I loved this books so much! It was one of those books where I start reading and I don’t want to put it down!

I loved Sarah and Declan’s story because their relationship felt very natural from the start and you could really feel the all the tension and chemistry between them throughout the whole story. Sarah and Declan were both well written characters that had interesting backstories that caused some conflict and I loved seeing them work through their issues.
I will say that I seem to have read a lot of books recently where one of the main issues is that one of the characters has had their heart broken and is too afraid to start a relationship, so tries to deny it over and over again and while this was done well in this book it got to point where it was annoying me slightly that she kept going round and round in circles and I just wanted to shout at her!

But overall I absolutely loved this book, more than I though I would to be honest, and if you like a fun, lighthearted book this is definitely for you!

Now excuse me while I go find my own gorgeous Irishman!

One Night Only is an adorable rom-com! I loved this book. It left me with feel good, happy vibes! The one night stand to lovers storyline was fun and fresh. I enjoyed the Ireland setting and the fun Irish family! I had a hard time putting this one down. My mind was blown when I found out this was Catherine Walsh’s debut book. Its so good! I can’t wait to read more from her in the future.

Thank you to Net Galley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book in return for my honest review.

Liked this one I didn’t love it. I didn’t connect with the characters or find them as quaint as I expected to find them. It was okay overall.

This books starts with the characters having a one night stand and then later seeing each other at wedding. Typically books would have them instantly fall in love at the wedding, however that's not what happened, they later reconnected and then started to develop feelings for each other. The main characters had strong chemistry but had their own obstacles to overcome before being able to come together. This book has a realistic love story for two realistic characters.

However, this book only receives one star because there is a joke about one of the characters losing their virginity at 17 to a 20 year old. As another reviewer stated, it was uncomfortable for me as a reader and was an unnecessary and inappropriate addition to the book.

Thank you so much to the publishing team and to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this delightful romance by Catherine Walsh.

RATING: 3.5 STARS

'One Last Night' is a story of a young woman making it in New York, working for a company where her boss is exceptionally hard on her and there is a all-too-perfect guy that seems to be taking her job. Sarah Anderson is a likeable protagonist right from the start, which is so refreshing for me as someone who kind of hits or misses with contemporary romance novels.

The story starts off pretty soon with Sarah travelling to Ireland to go to her best friend from colleges wedding, where she is the maid of honour. And of course who is the husband-to-be's best man and brother? Declan, the man she had a one-night-stand with and kicked out of her bed after he asked her to get some breakfast with him.

Sarah is very outspoken about the fact she is a woman who likes to have sex and isn't really that into serious relationships, again refreshing to read about and see her, not develop in a way that felt like she had to be ashamed of it, but more so with her accepting that she very much can still love sex and still fall for a really hot Irish man at the same time after accepting she had some scares throughout her life that put her off the idea of getting serious and settling down.

Declan Murphy, a brilliant love interest. He was funny, he was charming, he was sexy, and he looks great in a tux. I always say that male characters, especially love interests, are so much better when they're written by women, and Catherine definitely proved that again.

I loved the development of the relationship between Sarah and Declan the most, and believed it was a stand out point of this book and the reason I managed to read the entire arc in less than 24 hours. I was so hooked in on them. Their banter was amazing, the chemistry was flowing, the longing, the "I dont want to be with you but yes I do I cannot stop thinking about you". Amazing. No other words needed.

All of the secondary characters were also great. Sarah had a really great, funny and supportive bunch of friends. Will, her colleague was hilarious. Everyone needs a Will in their life.

Overall I really enjoyed this novel. The pacing was good, the writing was good, I liked the fact that the author managed to make this couple sexy and actually write a whole book based on the topic of one-night-stands but didn't actually go into details when it came to the very few sex scenes that were written in. All of the characters were great and likeable people, the drama and fights between Sarah and Declan were definitely parts that nearly got me in tears because miscommunication is a nasty nasty thing.

I'll definitely be recommending this book to friends.

I love, love, loved this book! It’s not easy to come up with a romantic book that is a bit different but Catherine Walsh has done it! I love the characters, all human, flawed, realistic! Sarah lives in New York, She has been hurt in the past and is a modern strong woman who now chooses to not have relationships but she still has needs - so hooks up with guys when she feels like it but never for more than one night!
This is how she meets Declan Murphy and chucks him out of her bed after a one-night stand, only to find that he is the best man at a wedding in Ireland where she is the chief bridesmaid! Awkward!

I totally fell in love with Declan Murphy, Celtic looks, good body, funny and with an Irish lilt! Is he enough to change Sarah’s one night rule? Read it and find out!

This book made me smile, laugh out loud, shed a tear and just keep page-turning!

I’d give it more than five stars if I could! And I cannot wait for Catherine Walsh’s next book!

My thanks go to the author, the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced e-reader copy in return for an honest review!

Romance

There is much to like about this novel. The progression of the character's relationship develops over time and occurs very authentically. The biggest problem for me occurred in the development of the characters themselves. There is very little description of Sarah and Declan and it made it a little hard to connect..

Sarah and Declan have a one night stand. Declan asks to see Sarah again, but she kicks him out of her apartment as she doesn't do relationships. A few weeks later, she runs into him again at her best friend's wedding in Ireland. Turns out he is the groom's brother. Fate conspires to bring them together, but Sarah's insecurities and past relationships throw up roadblocks. They work through their troubles and come out the other side.

This was a lovely debut novel and I'm looking forward to seeing what else this author has in store.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my ARC of this novel.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for sending me my very first ARC! This was a quick and enjoyable read! The banter between Declan and Sarah was great and the tension had me not wanting to put the book down. I especially liked the parts when they were in Ireland and actually wish that was a longer part of the book! The synopsis had me believing it would be the main focus but it's only the first part of the story.

I thought the side characters were great (Annie, Claire and Will), but I found myself not connecting as much with the two MCs. Not that there's anything wrong with relatively normal main characters that aren't crazy or quirky, but at the end of the book I just felt like they will not be a super memorable couple compared to some other contemporary romance books I've read. I did enjoy the parts of them back in New York getting to know each other better outside of just their instant attraction to one another, but sometimes I felt like I was getting whiplash from Sarah with her constant going back and forth.

Overall, I liked the twist/conflict at the end, I thought it was really well-done and realistic, considering Sarah's past, and enjoyed how it all wrapped up! I think this is a very promising first book by Catherine Walsh - 3.75/5 stars but rounding up to 4.

Like a lot of gals, I'm a sucker for Irish/Scottish/British men and accents, so I knew this book was for me right away! Sarah is a fairly successful architect in NYC who is not looking for a relationship. Events from her past keep her from giving too much of herself away, so she settles for one night stands. However, her latest one night stand pops up again at her best friend's wedding of all places!

Travelling to Ireland to be the maid-of-honor for her best friend, she comes face to face with the Irish guy she recently kicked out of her apartment in NYC. He's the groom's brother of all people! Sparks continue to fly, and she goes against her one night rule.

Once back in NYC, Sarah keeps running into Declan Murphy and eventually begins to open her heart. This book is definitely swoon worthy reading! There is just the right amount of drama and humor to keep you hooked and wanting more.

What I really appreciate about this novel is that the author did not feel the need to include the "f" word every other sentence or paragraph. When I read books littered with profanity, I find I have to skip over chunks and miss out on some of the plot. I really don't find that kind of talk attractive at all! I was so glad I did not have to do that with One Night Only. Thank you for keeping it profanity clean.

I absolutely loved Sarah and Declan's story! Catherine Walsh is brilliant with the humor, the bickering, and getting how we handle relationships right. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book., thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture The opinions expressed are my own.

I finished One Night Only in a single sitting, and thought the characters felt both real and modern, especially the female lead. Good banter, fun side characters and lots of chemistry make this a very readable and solid contemporary romance debut!

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review. This book caught my attention because of the pretty pink cover. I needed a good chick-lit book and this one fit the bill.

This was a great quick read. Sarah is an architect in New York. She's given up on relationships and has adopted the motto "One Night Only". She decided to take up this motto after her last relationship ended badly.

With this motto in mind imagine how off guard she is when she realizes the guy she was with before heading to Ireland for her best friends wedding is in the same wedding. She finds it hard to stick to her motto once she realizes that although he looks dang good in a tux, he looks even better without one.

This book was a great quick read. I liked how the author brought all of the characters to life. The situations that Sarah finds herself in were funny and great. I thoroughly enjoyed that Sarah wasn't perfect. Those perfect characters are so boring.

Part of this book is set in Ireland, and the main love interest, Declan, is Irish. What else needs to be said?

I enjoyed this book. It has fluff, it has angst, it has a good combination of some of my favorite romance tropes. I felt I really could relate to Sarah who avoids getting to know people and getting into relationships out of a fear of being hurt. Even though she grows closer to Declan she is terrified, she questions everything, and you really feel for her over the course of the book. Declan is a fun, humorous, and easy-going yet hard-working character and his patience with Sarah is very sweet. This was a fun, quick read.

This book was a roller coaster for me .I quickly requested for it as soon as I saw the cover.

P.S. I want to ask all the authors why does every rom com start with one of the leads getting breakup and then he/she meets a newbie by accident.

I was bit disappointed by the end .

Whole review to come soon

This was an enjoyable read , light and didn't take itself too seriously .
When Sarah has a very enjoyable one night stand she never expects to see him again , and certainly not at the wedding of her best friend . This causes complications that she wants to avoid as Sarah is adamant that she is not looking for anything more . Entertaining and left me with a rosy glow

One Night Only takes place between New York and Ireland, and follows architect Sarah Anderson as she makes her way to Europe for her best friend Annie's wedding.

However, upon her arrival into Ireland, the last thing Sarah expects is to come face to face with her latest one night stand.

After being hurt in the past, Sarah has a rule. She doesn't date. She doesn't even sleep with someone more than once. It's the only way she can protect herself and her heart.

So why is she suddenly questioning everything after Declan's impromptu arrival?

One Night Only was an incredibly easy read that was gripping and funny right from the opening line and i found myself continuously hoping that the book would never end.

I adored the characters within this book and found their relationships to one another interesting.

The humorous tone Walsh sets throughout One Night Only sets the book apart from other contemporary reads, with continuous banter between the characters making the book stand out as light, fun, and enjoyable throughout.

It was also exciting to see Sarah's continuing character development as she began to realise her own self worth and accept that she, like everyone, deserves happiness. Seeing her open up and become vulnerable as she embraces her feelings is also interesting to see.

In places, the book is somewhat slow paced, however this does little to take away from its overall value and was still able to maintain my interest throughout!

There is so much to love about this book, and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something lighthearted and fun to pick up.
