Thankyou netgalley for the opportunity to have an arc copy of this book for a honest review.
. The story was very fast paced . It doesn’t have the thriller factor which is very light and not to extreme .
It does actually predicted the ending but it was worth to read ❤️

This book focuses on dementia and I haven’t read this in a thriller before. I loved the short chapters making this fast paced. The writing was full of suspense. A good thriller
This was the best book! This book was the first one I have read by this author. I have already looked for other books by her! It was on-the-edge of your seat and the twists were on point! I read this in one sitting. I would definitely recommend this book!
The characters were well-developed, and I found myself invested in their lives. The plot was well thought out and had enough twists and turns to keep me on the edge of my seat. I appreciated the attention to detail, and the author did a great job of creating a vivid world that was easy to picture in my mind.
The themes explored in the book were thought-provoking and gave me a lot to consider. The story had a great message and was inspiring, leaving me feeling uplifted and motivated. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story with well-developed characters and a powerful message.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this book and would definitely read it again. It was a great addition to my reading collection, and I can't wait to see what else this author has in store.
I was very impressed with this book in terms of writing style, and how there were plenty of twists and turns. There were a few that were a little predictable, but in writing a psychological thriller like this, I must acknowledge it must be hard to keep everything a guessing game! Overall though, I would certainly reach for this author again.
This book was a quick, super engaging psychological suspense that made me not want to stop turning pages until I reached the conclusion. The blurb grabbed me, but the woven suspense and high consequences while reading kept me locked into the story. I would pick up the next thing this reader wrote without hesitation. Maybe a backlist binge is in order?
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. A great thriller/mystery. Recommend
so many twists and turns and I was genuinely lost as to how was behind everything until the reveal. Great suspense and so gripping.
The story was okay. I just didn't like the characters. Who lets people just move in because they asked. Could she be more of a doormat? She lets people walk over her.
Great read - lots of twists and turns, kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end! Would definitely recommend.
I really felt for the main character Kate in this story. Her family suffers a tragedy that nobody should have to endure and then she has her own personal tragedy on top of that. Shortly after that her mother falls ill with early onset dementia. Now she's her mother's primary care with the help of a part time caretaker.
Shortly after the regular caretaker flakes, Kate must trust her mother's care to another. A woman who is seemingly perfect on the outside, but holds a dangerous secret behind those kind eyes. A secret that Kate would never in a million years guess or even fathom.
With this new found sense of comfort at her mother being cared for Kate is finally ready to try and incorporate normal activities into her life. Activities that she's convinced herself that she doesn't need in order to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Kate soon realizes that she should have kept her guard up. Should have been more careful about who she let into her life and her house. Now when things start going wrong and her mother starts getting her, Kate's not sure who she can trust.
A thrilling and thought inducing book. Keep Me Close had me racing to find out who and why.
A story about a dementia is never going to be an easy subject. I didnt like Kate's character and guessed who the guilty party was BUT it was still a good enough story that I wanted to continue to read it to see how it played out. Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC
This is a chilling, psychological thriller. Kate works as a publisher but has moved back into the family home to care for her mother Celeste who is suffering from dementia. A few years ago Kate’s boyfriend committed suicide and previous to that her father and brother were killed in an accident, so she is quite fragile. To help her cope with he mother and her job Kate employs a carer, Georgios. When he doesn’t turn up she manages to find a carer with excellent references who can start straight away and who eventually moves in with them. Kate meets up with an old boyfriend and starts a relation with him and he moves in as well. One day she notices bruises on her mother’s arm. At the same time Kate starts receiving poison pen letters blaming her for her boyfriend’s death. Someone is watching her, who can she trust and who is harming her mother? This book has everything lies, suspense, drama and lots of red herrings. A compelling and recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lume Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Good book. Just hit to close to home and really made me think how fragile our elderly loved ones can be. The story plot was strong and kept me constantly guessing. This was a book that really had you think about life and kept you guessing until the very end.
An intricately woven psychological thriller. It kept me hooked from start to finish. Though the reader could figure out things well in advance, it truly does not take away anything from the reading experience.
This book is full of twists and turns
A great psychological thriller
Also a daughter dealing with a mother with dementia
A brilliantly written book
Thanks NetGalley
Thank you Netgalley and Lume Books for the arc!
Unfortunately this book was not for me.
The main reason was that it felt very predictable. There were very few things in this book that actually surprised me.
Lots of twists and turns in the book, while some sad sentiments in the book as a dementia patient is harmed. Kate lives and cares for her mother whilst trying to hold down a job with a publishing firm.
Kate has her own sadness that she is coming to terms with, when she starts receiving notes about her past. Kate has also just started a relationship with a new man, Logan and needs a new carer for her mum.
The book twists and turns and has you thinking who could be responsible.
Enjoyed this book, but some points in the book relate to current topics - care of the elderly and sexual harassment in the workplace.
This was so good. I love to read stories like this!
There are so many whys with this story. Come on Kate!
I knew who it was the whole time. I just didn’t have the right reason why. Although, I wasn’t far off.
To have someone you love and are caring for being mistreated is horrific. It is always the loved one everyone suspects.
I gave this one 4 stars because of the predictability but I can enjoy a book when I know who the killer/suspect is. I like the other details. The hows and whys of the stories. It is definitely worth a read.
The book was great, interesting characters, fast changing and twisting plot- exactly what I love! I would recommend this book to my friends and family!
