This is a wonderful story about a not so perfect heroine, Lady Annalee. Born a lady, she apparently refuses to act like one and as a result her 'charmed' life is a mess.
Annalee’s first love is her brother's best friend, Lord Wayland Smith. He is everything stiff and proper, at least now he is, but it wasn't always that way.
Annalee and Wayland have a past together that is known only to the two of them.
Wayland is currently a man with a mission to marry a perfect young woman of solid reputation and launch his younger sister into society. His objectives don't include saving Annalee from every social mishap she perpetually falls into without a reasonable explantion.
Yet, Annalee is stronger than anyone around her knows as she is suffering from an issue from her past that affects her life in a traumatic way.
If she is unable to control her problem it could cause dire consequences for her destiny.
Wayland can choose his future or hers, but would the decision he makes create a different path for both of them?
Really terrific story about two people, neither of whom is perfect, who share something unique in their pasts that binds them together. They each react to their shared past in a different way causing them to go off in divergent directions instead of staying together as they'd once intended. Now they have a second chance - but will they take it?
I also appreciated the character of Annalee and her dealing with a serious issue that even in our day is difficult to address. I thought the author's handling of the nature of Annalee's condition was done very well.
I highly recommend this book and think it's well worth spending an afternoon or evening with it. I did and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I read this as an arc but my opinions are my own.

They had grown up together, been childhood friends, then much more, at least until they were torn apart.

He had changed and tried to become upstanding, doing the right thing and acting in a respectable manner. She on the other hand had truly gone wild it seemed.

Years later when her brother asked him to make sure she was not going to scandalize him or cause trouble at his betrothal ball, he came up with a solution.

Two long lost lovers brought back together.... If only he can bring her back to respectability!Plus what about love?

Every time I pick up one of this author's books, I know I am in for an emotional, heartbreaking story that will have me using tissues by the dozens & this one was true to form but I always know there will be a smile on my face as I read "The End". I will remember Annalee & Wayland's story for a long time.

Annalee Spencer has been through so much in her past, but she is so strong, brave & kind. Even with all she has experienced, she still has the gumption & belief in helping other women needing aid. Wayland Smith has also dealt with devastation in his past & he deals with his past in an opposite way from Annalee, but it drove them in separate directions. They grew up being childhood friends, then later had a romance; then the Peterloo Massacre happened & tore their lives apart. After 9 years; love, memories & strength of Annalee & Wayland will pull them back together, but it will put you through an emotional wringer getting to their HEA. What a wonderful story & couple! I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

The Winchesters are a wild and crazy bunch. Every book with them has been an adventure. A group of poor off the street and out of the work house orphans were adopted by a wealthy Baron and their lives were turned around. They are now a close family with many different talents working together to right the wrongs of society. Tommy is a master of disguise and can successfully transform herself into an old woman or a handsome young Baron, as his Father’s son. As such, she is able to spend time with the lovely Philippa, whom she has admired from afar for over a year. The relationship is handled beautifully in the storyline, with the importance of belonging and being valued for who you are being strongly emphasized.

Annalee and Wayland HEA was one that had so many emotions. Finding love after trauma is one that was hard fought battle for Annalee. I loved all her emotions and her strength. I feel that this love story was rich in all different facets of life. I truly enjoyed this HEA.

I wasn't sure if I would connect with Annalee, however she is my tye of girl. Even though she went through alot a Peterloo I hwas happy to see she still lived her life on her terms. Wayland on the other hand really made me mad, as he was undermining her at first.
I think the story changed for me in the middle of the book. I felt the whole story shift in a new diresction which made me happy.

My feelings are at first i was having a hard time reading it. At one point I put the book down and went back to it. I would suggest it to others.

It seems Annalee Spencer has always loved Wayland Smith they grew up together and became uninhibited young lovers then Peterloo hit and tore them apart. He returns a hero and oh so proper, but he sees his longtime friend and love Annalee and he’s quite surprised. She’s become this independent young woman who gambles, smokes, drinks booze and has become a wanton, she lives for her pleasure and no one else’s. She joins the Mismatched Society. She’s shunned by society, but Wayland admires her strength, her wit and beauty. She needs Wayland to fool society, but they recapture what they once had, are they both willing to take the risk? A captivating ready with a strong intendent woman who’s know love and loss, they both suffer from PTSD after their experiences at Peterloo. Will find love heals all wounds? I have voluntarily read and reviewed the great book that has a story so intricately woven you can’t help but love them.

Lady Annalee and Lord Wayland Smith grew up together as friends, until they were old enough to be lovers. Wayland's father was a blacksmith, Annalee's is an Earl. The events of Peterloo will change them. Meeting again seven years later. Wayland does not recognize the woman Annalee has become. She does not recognize the man who was rewarded a title
and leads an exemplary life. Always in the center of scandalous behavior, Polite Society does not approve of Annalee. When Wayland continues to protect Annalee, his reputation becomes fodder for gossip. He still loves her, but tries to forget their past. When circumstances become dire, Wayland realizes he must follow his heart. An emotional rollercoaster, I cried through most of the book. This could have come off as a totally depressing, but there are laughable moments.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Lady Annalee Spencer was once the respectable daughter of an earl, but now she is living her life as she pleases, drinking, gambling and taking lovers, because… Because life is short and she had the proof when she was caught up in the Peterloo massacre years before. That terrible event changed her life forever and left her psychologically scarred. But hers is not the only life that was changed by that fateful day… Wayland was a blacksmith’s son, carefree and in love with Annalee. Now he has been rewarded with a title for his heroic act at Peterloo, but he has lost everything he held dear: the freedom to live life as he pleases and most of all, the love of his life, Annalee. But now, in order to save the Mismatch Society, Annalee must put up a façade of respectability and her only chance is to enlist Wayland’s help…
This beautiful novel by Christi Caldwell is a second-chance romance which gives us the pleasure of seeing two lovers reunited after many years of suffering. As always, Christi is a master at creating lifelike, credible characters and she created the perfect one in Annalee. The poor girl suffers from what nowadays we’d call a serious case of PTSD and she’s trying to cope with it as best as she can. I didn’t like Wayland at the beginning, because I thought he could have been more present for her, but I pitied him at the end, because he’s clearly even more unhappy than she is with the life of forced respectability and family obligations that he chose to live. I enjoyed seeing them having their HEA despite their awful families (with the exception of the delightful sisters!). Full five stars!

We have two very different ways of handling the horrors of the Peterloo Massacre. In this story, the woman bears the most horrific terrors which is a reversal from what we mostly read about. Wayland and Annalee are so in love with each other but they don’t know how to contain that love so that they can work together to build their lives together. I love Christi’s dark stories even though they are disheartening sometimes but what better outcome can you have that unending love. I thought I would get through this story without crying but damn it Christi you got me in the end.

Every time I pick up a Christi Caldwell book, I know that I am going to get an emotional story full of broken characters, who have to overcome obstacles and have to work hard for their happiness. Annalee Spencer's story will have your heart breaking for her. She and Wayland Smith were childhood friends who became lovers. A Wanton for All Seasons gives readers a story of how one event, the Peterloo Massacre, can change two people in different ways. While we see Wayland, who is given the title Baron Darlington for his heroics, completely change himself to become a typical member of the ton, Annalee's PTSD leads her to a life lived only for pleasure and gambling to try and forget Peterloo. While in earlier books Annalee appears to be a carefree woman who rebels against society, Caldwell masterfully tells the story of a woman who loves deeply and desperately wants to forget her traumatic experience. Caldwell weaves a tale of two lovers on very different paths that intersect to bring about love, healing and forgiveness. A Wanton for All Seasons is a book that will stay with you long after reading. This is definitely a book that you don't want to miss.

Christi Caldwell is an absolutely delightful writer. She creates characters that are complex and multi layered. Annalee is living a life that goes against the standards society has set for women of good breeding. She is being scandalous as a way to take control of her life. Wayland is living stoic and proper life in his newly elevated status as Baron. He is also hiding emotional scars. The story has so many wonderful characters especially Kitty and Harlow. The plot and arc is beautifully done as the two main characters struggle through their problems and come out better on the other side. Two people who get the opportunity to recapture a love they thought they had lost is the best of stories.

Is she too broken to accept love in her life once more …

I have to say Annalee was not a character I liked in the two previous books, but it is mostly me the problem, having growing up with an alcoholic father, I have little indulgence for drinkers.
So I began this book with a prejudice against her.
And while she will never be my favorite character, she is a moving one, a flawed one who deserved better cards than what society and life dealt her.
Wayland and Annalee’s existences have been altered forever in the aftermath of the Peterloo events.
Both cooped with their trauma their own way. Each choosing a different path, quite opposite from the other.
Him by being proper and she by engaging in any wicked and scandalous behavior, both to keep at bay their demons.
Annalee is suffering from PTSD, and unable to face her nightmares, she buried her pain in indulging in any forbidden pastime until her reputation is shredded to ashes.
Losing herself in meaning pursuits, certain she was pursuing pleasures and freeing herself when she was trapping herself even more in a prison of her own making. By following her new journey to remind herself she was alive, she instead dug herself even more in her path of destruction, alienating everyone from her past life, dirtying herself in the eyes of everyone, and for nothing as no excess was able to heal her wounds, she just enclosed them into her and let them fester.

Wayland knows his own fault in Annalee’s behavior, he was there on this fated day, but instead of saving her, he rescued someone else. And when Annalee refused to see him after the events, he did not try to reach her. He abandoned her like everyone else. So in many way, he failed her like all the other, responsable of driving her away by not trying to stand by her, choosing the easy path instead of staying by her side.
Like everyone, it was easier to ignore her than confronting her, reaching out and risking rejection.

In all, a dark tale of resilience and acceptance as healing is a lonely process and how some trauma can damage more than physically someone.

T A Wanton For All
Seasons
Christi Caldwell has written another
beautiful powerful book . A modern day
mental issue that is addressed with great
care. The love of two young people
stressed and strained through the years
shows to hold fast in the end. I do get
involved with characters in books . To feel
the love, sadness and pain, but yet there
is that lovely happily ever after that is so
satisfying in a good book . Well done
Christi

A wanton for all Seasons
Wanting of Waverton #3
Christi Caldwell
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Annalee Spencer and Wayland Smith were very much in love until the Peterloo Massacre broke them apart and set them on two totally different paths.
Wayland is raised to the title of Baron of Darlington because of his courage.
As for poor Annalee, the trauma of that day in Manchester never seems to leave her. So what does she do she lives only for pleasure. She co-leads the Mismatch Society, a league of scandalous independent women and maybe a little too scandalous because of Annalee.

Annalee proposes to Wayland and he accepts it, if only to atone for what happened to Annalee in the first place. Now reunited under the presence of courtship Wayland and Annalee find that their feelings are quickly becoming real. Now it's time to confront the past and face the future and let themselves love again.

Christi Caldwell is absolutely brilliant. There is never a dull moment in her books and I found that I really liked Annalee alot. This is one book you won't want to miss. Ms. Caldwell you wrote a smashing book

Starring Lady Annalee Spencer and Wayland Smith, Baron Darlington.

Tropes: Rising above station, childhood friends, past lovers, and second chances.

I am a blubbering, ugly cry mess. This book hurt my heart then healed it… I am so in love with Annalee and Wayland!!

Annalee and Wayland have been put through the wringer with what they experienced during the Peterloo Massacre (which I googled like cray)… both let the experienced mold them into the people they are today… which are extreme versions from their past selves. 9 years apart trying to ignore each other… just made me so sad for them.

But love heals all and I totally cheered for these two lovebirds. This book was the perfect angst for me and I enjoyed reading Annalee and Wayland’s journey to HEA.

PS… I hope that Harlowe and Kitty each get their HEA. I thought they were a wonderful part of this story.

Thank you Christi Caldwell for another wonderful read. Heartfelt romances like these is the reason you are on my keeper shelf. Another beautiful masterpiece.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

Annalee is a survivor of the Peterboro massacre, but the terrors of that day have not left her. She has buried the horrors behind a mask of wantonness. Wayland is a survivor of the Peterboro massacre, but he has buried the fears of that day behind a cool, staid facade. In love as young people, it has been years since the massacre separated them. I never want to write a spoiler review, so I will not tell you what happens to our scared hero and heroine. What I will say is that Christi Caldwell has captured every emotion a survivor can feel. I found myself crying for both our H & H. For Annalee as she feels so very alone and for Wayland as he feels compelled to sacrifice himself to prove to the ton that his family deserves their attention. This story will tear at your heart, and have you craving a HEA for these two wonderful people.

Once again, Christi Caldwell gives us imperfect souls to love. Childhood playmates who fell in love but a horrible event separates them. Each takes a different path as a way of coping. Wayland rises from blacksmith’s son to Baron after rescuing the duke’s daughter and wife during the Peterborough massacre. Annalee, however, takes a different route of drinking, smoking, and affairs to drown out the quiet. When they meet up again after nine years, Annalee is a scandal waiting to happen. And scandal does with Wayland! How these two find their way back to one another is a heartwarming story as only Christi can do! Highly recommend!

Absolutely friggin loved it!! All of the books in this series have been wonderful and previous books have hinted at the horrific experience Annalee has been through. So to finally read Annalee HEA was exciting. Although strong and feisty I’ve always sensed a sadness in Annalee and this book beautifully explores the raw, heartbreaking experience of PTSD but from two different expressions of the experience. Add in the lack of understanding in the period and Annalee being a woman had the potential to end badly, but the mantra “it’s a HEA” kept me optimistic. It resonates as a truthful portrayal of trauma, but the love story and the support of the wonderful mismatch society make it a thoroughly enjoyable read! As always Christi fully enthrals the reader and writes perfect imperfect characters who you can’t help but love. Can’t wait until the next instalment!
