Whilst this is not my favourite of the trilogy - I liked the first one best, when the children were just learning of the island's secrets - it was a fitting, action-packed ending to an exciting trilogy.
It was the audiobook version I had of this book and the only reason it is 4stars is because I really did not like the voices they did for the characters . The rest of the book was amazing !
This is the perfect adventure story for young readers , the characters in it are described so well and it flows nicely throughout the story without losing the reader (or listeners) attention. This is the 3rd book in the Storm Keepers series (and the first one I have read/listened too) this book does work as a stand alone kind of book , it doesn't feel like you have missed out on much but I would recommend reading them in order so you get to know the characters more.
Fionn Boyle is the Storm Keeper who is facing the fight of his life , the powerful Morrigan has risen from the dead and has sealed off the island so they can't have any help. The only thing standing in Morrigan's way is Fionn.... can he defeat her and save the island ?
This is a great adventure for young readers to enjoy and get their teeth sunk into , if you have a child that loves adventure books this is a great series for them!
When I requested this title, I did not realise it was the third title in a series as the covers look so similar.
The narrator was fantastic and keep me entertained. However, I felt like I had come in halfway through a series (which I had!) so at times found it difficult to follow who was who and their relationship to each other. I think the author tried to fill in the back story to prevent this, but as an audio book it is harder to flick back is you have misunderstood.
I loved the character of Fionn, but needed to have read the other titles to fully appreciate this title. I will revisit it when I have managed to read the other titles!

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to review this book because I think I would have been missing out if I hadn't.
Not all books that set ancient folklore and legend in a modern setting pull it off, but this one really did, in a way that, to me, was reminiscent of Alan Garner's books, and Susan Cooper's 'The Dark is Rising'; books that I have a great nostalgic fondness for and Stormkeeper's Battle felt like it belonged with such classics.
The writing style is really engaging and lyrical in places, it's a really easy story to follow, yet there are several really nice almost poetic phrases scattered throughout.
The characters are extremely well written with great dialogue, personality, and believable relationships and emotions; even though I came to the third book cold, I really related to them, and was drawn in to their struggles, emotions, and humour.
The only reason this wasn't a 5 star rating for me was because I wasn't as invested in the characters as I could be, having said that, I did really feel some of the emotional points in the book, and I think a lack of connection on my part was largely down to the fact that I launched into this series on the final book.
A note on the format: The audiobook is extremely well done, the narrator, Patrick Moy, does a fantastic job, all of the characters sound different, the 'villains' are creepy, and he seems to read with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the story, and it's really nice to have an Irish actor reading the Irish legends. Patrick really did the format justice, I found myself breaking off from my work to listen closer. It would be a great road trip listen with the kids!
I think with the rising interest in Greek, Norse and other world mythological retellings, it's great to get British/Irish mythology woven into a modern adventure too. This will be a very popular read; I whole-heartedly recommend it, and will probably now go back and read the whole trilogy.
Fionn may have the storm keeper's magic but he still needs to learn how to harness it. With a centuries old enemy, he needs all the help he can get and the whole island will have to be on his side.
This is a thrilling conclusion to the storm keeper's trilogy, just as exciting as the first book and full of magic.
The narrator is great, perfect voices for all the different characters and I was never confused about who was speaking.
