Vegara's Michelle Obama explores the life of one of the most gracious of First Ladies. As a child and young adult, Michelle excelled in school and went on to go to law school. It was there that she met Barack Obama. Michelle's story is one of a person still living, and always such an inspiration! She's worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around her, especially advocating for girls and women.

The entire Little People, Big Dreams series is an awesome introduction to biographical reading for young audiences. Not only that, but they focus on the most inspirational of people from science, entertainment, sports, politics and more. It's also a very diverse series.

The end of the book contains a more detailed look at life, using language suited for much older readers. Inspirational and educational both, this entire series is great! I read this with my cubs. We love this series! Highly recommended!

Michelle Obama is possibly the most well-known of the First Ladies...maybe that's due to my age or it could be the impact she and her family had on America and the wider world.
Written in the familiar style of this series with bright illustrations and simple language with a more detailed biography and further reading suggested at the back, this is a child-friendly introduction to the life of Michelle Obama. A great addition to the series, teaching young readers that they can do what ever they put their minds to.

With another addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series this one was probably the most current person my daughter and I have read together and so was probably even more interesting for her to read. Always full of just enough information to get you interested and to start a conversation whilst also not being overwhelming for younger children.

I loved reading this children's book!

it is such an inspirational book about Michelle Obama's life that can help children understand that their dreams can come true no matter where they come from.

Michelle Obama's story is an inspiration as she grew up in a small area in Chicago and worked hard all of her life to get where she is now. MIchelle is an inspiration to young children, young adults and adults.

When we hear the name Michelle Obama it would not be unreasonable to immediately think of her as being the wife of former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. However, to think of her like this would be to do her a great injustice as Michelle is quite the lady and her story is one that is definitely worth reading.

Michelle was born into a humble, close-knit family home on the south side of Chicago. As a child she lived by the words, “Study hard and be great.” She knew the importance of education and was determined to become the best person she could be and what a person she is. The high achieving graduate, trailblazing lawyer, former First Lady and activist who advocates for women, girls, healthy eating, fitness, education and the better lives of others is an icon, an inspiration and is the ultimate in cool…

This is yet another brilliant addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series and readers get to learn about the life of Michelle Obama, a black girl who was determined to be the best that she could be even when others didn’t believe in her. From humble beginnings to Princeton to Harvard to Chicago, where she practiced as a lawyer, all the way to the White House, Michelle Obama’s journey is quite something.

There is much more to Michelle Obama than her time in the White House as the First Lady and whilst Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara acknowledges this period of Michelle’s life, much of the biography gives the reader a much better understanding of Michelle's experiences and journey outside of the White House. Vegara highlights significant childhood moments, early involvement in helping others, some of the challenges that were faced growing up and where Michelle got her drive and determination from. What comes across throughout is that Michelle Obama is an all round wonderful human being and that no matter where she was, her humble home or standing on the White House lawn, she remained true to her values and beliefs.

Delightfully illustrated with bright and bold artwork and with a story told in short and simple sentences, Michelle’s story is empowering and will hopefully inspire children to dream big and to become the very best that they can be. Michelle has achieved her dreams and she would love for nothing more than for readers to achieve their dreams too, after all, nothing is impossible. At the back of the the book there is a short overview of her life to date which includes key facts and dates and a historical timeline featuring photographs.

The exceptional Little People, BIG DREAMS series prides itself on providing child-friendly biographies of renowned and outstanding public figures and in this, the sixty-second book in the series, we explore the life and times of former President Barack Obama’s wife and successful lawyer, Michelle Obama. This potted biography begins from her childhood years growing up on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, in a loving, connected family. After her father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Michelle worked to better the lives of others using her father as her inspiration.

When she met Barack Obama for the first time she was a prominent, trailblazing lawyer and activist. Using her platform to advocate for women, girls and the less fortunate, Michelle became history’s most powerful First Lady. Written in such an empowering fashion, this book gives children the message that they can achieve their dreams whatever they may be and shows that even when you're perceived as different you can be successful by just being yourself. What's impressive is there is just enough here to enable a child to become curious yet not enough to overwhelm, and the colourful, fun illustrations complement the text perfectly.

It's an educational and entertaining read that empowers young ones to pursue their dreams without limits and inspires children to dream bigger and realise their fullest potential, by introducing them to extraordinary people throughout history. It's a wonderfully engaging and simple to understand book that also helps kids with literacy and fosters an enjoyment of reading. You simply cannot go wrong with this series in general as everything is executed perfectly and tailored beautifully to youngsters. Highly recommended.

This is another brilliant addition to this series – even as an adult I look out for the next book in the series being released!

I love the images in this series and this is a delightful introduction to Michelle Obama. I do think that possibly the images if her could have been a but more complimentary but other than that it was a great book.

It shows that she has done a lot in her life and I am hoping that now she is out of the shadow of her husband she will get he exposure and recognition as she is just as remarkable in her own right - the book also shows how much of a team she was with Barack when she was the First Lady.

This series is an excellent introduction to some of the well-known, and less well-known characters that have had a great impact in our lives through a variety of subjects such as literature, the rights of minorities, political influence, women's rights and science.

It is 4 stars from me for this one – a delightful read and one I will be highly recommending!!

WoW! Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara books must be one of the best little books to purchase for children, these are the best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream.

So, this latest book is about Michelle Obama by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and is just brilliant throughout.
"Young Michelle grew up on the South Side of Chicago in a close-knit family. She loved school, achieving A’s, and worked hard to blaze trails at the universities of Princeton and Harvard. Then, at the beginning of her legal career, she met Barack Obama. As first lady, she used her platform to advocate for women and girls and continues to inspire many with her powerful voice, and best-selling books".

This is an empowering book which features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the inspiring woman’s life.

It's one book, you should definitely buy for your little readers so they can learn about this wonderful artist.

This is a short biography of Michelle Obama, chronicling her journey to the White House. Her determination, strength and passion shine through in the colourful illustrations.

I love the diversity of the people featured in this series. Artists, athletes, authors, activists, explorers, entertainers, musicians, scientists and now a first lady.

These biographies are age appropriate; inspiring and interesting, but not overwhelming. They have bright, beautiful illustrations, striking covers, and look great on a shelf together.

Thank you so much to Quarto/Frances Lincoln Childrens and Netgalley for the earc to read and review.

Michelle Obama is such an incredibly inspiring and powerful woman and I am so happy she has been included in this series. She is a wonderful woman for young girls in particular to look up too and think I want to be like her.

This book shares in a simple and easy way for younger readers all that she did in her life to get to where she is now, from her family struggles, to being pushed down by her teachers, to rising above it all and reaching the very top, to all the kindness and love she shares from her heart to help others constantly.

I love this book and am so happy it exists, if you are a fan of this book series you need this one, if you have a little dreamer of your own you need this book.

An expected and completely deserved addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series - this is a good way to introduce/explain the significance of Michelle Obama to children and how inspiring she is. I didn’t love the illustrations as much for this addition to the series but I think children will enjoy it.
