When life is getting to you then it is time to try something new, and that is what Fran Cooper does when she accepts a job as a PA to an A -lister Juliette after 12 years living with her boyfriend in his late Gran's home and wearing her ring. She has given so much up and is now regretting her lack of propects andher rut of a life.. After signing the NDA agreement she looks forward to travelling to Italy to an A -list event the Crystal Ball where Juliette is to perform for the charity. But after getting very drunk with her star and enjoying dressing up she finds herself hungover and now suffering from Diva-like performances from Juliette and ends up stranded on the island with no clothes and the awkward fact that all her carefully drawn up plans are dissolving in front of her and her reputation as an unflappable PA is in tatters. Like Cinderella she meets up with Evan and American who asks no questions but makes sure that she has a great time at the Ball despite a group of folk trying to find out who and where she has come from. This novel by Lindsey Kelk is the first I have read by her and the comedic timing certainly makes one laugh out loud. It is a perfect novel to be read in the depths of a winter's day with the sunshine and the magic of Italy shining through.

Fran Cooper is living an average life and thinks she’s happy, but maybe not happy enough….
So when a short term contract crops up, as a personal assistant to an A lister for a few days, she jumps at the chance to earn a good salary and be back home with her fiancé in Sheffield within a week.
Looking after Juliette, gives her an insight into the world of the rich and famous, luxury yachts, helicopters and designer clothing and a chance to be at the A lister event of the year, where’s she meet the most charming man on the planet.
None of this will change her, or turn her world upside down….. or will it?
I fun tale of one girls realisation that we all deserve the best, not second best….
A fab read, with lots of laughs along the way!

What a fantastic book....I absolutely loved.
The modern day Cinderella story in the life of Fran which takes her to the Crystal Ball where she meets the man of her dreams.
But true love never runs smoothly ........or does it?
A very funny and utterly captivating book. Perfect on the cold winter evenings.
Loved it. ❤️

Thoroughly enjoyable rom-com loosely based on a Cinderella type story. We find our heroine Francesca who is an amazing PA and looking for a great new job and more excitement in her life than settling for her childhood sweetheart, who quite frankly takes her for granted.
Next we see her as PA to a pop icon and notorious diva Juliette, travelling to Italy for her new boss to sing at a huge charity function.
Fran throws all caution to the wind making friends with the prickly diva and falling for a Prince Charming at the ball.
Good escapist story with a decent amount of feel good factor and likeable characters.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED this! I loved the character of Fran - someone who's "more Monica than Rachel without so much of a hint of Phoebe" but who's also so so funny. For example, describing the house she lives in as a "nana museum" or declaring "Oh my god, I'm offal" during a meltdown about her and boyfriend Stew merging into one person where he's the good bits, ie arms and legs, and she's the boring but vital inside bits. And, it's not just Fran that's funny, the writing is brilliantly funny with plenty of smart observations such as dancing being "intrinsically embarrassing for ninety-nine percent of humans.". There's also plenty of situational humour too including one of my favourite scenes where she gets drunk onboard a yacht and ends up stealing the captain's hat and screeching "I'm the captain now!" This is a modern day Cinderella type story, with great characters, a peek into the lives of the rich and famous, and plenty of lols! I can not recommend enough!

On a Night Like This by Lindsey Kelk.
Within days of wishing she could change her life, Fran Cooper is acting assistant to a celebrity, on a yacht in the Mediterranean, and en route to a tiny Italian island and the glittering Crystal Ball, along with the world’s rich and famous.
When she – quite literally – bumps into a handsome American called Evan, a man able to keep his cool in the face of chaos, the magic really begins.
Evan makes her a promise: no last names, no life stories, just one unforgettable night. Yet Evan belongs at the Crystal Ball and Fran is a gatecrasher. They may be soulmates, but their homes are an ocean apart, and their lives a world apart. They’ll never meet again – unless, on a night like this, everything can change forever…
A brilliant read. Captivating Read. I loved it.t took me away. 5*.

What do you get when you thrust an ordinary Yorkshire lass into the dizzying world of the rich and famous? Hilarious consequences! Francesca is a confident, efficient, unflappable PA, until she tumbles into the world of pop diva Juliette. Ignoring her niggling concerns over her own miserable engagement, she follows all the rules, while those around her break them. Abandoned by her petulant employer, she braves the opulent Crystal Ball alone. Appalled and fascinated by the obscene money-centred event, she finds herself befriended by the gorgeous Evan. But she's engaged, and sticks to her sinking decision to remain faithful.
This story was terrific fun, taking a woman from a realistic, everyday existence, and dropping her into such alien territory. I laughed out loud! It would make a great RomCom.

This was a very entertaining and humorous read. Really immersive, I read this in one sitting. . The characters are engaging with a relatable quality , you want love to conquer all . A real feel good read and just the thing if you need a pick me up.

It's been more than a few years since I've read a Lindsey Kelk, (way back in my mid 20s when I loved the I heart series actually)
But even though my own life has changed so much since then and I'm a "grown up" with responsibilities, I really enjoyed this as a brilliant bit of pure escapism and a quick and easy read.
I enjoyed Fran's story and found her to be likeable and I was rooting for her from the start to ditch her loser boyfriend and get to go to the ball.
An enjoyable read with a few laugh out loud moments.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my eARC in return for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book - it's pure escapism! Fran accepts a temporary job as personal assistant to famous singer, Juliette. She finds herself on a luxury yacht heading for a small Mediterranean island, where Juliette is singing at the legendary Crystal Ball for the unbelievably rich and famous. Things don't exactly go according to plan, and Fran finds herself gate crashing the ball and meeting handsome American Evan. I recommend this as a good read on a grey November day. It certainly cheered me up! Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.

I am new to the work of Lindsey Kelk but am now a fan. This is a wonderful lighthearted rom com with well drawn characters. Francesca, Stew and Evan provide lots of comedic moments as well as pulling at your heartstrings when things are going belly up! It is a well crafted book, uplifting and fun. It would make a great movie as it spans ordinary scatty girl next door right through to the ultra glam world of super yachts and the amazing Crystal Ball, where money is no object. Definitely recommend it .

My first Lindsey Kelk book and what an absolute belter! I absolutely adored it! Such a lovely story with some real emotion and a good mix of humour. It just left me with a big goofy smile on my face at the end! I will definitely not hesitate to pick up one of her other books if this is anything to go on. Brilliant!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
How to tell you are reading a Lindsey Kelk book:
- there is at least one reference to Percy Pigs and/or Taylor Swift
- the main character is a loveable disaster
- you laugh out loud regularly
"Whats the worst that could happen?"
"The last time you said that we ended up in lockdown for a year."
This book is filled, once again, with Kelk's wonderful brand of humour throughout and I am always here for all the pop culture references - especially any and all references to Chris Evans!
This book is a Cinderella re-telling and I loved the glamorous world that Fran found herself in. Kelk's description of the yacht and the Crystal Ball made to so easy to imagine the magical setting and atmosphere. The characters are realistic and loveable and the plot moves along at a good pace. Kelk's writing is easy to read - the perfect brand of escapism.
P.S I did have the Kylie song in my head the whole time I was reading this, doh!

Unemployed Fran Cooper is living in Yorkshire with her boyfriend of 12 years living in his grandmothers house that was left to him after she died.
Fran is bored having previously had an exciting job in London travelling the world as a personal assistant, a job she loved. She'd reluctantly agreed to stop the travelling when she became engaged to Stew and he now wants her to become a teacher. They're going through a bad patch at the moment but hoping that it is just a patch. Desperate for work in the run up to Christmas, she rings a previous agency who finds her a job working away but only for 5 days. As it is for such a limited amount of time, Fran signs the NDA agreement and travels to London to her interview.
She is successful in her interview and starts immediately complete with new wardrobe and a very concise instructions of how to be an assistant to celebrity singer Juliette. The job is to get Juliette to the island of Panarea in Italy to perform at the very exclusive Crystal Ball. The journey is via a luxury yacht. A simple task? Fran is thrown by expecting a difficult diva but instead found her so friendly that they both got very drunk together as if they were firm friends.
The following morning, Fran finds herself and a now very uncooperative and demanding Juliette with a hangover. Still, Fran has a job to do and when Fran goes ashore to fulfil Juliette's demands, she bumps into a handsome man. No time for handsome men, Fran rushes back to the yacht to find it gone. Stranded in Italy in the clothes she's stood in and no passport or money, Fran makes her way to the hotel to sit out and wait for a helicopter to wait and collect her. Uncharacteristically, Fran gate-crashes the Crystal Ball where Juliette was was supposed to be performing and sees the handsome man she bumped into earlier.
This is a funny light hearted read with likeable characters and romance thrown in too!

An easy read, ideal for relaxing on holiday with a cocktail or two. Fairly predictable plot of young girl in search of adventure falling on her feet with an amazing job and even more amazing romance.

If you only read one book this season (or indeed any season as it’s not full of Christmas-stuff so easily enjoyed on the beach in summer or cosied up in front of the fire in winter) make it this one. By far the best book I’ve read this year, I absolutely loved it, so much so I read it in one sitting (well, one ‘lying’ as I do all of my reading in bed at night). This book is the reason I had less than 2 hours sleep last night, because I couldn’t stop reading it, I had to keep turning the page and continuing being immersed in the gorgeous story … while also trying hard not to wake my husband up, (who was fast asleep & snoring beside me) with my intermittent giggles, as there are some really perfectly comically written pieces within this book.
The perfect modern-day Cinderella story, but so much better than that description conjures up - Lindsey Kelk is a fairy godmother, weaving her magic through the gift of words.

This was a very easy read and I'm sure most readers of this genre would find it perfectly adequate. I only gave it 3 stars as I was never invested in the characters, they just lacked depth. I'm probably showing my age, but I consider Jilly Cooper and Fiona Walker to be the standard for this genre, and this one didn't even come close.

This one is like a warm hug, perfect for this time of year. Snuggle up and prepare to lose yourself. This is a page turner that sucks you in from the very first line. I really enjoyed the witty banter throughout and i think Fran is someone we can all relate to in some way. This book is an absolute delight.

This book gave me modern day Cinderella vibes.
A great rom-com read set against the back drop of the glamour of the celebrity life style and a huge prestige event. Fran gets thrust into the forefront as she acts as a PA for a top celebrity. Romance, friendship and finding what you want in life.

Cute, fun, and cinderellaish winter-themed story.
I disliked Stew, liked Fran, our main woman, and I felt for Juliette even if she was a diva. Then there's Evan, he was fun and cute in a good way.
The storyline was amusing and slightly fantastical. Fran was an entertaining character but was stuck in life and needed the break to see what's out there. She certainly had a glimpse of a different life!
The ending was not a happy ever after, but definitely happier than she was at the start of the book.
