Wow I absolutely loved this and couldn’t put it down. Read it within a few days. Loved following the story of Zoe and Finn and waiting to find out what had happened that night back at home. Set in a beautiful location with just an equally beautiful story including mermaids
I have absolutely loved this series of books, which follow the lives of 4 childhood friends, and their lives as they are now. Each book focuses on one of the friends, and this is the third book in the series.
As a full time wheelchair user myself, Zoe's story was the one that I was most looking forward too, as I wanted to see how the character was portrayed, as I have never read a romance book where the main character was disabled.
I liked the fact that Zoe was a strong, and independent woman and that she was very successful at what she did, yet the story also showed that she also had some vulnerabilities too.
I felt this book didn't flow quite as easily as the other 2, but I didn't enjoy it any less - it was just a bit more of a complex read as it delved into Zoe's past a lot before and during her accident.
Fantastic read, which is part of a great series and would definitely recommend.
This is the third book in a four book series, following a group of friends as they live their adult lives, but still very much as childhood best friends.
I loved the first two books in the series but must admit that this one didn’t grab me quite as much as them. Once I was about half way through I did feel more engaged with the story.
This story follows Zoe, left living life in a wheelchair following the accident all the friends were involved in. She’s living life to the full, travelling and working hard, but is there something missing from her life, may she even be a little homesick?
I really did enjoy this book but felt maybe the start was a little draw out but loved how it progresses and ended.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and most importantly the author, for the chance to read this book, in exchange for an honest review.
This is part of a set where 4 friends who were involved in a serious car accident as teenagers are followed in later life.
This book is number 3 and tells us what happened to the most seriously injured of the 4. She ended paralysed from the waist down unable to walk, but working as a travel journalist reviewing hotels etc for the disabled traveller.
In this storycshe is at a new resort in Tahiti which turns out to be owned by an old acquaintance.
Sympathetically written, explorin how various challenges for someone in a wheelchair can be addressed. But missed the 4 wheeldrive, all terrain, self driven wheelchair by assuming that it would need to be hand pushed on sand. You can get one that doesn't.
Overall, a nice story without cloying sentimentality.
This was a really good read. Easy story to follow, charming setting and great characters. Really enjoyed it.
This was a super light hearted, easy read and definitely one for the travel lovers. The tropical descriptions weaved throughout the chapters made me wish I was there with the characters.
First and foremost, I love the fact that Toff didn’t shy away from disability in this book; Zoe is left in a wheelchair after an accident in her teens. Her character is independent, strong and confident, ensuring others look and treat her no different. I thought this aspect was written extremely well and a lot of thought went into the sensitivity of the topic.
The dual POV served to allow us an insight into both Zoe and Finn’s minds, and how they were both unsure of the others feelings. It was refreshing seeing Finn step back whenever he wanted to help Zoe with her wheelchair - he respects her and realises that she doesn’t need looking after.
Despite all of this, the writing just didn’t work for me and I found it quite difficult in the beginning to get into. After the 45% mark, I started enjoying it a lot more and was really rooting for the pair of them - their tropical bubble was utterly perfect, and I better have a travel summer romance this magical one day!
I haven't read the rest of the books in this series, but I found this a warm, gentle read, it is predictable, but also it was really gorgeous in its' descriptions of Tahiti, which is a place I have always wanted to visit.
The fact that Zoe has a disability, and her strength and determination in making sure others look passed it is very enlightening, overall a lovely summer read.
Zoe has spent her life facing battles: fighting her parents for independence, struggling with her feelings for local bad boy Finn and, after a car accident at eighteen, adjusting to the fact she would not walk again. She remained strong until the day Finn, the person she thought she could trust, broke her heart… Now a successful travel writer, Zoe is excited to review a new luxury hotel in the beautiful South Pacific – until she meets its owner. Finn was never good enough for Zoe. He knew it. Zoe’s family knew it. The village of Hawkes Cove made sure he knew it. Proven when he let her down in the worst way possible. Now a successful businessman, he thought his past was behind him, until a journalist turns up to review his new resort. As Finn shows Zoe the exotic wonders of the islands both face the fact their shared past might just be the beginning of a future. But only if Zoe can win the biggest battle of her life…facing up to her heart’s desire.
This is the next installment in Toffolo's quartet, focusing around four friends. This offering focuses on Zoe and I think it is the one I have enjoyed the most. This read a lot better than the last book and flowed more which helped, the setting of Tahiti was beautiful and Zoe has an emotional story to tell and one the reader can get involved in.
At the end of the day, you know roughly what you are going to get and they do have a certain formula to follow. However, I liked getting to know Zoe more and discovering her past and who does not like to get swept up in a love story every now and then.
'Meet Me In Tahiti' is a very enjoyable read and was a lot easier to read than the other installments. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Mills & Boon for an advance
I love this series and this third instalment didn’t disappoint. We got another sweet romantic tale with two great leads. I really loved Zoe, who is in a wheelchair after an accident, and I thought her character representation was realistic and very well done. I’m not in a wheelchair, but I am chronically ill and I identified with some of Zoe’s emotions and attitudes around being disabled. I look forward to the next one in this series which I assume will focus on the fourth friend in the friendship group. The only disappointment was I noticed in the acknowledgments that Toff had a writing partner - I hope that doesn’t mean someone else has been writing these books and Toff just stuck her name on them.
This is a very positive continuation of Georgia Toffolo’s series, this time featuring independent Zoe who hates being smothered by her parents who have worried about her health since birth and since a car accident when she was eighteen which has left her feeling she has to constantly reassure them. She originates from a village where everyone looked out for her which made her untouchable for perceived local bad boy Finn with whom she struck up a friendship when they worked together when she was sixteen, this left a lot of unfinished business between them which over a decade later when they unexpectedly come face to face leaving both of them reeling.
This is a warm hearted book which covered Zoe’s day to day experiences well and also highlighted the stupidity and prejudice she suffers. It was great to have both Zoe and Finn’s viewpoints although at times I felt things between them were a bit clouded but overall you could understand how both were hesitant to make a move. I’ll definitely be looking out for the final book in the series. 7/10
I’ve been eagerly awaiting Meet Me in Tahiti, the third instalment of Georgia Toffolo’s Meet Me series, and it didn’t disappoint.
This series explores the lives of four friends – Victoria, Malie, Zoe and Lily who all grew up in Hawkes Cove and were involved in a horrific car accident when they were teenagers. Their individual stories are told across four books, and book three is Zoe’s story.
In London, Victoria Scott was dreaming of her future life and owning her own boutique, in Hawaii, Malie Pukui had put her life on hold, instead focusing on her job at a surf school. Described by the author herself as a “complex and unconventional heroine”, Zoe has spent her life facing battles – for her independence, love life, and the adjustment she had to make following the car accident which left her unable to walk again and when we meet her, she’s in Tahiti at a new luxury hotel, which as a successful travel writer, she is excited to review. Little does she know; its owner is her childhood friend Finn. Over the course of the week, Finn proceeds to show Zoe the best of the resort and struggles to contain his feelings for her. He has carried a torch for her since their teenage years but has always felt he was not good enough for her.
I liked what Zoe and Finn’s story has to say about love and friendship. Their relationship is very intense, sizzling right from the get-go. Described as “a sprinkle of fairy dust amidst the mundane drudgery that was his life” she is the Ying to his Yang, and he hers. The firm placement of the central characters on equal footing really makes this feel a contemporary romance. They are both successful, they both have some personal insecurities to overcome and they really need to meet each other in the middle to face up to their feelings for one another.
Zoe is fiercely determined not to have anyone pity or patronise because she is in a wheelchair and I felt this was handled brilliantly across the book, between her emails with her parents, her interaction with some of the supporting characters and the dialogue Finn exploring the need for independence and trust rather than sympathy.
I also really like that as this is the third book in the series you can see the interlinkages between each story, and also get a wider understanding of the strength of the bond between each of the four women, and the different romances that are explored. Victoria and Oliver literally crashed into each other’s lives, Malie comes to Todd’s rescue and Zoe and Finn’s story is a mix of childhood sweethearts and unrequited love.
This is a book about taking a chance on love, being brave enough to bare your soul and go after what you want and facing up to the past. Zoe and Finn know each other, can read each other but both must work to really say how they feel about one another.
This is definitely a feel-good series, with a lot of heart, I didn’t want to put it down. Georgia Toffolo has a way of describing each country in such a beautiful way that has you wanting to travel the more you read! I can’t wait for Lily’s story next!
We rejoin Victoria, Malie, Zoe and Lily. This time we learn Zoe's story about how she came to be in her wheelchair and how she has adapted to the struggles she faces and over come them.
This was a brilliant book written so sensitively with an understanding of how a disabled person can feel and lessons to be learnt about how to help without making them feel as if they are a burden. It explores the dynamic between independence and learning to accept help. This is a brilliant book about Love and Friendship. 2 topics that Georgia Toffolo seems to write about brilliantly!
I cant wait for Lily's story.
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review an early copy of this brilliant book!
This is the perfect light read for your summer holiday whether it’s a staycation or somewhere a bit more exotic.
I really enjoyed the electric sexual chemistry between Zoe and Finn.
Having a disabled woman as the protagonist is such a welcome change. She’s not full of pity or rage for her disability she’s fierce she’s sassy she’s independent fiercely so and such a character.
The setting is a total paradise so perfect for some escapism when so many of us can’t travel to beautiful faraway destinations.
I really enjoyed learning how Zoe looks after herself and enjoys life to the full not allowing the accident or the fact that she’s paralysed stop her fulfilling her dream of travelling and writing.
But something is missing for Zoe - she left her home town but left a piece of herself there - can she find her way back and the missing piece of her puzzle?
Really enjoyed this sweet romance.
I loved the first two in this series so jumped at the chance to read this one. This story featured Zoe and Finn. I thought the last romance was hot but this positively sizzled. What was really great was the strong sexy depiction of a disabled woman who didn’t need saving or looking after. Hoping there’ll be a fourth with Lily’s story now.
Another wonderful story from Georgia! This time we're with Zoe and what a book! The ups and down. A truly beautifully written story.
A thoroughly enjoyable romance novel. The story of Zoe, who runs into her teenage love Finn whilst reviewing a holiday resort in Tahiti. I loved all the descriptions of the Pacific Islands, and could picture it perfectly. Only downside was I sometimes got frustrated with how the two main characters were with each other and just wanted them to get on with it!! An enjoyable story and I would recommend.
This is the third book in Georgia Toffolo's "Meet Me In..." series that follows 4 friends, Victoria, Lily, Malie and Zoe. This instalment is Zoe's story.
Having really enjoyed the first 2 books, I was very keen to read this one, and it didn't disappoint. Zoe loved Finn as a teenager but circumstances were such that they could not be together. A chance meeting in Tahiti brings them back together, can they overcome their memories and finally be as they want?
I love how each book in the series stands alone but weaves threads of the previous stories in, how we can clearly see the strength of the girls' friendship. I now cannot wait for the fourth instalment!
A very enjoyable read, which I really appreciated being from a wheelchair users POV. The story was fantastically romantic and didn't belittle the main character for her needs, instead we had a strong, confident woman who didn't allow her disabilities to contain her. Our leading man was gentle yet passionate, and it was great to see the dual points of view on the situations. Overall a good read
