I love it when you read a book where you immediately feel comfortable with the characters. Where you know that if this were real life, you would be friends.
This is how i feel when reading most Lindsey Kelk books. She has this amazing knack of writing relatable characters, even the supporting ones, who are just so real.
So when i started this book yesterday, it was no surprise to me that within a matter of minutes, I was completely immersed.
Fran lives with Stew and is looking for a job. Any job will do but on the run up to Christmas, there aren't many in Sheffield.
So when Fran accepts a temporary job as assistant to a celebrity she gets to leave the grey skies of Sheffield for the blue skies of the mediterranean onboard a luxury yacht.
Fran is in charge of getting Julliette, the famous singer, to The Crystal Ball which is "THE" event of the year if you are a billionaire.
What happens on this night though, is that instead of hiding away in the hotel room, Fran gets to have the most unforgettable night of her life.
I finished this book feeling grateful for my female friends and with a Kylie ear worm.
This is a book about friendship, finding strength, celebrity and being true to yourself.
A very rare 5 stars on Goodreads from me.

I really enjoyed this book - romance with a twist, how the other half party and culminating in Christmas. The descriptions of Sheffield amused me as I’m soon to relocate there and already find the hills a workout

I adored this book. I laughed out loud numerous times, loved the plot and main characters and couldn’t put the book down. As a self confessed organisation freak this book was completely up my street and as always from this author the book was a joy to read.

My first by Lindsey Kelk and honestly ? It was so much fun!!
Premise: When Fran Cooper accepts a mysterious temporary job as a PA to a celebrity, she is swept off her feet overnight. Working with internationally famous singer Juliette, Fran is the person charged with getting Juliette to the Crystal Ball, the glittering event when the world’s rich and famous gather on Panarea, a beautiful Mediterranean island, for a night like no other.
What Fran doesn’t know is that on this one night, everything will change for her too – that instead of standing on the sidelines, she’ll be putting on the most beautiful dress she’s ever seen and having the most unforgettable night of her life…
Review: this book was like a nice warm hug after an exhausting day. It’s funny, quirky, swoony and perfect book to pick up between heavy reads. Evan has my heart!
Definitely going to pick up more of Lindsey Kelk’s work after this one!

Do you believe in Cinderella and that a night can change your life forever? It doesn’t matter what’s your answer, there’s no one who doesn’t want a better life, am I right?
This is the story of Fran Cooper, she is blocked in her life, searching for a job she likes while her boyfriend pretends to run her life. So, when she has a good job offer for 5 days in London, she can’t say no… the money sounds good but she is also intrigued by who she will be working for. As you can imagine, the job will not be as funny and easy as she hopes, but will put her life in a different perspective and maybe give her the push to change her life trajectory. Ready for your Christmas ball?
I am quite biased with the story, I enjoyed the read, but it also felt too short, I would have loved to read more than only a few days in Fran’s life, to know how everything continued in Fran’s life and discover more of her assignments.
Maybe this will not be the only book featuring Fran and her special jobs? I hope not! She is funny, brave and direct; something I really admire and would love to be more like her.
This is a story to make you dream, but not for the perfect partner but to be a better person and fulfill your dreams.
Are you ready for “On a Night Like This”?

Gorgeous chick lit read which was read in one sitting! The story is basically boy meets girl who is engaged to someone else but it is not a great relationship. She then takes a temp job as a personal assistant, not knowing who it’s for. She gatecrashes a star studded ball, The Crystal Ball, which is invite only where she promptly remeets someone she literally bumped into earlier that day. What ensues is nothing less than Cinderella, rags to riches love story. Will certainly put a smile on your face.

I am a huge Lindsey Kelk fan so I was so excited to receive and ARC of this. This was such a dreamy read and I loved it from start to finish. It features a lot of Kelk's quick with, one liners and a lot of cheese! The book is basically a cute love story but has some deeper moments interwoven into the storyline.
Fran is a great character with a lot of depth. She develops well throughout the book and I really felt like I knew her. She felt like a friend and I rooted for her throughout. She goes on a great journey and one I can relate to a lot.
This read like a modern day Cinderella (Evan is Prince Charming and I want one) but I loved that about it! Sure some parts felt unbelievable or cheesy but I loved that!
Overall this was a funny and heart warming read that I really enjoyed reading.

Lindsey Kelk is my go-to author when I need whisking away on a wonderful adventure and “On a Night Like This” fulfilled this very premise.
Fran has been hired for five nights to be a personal assistant to a very high- profile client. She needs to escape and rethink her future, especially as her boyfriend, Stew seems to be spending more time with his ex than with her.
This book ignited my imagination with the beautiful settings, glamourous people, sequins and sunsets and fireworks! And at the very heart of it all is Fran, someone I believed in and wanted to call a friend.

What a delightful read. Pure escapism, great characters and a fairy tale ending, I did guess how it would end which did bring a tear to my eyes! Would thoroughly recommend to others.

Couldn't have been happier to delve into the eARC of On A Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk. You know you're in good hands when you pick up one of her novels.
I loved this story. The friendships, old and new, and the dazzling Crystal Ball led me to another world. Fran was a great main character and following her journey to accepting what she wanted was great. Very empowering.
I couldn't help but picture Juliette as Hayden Panitierre when she played Juliette Barnes in Nashville. Just me?!

I quite enjoyed this rather far fetched light hearted read. A true escape into a glamourous world full of rich people with money to burn but little taste and lots of bling. Good set of characters in bizarre situations but a good laugh along the way as the contrasts between Fran an ordinary girl from Sheffield meets the privileged world of the nouveau riche. This is my first read from Lindsey Kelk but it won't be the last for a thoroughly entertaining read plus my daughters are massive fans so this will hit the Christmas list for them.

Total escapism. It’s utterly perfect, and a wonderful antidote to real life. I flew through it, and enjoyed every minute, from celebrity high jinks to happy endings and new love.

I loved this feel good, warm and laugh out loud funny story. What happens if you take a chance……well written, a likeable main character, some good insight and back story and truly hilarious moments. One to read.

I found the main character of this book really hard to like. The writing was good. The story, I can't really decide if I enjoyed it or not.I guess it was an ok read, this book has barely any romance and was more about a women trying to find herself after being a long term relationship which I think is why I didn't like it as much as I thought. I usually like my stories with a bit more sizzle.
Thanks for the opportunity to review.

5* A great fun story on taking a chance and saying yes instead of the usual no. Sensible Fran Cooper is fed up, in between PA jobs and unsure of life with her long term boyfriend.
She says yes to a short term highly paid job offer that means leaving home for 5 days, it’s high profile & no details until she signs the non-disclosure, a chance of a lifetime. And Fran ends up on an adventure that changes her life forever

A gorgeous romcom full of glamorous characters and laugh out loud moments. Delightful reading to whisk you away for a few hours. 5 sparkling stars!

4 Stars
One Liner: Lighthearted, warm, and comforting.
Fran Cooper is looking for a job that doesn’t require traveling. She’s been an assistant to various corporate personalities in the past. However, not finding any decent job makes her give a shot at being the PA of a mysterious celebrity for an event.
The job takes her to a yacht that sails from London to Italy for The Crystal Ball event. Juliette, an international singer, is Fran’s boss and will be performing at the event.
However, things don’t go as planned. Fran gets a chance to enjoy the ball, wearing a fabulous gown and having a time of her life. Despite her initial hesitation, Fran enters the ball and has adventures, some of which she could’ve done without.
Yet, the event changes her. Helps her come to terms with things in her life and make decisions she should’ve made a long time ago.
Many reviewers have pointed out the Cinderella-like feel of the story. In fact, there’s a reference to the fairytale a couple of times. The book is a lighthearted contemporary fiction that still deals with issues like relationships, friendships, knowing one’s true desire, and so on.
The book is written in the first person from Fran’s perspective, and it was indeed a delight to read. She’s smart, funny, and caring; a little too caring, which leads to her suffering in silence and accepting less than what she deserves. The story takes us through her self-realization, her growth, and finally, her finding true love.
Romance isn’t the central point of the book. We still have HEA, though. Fran’s been engaged to Stew, someone I’d gladly drown in a piping hot stew. I guess that explains the kind of guy he is.
Luckily, Fran meets Evan in the second half of the book, and he’s such a sweet and understanding guy. His outlook about life and calling it a jigsaw puzzle was rather interesting to read. That guy is a keeper.
Other characters like Jess, Sarah, Juliette, and even Rachel (who’s there in the book for only a couple of chapters) are full of life and have defined personalities. Sure, the story relies on well-known tropes and doesn’t really have anything new to offer.
Yet, it’s a warm and cheerful story to read. There’s comfort in picking up such books, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Not even when Fran says and does things that’ll make us roll our eyes (Such instances are not too many. Her arc is better than other ramblings heroines).
To sum up, On a Night Like This is a funny, sweet, quirky, and light read. It’s a perfect breather between heavy books. It also has a great pace despite being 380+ pages long.
Thank you, NetGalley and Harper Collins, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This story would make a fabulous Disney Movie and I really enjoyed it. It was a little predictable and not very true to life, but if you love an enchanting romance this book is for you.
Fran Cooper's life is a bit of a mess. Her controling fiance has stopped her doing the job she wanted as he doesn't like her traveling, they live in a house that used to belong to his Nana and is still a shrine to her, and he shows her little or no affection - he keeps that for his ex girlfriend. When Fran gets a call from one of the agencies she works for who are being very secretive about the job on offer, Fran decided to go to London for the interview, very much against her boyfriend's wishes.
This is the job that will change Fran's life. She will turn from the average duckling to the beautiful swan, and meet some exciting new people who will change her forever.
A lovely, fun, fast story which will take you into the realms of fantasy, and leave you smiling.

Another home run from Lindsey Kelk! On a Night Like This is a fresh and fun romantic comedy as we have all come to expect from this author. The pace of the story is perfect and all the characters are super believable - I found this hard to put down!
