As a huge Lindsey Kelk fan I was eager to get my hands on this book and it did not disappoint!

On a Night Like This is a story of friendship, romance and finding yourself, with a little bit of magic thrown in. I felt as if I was right there with our modern day Cinderella Fran whilst she was being whisked off her feet at a ball for the rich and famous.

This book is a lovely take on the classic fairytale and perfect for fans of Lindsey's other books!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Never met a lynsey Kelk book that I haven't enjoyed and this book is not the exception.
A bit confused by Fran initially but soon she had a place in my heart and I was routing for her.
Enjoy her escapades and fun with the mega rich a sort of modern day Cinderella.

I do like Lindsey Kelk books. They're light and fun, easy and enjoyable to read. On a Night Like This is a Cinderella story and while I'm not usually a big fan of fairytale retellings, this one is original enough to work really well. Not so much a retelling, more 'inspired by', I'd say. As expected from Kelk, the characters are a mix of relatable and aspirational, the plot glides along smoothly, and the romance is swoon-worthy. A great read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins for an ARC of 'On a Night Like This' in exchange for an honest review.

Ahhh Lindsey's done it again! This book gave me all the cosy feels that I've come to know and expect from a Lindsey Kelk book. I'll start with the one and the only issue I have with this book....it has got me hooked on 'Below Deck', which I'm not sure is a good thing but hey, influence.

Fran Cooper is a woman who is at a crossroads in life. Continue with the safe, familiar life she's made with her fiance or take a risk to become a happier version of herself. One unexpected opportunity thrusts her into the world of superstar Juliette, a world Fran isn't sure she belongs but one that sends her on a path of self-discovery and fate. All my favourite things when it comes to women's fiction.

Insert charming Evan here...

What I really enjoy about Lindsey Kelk's writing is it's familiar, the references are always instantly recognisable and she creates friendships amongst the most unlikely groups of people to be friends. This book was exactly what I wanted to read to get me excited for Autumn and Christmas and I hope to read more on Fran Cooper's adventures.

If you loved the 'I Heart' series, this is for you. I didn't think there'd be a leading man that gave Alex a run for his money but I was wrong.

Gifted e-arc from Harper Collins and Net Galley. Lindsey Kelk has done it again, This book was lovely, funny and wholesome. Some of the events were a little far fetched but as Lindsey notes in the acknowledgement 2020 was a year and this was exactly the kind of escapism we all need, really heartwarming. This book backs up why Lindsey is an auto-buy author for me. This is also a great Christmas read, would be perfect for a cosy evening in.

LINDSEY KELK – ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS *****

I read this novel in advance of publication through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Everything I moaned about in the romance I reviewed last week, which shall be nameless, this romance does the opposite. No flurries of surplus adverbs, well written, a good solid story that is magical and a heroine who is ballsy and modern and relevant, with humour and real emotions.

You are hooked from the first page and keep wanting to read. Francesca is an out-of-work PA with problems at home with a husband who seems to be getting too close to his ex, and when the opportunity of a mysterious job comes around grasps it with both hands. The job turns out to be working as the PA for a world-famous pop star, Juliette, who is a total nightmare. She changes PA’s more often than most people change their underwear.

Francesca is hired to supervise and shepherd Juliette on her million-pound yacht and keep her out of trouble. Things go wrong, of course, and the function that Juliette was meant to sing at, the annual Crystal Ball, high-flyers and billionaires only, has to do without her.

I don’t want to give any more than that away, as the journey is so well told, but, obviously, this being a romance, Francesca meets the man of her dreams. It’s convenient that, though she loves her husband, she feels they can no longer live together and needs to move on. The outcome is obvious, otherwise the story would belong to another genre, but this book is so convincingly and amusingly told that you almost cheer when the inevitable happens.

A joy to read such a well-written and enjoyable book.

Fran Cooper's life is stretching before her in a well smoothed path of grey dreariness. With a miniscule support network, a boyfriend who seems to consider monogamy a suggestion rather than rule and a career that has ground to a disappointing halt, Fran spends most of her people pleasing energy trying to convince herself that she is happy.

Then, with a gentle nudge Fran takes on one small, top secret, 5 day temp job which causes her to face her feelings and re-evaluate her life in a warm, funny and utterly charming modern take on Cinderella. A really nice, lovely read and just perfect to curl up with for Christmas.

This was the perfect escapist read, taking me from being stuck at home to the glamour of a luxury yacht to a little Italian port (I really liked Fran and Evan's meet-cute in the shop) to an extravagant ball.
I loved Fran as a character. She was easy to relate to and incredibly likable. And because of that I could easily put myself in her shoes. I actually felt like I saw a lot of myself in her, which made me even more excited to see how her story would turn out.

I enjoyed the romantic elements and Evan as a character for us to root for her being with. But I also liked that it wasn't all about going from one relationship into another or having her being in a relationship, albeit an unhappy one and then having a torrid affair one night whilst pretending to be someone else. Evan's jigsaw analogy is also a stand out and something I won't forget anytime soon.

This was a brilliant book and whether you're a fan of Lindsey's back catalogue or not, I cannot recommend On A Night Like This highly enough!

Fran’s brain is my favorite place to be. There is something so wholesome about British chick-lit. Some kind of spark, youthfulness and playfulness that American chick-lit lacks. I’m not sure if it’s kind or not, but Fran reminded me of Bridget Jones. I *love* Bridget, so no offense meant Lindsey Kelk. This book felt like coming home. Before I discovered thrillers, I read a lot of British chick-lit, some of my first being Kelk’s “I Heart…” series. I absolutely adored this book, it was the breath of fresh air I needed. And I really hope to hear more from Fran soon.

This book is perfect for the dark and cold winter nights. It will make you laugh and, escape the dreary evenings of Winter. As always Kelk never fails to deliver. Each book makes you smile and forget about the bad day you are having. It's a fun and lovely book and will definitely put a smile of your face

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this fabulous book!
This is the perfect book to get you out of a reading slump or to follow a heavy read, I couldn’t put it down and read it in a day!
Fran’s character was empowering and it was great to see her build in strength and confidence throughout the book. After been a people pleaser for most of her life, Fran finally starts to think about what it is that she wants and after one magical night has the courage to put herself first. Definitely recommend.

This a brilliant read. I loved the main character and following her story and seeing how she dealt with the situation thrown at her. I loved what it had to say about being happy and not settling for something that isn’t quite right in life

Not quite as festive as I might have wished for, but a great read nonetheless. It’s a modern and fairly glamorous take on the Cinderella story, complete with a yacht! Yes, some parts are a little implausible, but hey, it’s a fantasy so isn’t that the point?! I thought it was a fun escapist rom com.

A lovely modern Cinderella style rom-com to thoroughly warm your cockles on a chilly winter night.

Lindsay Kelk’s heroines are always the type of young woman that you naturally root for and would choose to be friends with and loveable, quirky, Francesca is no exception - will she follow her heart and find true romance when she is suddenly offered a glamorous job as personal assistant to a temperamental superstar on a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean, or will she remain safely in Sheffield and settle down with her long-time boyfriend, always wondering ‘what if’? I don’t think I really need to answer that one, do I? Reader, Fran takes the job and that’s when the fun all starts.

As moreish as a tray of chocolates with a side order of Prosecco, ‘On A Night Like This’ ticks all the boxes when the only book you want to read is the new Lindsey Kelk. A real treat.

Many thanks to Harper Collins, to Ms Kelk and to NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this terrific book.

This is my first Lindsey Kelk book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
A lovely little Cinderella story set in some very glamorous locations.
Fran is an assistant who gets a job looking after an unpredictable pop star, Juliette. Her sole aim is to get Juliette sober and safe to a performance at the Crystal Ball, the event of the year for the very rich and famous.
I loved the section set on the Songbird yacht.
The book lost me a little towards the end. I think when you can anticipate an ending, you don't need too long to reach it!
Overall an enjoyable, entertaining read.

Another fun, good read from Lindsey Kelk, delivering what she does well in her usual comedic romantic approach.
Until her fiancée’s new job and his temporary indiscretion required her to move away from London, up north, Fran was building a successful career as a personal assistant. Now, she can’t seem to find her feet in both her relationship and her career. In an attempt to earn money she accepts a weekend-long temporary position as a personal assistant and finds herself in a Cinderella moment on an island attending society's important and most celebrated event, the Crystal Ball. There she also meets Evan, the one person who is not impressed by the ball, but knows his way around. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for Fran and she’s determined to enjoy it. The premise may be a little far fetched, but it’s so much fun to read, that any kind of fairy tale moment is all that you want in such a warm and feel good novel.

A rom com style book with more than a hint of cinderella. A little sweet for me but fans of Lindsey Kelk are going to love it. Thank you Netgalley for advance copy

I guess I’m not the correct target audience for this book. Is it possibly aimed at YA? I didn’t find myself even smiling, far less screeching with laughter, as reported by other reviewers. And I do have a very good sense of humour.
This was cliched and silly, and I have to say I am so tired of the theme where the female protagonist is in a long term relationship with a control freak male partner, and willingly overlooks his serial infidelity, as well as giving up all pretence at a fulfilling life of her own for the wants and desires of said male.
This is made worse by the protagonist being portrayed as a strong, capable intelligent woman capable of holding down a high- profile responsible job. ( The last such woman was a partner in a very high profile legal practice in London.)
The story progresses to the heroine inevitably finding her handsome, all round good guy Prince Charming, as the last such heroine did.
The storylines just don’t ring true for me, I’m sorry to say. I utterly failed to connect with this story or it’s characters. This was a DNF for me.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this book.

This was a fun, romantic read with likeable and believable characters. Some of the situations the characters find themselves in may be slightly implausible but I can forgive that!

The dialogue was witty and made me laugh out loud at several points. It was a modern take on the traditional fairytale and I did enjoy the moments that weren’t as predictable as I expected.

As much as I loved the instant bond between Evan and Fran, I also liked the female friendships throughout the book.

It was a lovely read, full of optimism and wit and I found myself smiling throughout. Since it’s been touted as the ‘feel-good Christmas romcom of 2021’ I would have preferred a more festive vibe. I felt other than the ending, the story could honestly have been set at any time of year. However this is just a minor niggle from someone obsessed with Christmas!

Overall it was fun, romantic and witty. A lovely read.

A really great story which kept me hooked in from start to finish. 2 great stories rolled into one as there is the work/friendship and then the love story.
