luxury yacht but it isn't long before things start to go wrong. Time for Fran to act fast..
Do you want to wake up one day and wonder what if? Everything stops for Fran when she meets Evan at the Crystal Ball.
Fran faces lots of life decisions. Will she find what she's looking for?

Surrender your heart and soul to the sheer magic of On A Night Like This, Lindsey Kelk’s gorgeous new fairytale romcom featuring a modern day Cinderella type leading lady who may or may not have already found her Prince Charming. Romance and laughter make perfect companions in a storyline that will leave you giggling and swooning in all the right places. Charmed, enchanted, wooed and completely bowled over by her main characters, Lindsey Kelk cast a spell over me from the beginning, inviting me to step through a gateway into a world of make believe. Leaving reality firmly behind at the entrance I happily bought into the fantasy on offer having absolutely no desire to rouse myself from my dreamy, starry eyed torpor and shatter the fragile romantic illusion Lindsey Kelk so wonderfully creates.

Fran Cooper is living in Sheffield with her fiancé Stew Bingham, at a loose end without a job and clearly unhappy and a little bit lost, even if she is reluctant to admit it to herself and her best friend Jess. Missing her old life in London and working as PA to various high fliers Fran is fortunate enough to land a plum role as temporary assistant to the famous celebrity singer Juliette who is due to perform at the exclusive special invite only Crystal Ball, THE social event of the year. Jumping at the chance to escape the confines of her long term relationship with Stew, Fran joins Juliette aboard the super yacht The Songbird sailing from Naples to Panarea where the ball is being held. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to sample how the other half live, a taste of the luxurious, glamorous lifestyle most of us including Fran can only ever dream about. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot as it turns out! There are plenty of funny and awkward moments ultimately leaving Fran (literally!) stranded in a hopeless predicament but every cloud has a silver lining and this five day trip could prove to be something of an epiphany for Fran, a precursor to turning her life around. Plus thanks to a spot of clumsiness, the presence of a cat, a near fatal attraction to a handsome stranger, the appearance of a modern day fairy godmother and a good measure of coincidence, Fran’s Italian adventure is one she’s unlikely to forget.

I loved the way two very different worlds (and hearts!) collide, the results of which are highly entertaining as well as heart meltingly romantic. I particularly liked the relationship between the high maintenance Juliette and the eager to please Fran. Acting as part babysitter, part confidante, part drinking partner and playmate Fran’s dream job is far from plain sailing. Her scenes with Juliette aboard the yacht make up the majority of the comedic element of the novel and as someone whose guilty pleasure is to binge watch the tv series Below Deck these had instant appeal. I liked that the humour doesn’t verge on the ridiculous which can so often be the case in romcoms. Lesley Kelk has got the balance just right. As for the romance aspect you can expect exploding fireworks both real and imaginary, scenes that are the jewel in the crown of a narrative that glitters and sparkles like a thousand tiny diamonds. The one truly unforgettable night that the title alludes to possesses a dream like quality containing so much emotion in terms of desire, excitement and anticipation you feel giddy on behalf Fran who can’t quite believe she’s living in this moment. I could imagine her pinching herself to make sure she isn’t hallucinating! There was a sense of wide eyed wonderment as if Fran was a child let loose in a sweet shop! Sending hearts all of a flutter (and that’s not just Fran!) giving you that butterflies in the stomach feeling, Lindsey Kelk has gifted her readers the kind of dashing romantic knight in shining armour usually only found in childhood fairytales. What’s not to love?

There’s that magical undefinable ingredient in the author’s writing that makes connecting with the characters a piece of cake. Fran, Juliette and Evan are the obvious stars but the supporting cast are the perfect mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly. I really warmed to Fran but she’s in denial, making the classic mistake of putting other peoples happiness before her own, thereby making herself utterly miserable. Learning what makes her happy and being brave enough to change her life accordingly is not easy but it’s a valuable life lesson we could all take heed of. Happiness might be one of the most sought after emotional states but some of these characters are living proof even money (and lots of it!) won’t buy you your happy ever after!

No doubt this novel will be too cliched and gender stereotypical for some readers but I couldn’t have cared less. The chance to escape into a world where your romantic wishes are fulfilled is just too an inviting opportunity to miss. How I’ve got to the age of 50 plus without having previously read a Lindsey Kelk novel I’ve no idea! On A Night Like This far exceeded my expectations so I’ll be stocking up on plenty more of her novels to see me through my winter hibernation. I rarely give 5 stars for romantic comedies, however much I’ve enjoyed them but feel compelled to do so on this occasion. If this were ever to be made into a film I’d be right there at the front of the queue! All in all this is a heavenly blissful read and can recommend without hesitation.

My thanks as always to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a good romance comedy very well thought out good characters and interesting plot line that seemed to be well thought out with a great pace I liked this overall but I felt like there was a distance so I couldn’t fully immerse myself in the book.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

The story is about Fran, an external executive assistant, who has a fiancé named Stew. Since they moved to the suburbs, they decided that they wouldn’t take any jobs based in London. But then, one comes along for Fran, which requires her to sign a NDA, and finding herself on board a luxury yacht, which is heading for island of Panarea, to the Crystal Ball with Juliette.

But things don’t go to plan and she finds herself at the ball, alone …… where she meets Evan, between them they set some rules for the night - don’t ask last names or personal info. But throughout the night, she’s left thinking about everything of her life and about herself. It seems Fran will be a different person going home….

It was great to see her standing up for herself, really letting people know what she thinks. The scenes between her and Evan just magical. The night is a lifetime experience for Fran.

So, if a heartwarming, with lots of magic and sparkle is the sort of book you want to read, this is for you.

Recommend this book.

This is the 4th book I’ve read by Lindsey Kelk and just like the other 3 it did not disappoint. I loved this story so much and I thought Fran was a very likeable and relatable protagonist. I also really enjoyed the glitz and glamor side of this book with Fran being thrown into a world of celebrities, yachts and exclusive balls for a once in a lifetime job opportunity. Evan was also such a great character, I really enjoyed getting to know him over the course of the evening that he and Fran spent together and it was also great seeing Fran start to realise that everything she thought made her happy, including her fiancé, were actually the things that were holding her back from realising what she truly wanted out of her life.
Overall I really enjoyed this and definitely recommend if you’re interested in a feel good, humorous and romantic story.

This is such a feel-good read! Definitely one to stow away and enjoy as the night's start drawing in!

I simply adored Fran, what a wonderful character! Honest, loyal, down-to-earth and hard-working. I think she represents lots of women who have put themselves second for their partner, family, etc and her journey of self-discovery was really inspiring to read. It will speak volumes to many who want to become a stronger, more independent woman who, rightly, puts their happiness first.

Lindsey Kelk has done a fantastic job describing the world of the celebrity with the immensely luxury yacht and the completely over-the-top Crystal Ball (which I've no doubt versions of which actually do exist within the insane billionaire celebrity world!).

And of course, I can't not mention Evan who whilst being incredibly handsome, was also really funny and genuine - the conversations between Fran and Evan were hilarious at times to read.

A modern-day Cinderella story which highlights the importance of self-growth as a woman. Loved it!
