okey, first of all, wow. i really didn’t expect to like this as much as i did.
after a some stressful weeks, i have had trouble finding books that give me that buzz, but this one absolutely did it for me.
this book follows sarah, who had a one night stand with an irish man, she kicks him out of her apartment the morning after expecting to never see him again, to then find out he is the brother of her best friend's future husband, and they meet again a few days before their wedding.
declan & sarah are so cute & funny, and i absolutely loved them together.
i also think it’s important for me to say that this book kept me up until 4 am, and, as unoriginal as it is, i really wasn’t able to put it down.
overall, i think this is a great rom-com. i had a lot of fun reading it and i’ll be sure checking thus author's new releases.

Sarah is excited to go to her best friends wedding in Ireland, until she discovers the Best Man was also a one night stand.
I always love the opportunity to check out debut novels and this one was pretty great. Sarah carries some deep emotional issues with her, as does Declan. Walsh did a great job writing chemistry between the two, you could definitely feel the tension between them. I enjoyed reading their back and forth and always love when the love interest seems to be an all around good guy. I just wish that Sarah wasn't constantly back and forth about whether she wanted a relationship and if Declan was the one for her.
I loved both settings, rural Ireland and New York City. Both were well painted and I felt myself immersed in them. I also really enjoyed Sarah's friends and the many side characters encountered in this book. The characters definitely made the book more enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Catharine Walsh's books in the future!
I would definitely recommend this book as a fast paced summer read. I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Well, who doesn’t love the chance to go to a wedding in Ireland? Especially when you get stuck seated beside your one-night stand who you threw out in the morning?
This book was definitely an emotional rollercoaster. I really enjoyed the plot, but I think Sarah was a little insufferable at times. I understand she went through a lot but her back and forth between figuring out what she wanted got to be a little annoying. On the other hand, Declan was such a fun and compelling character, and I loved their chemistry and banter. Speaking of fun, I also loved the supporting characters, in particular Will and Annie!
This was an easy and very fun book read and I look forward to read more of Catherine Walsh in the future.

*special thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
3.5 stars
This was a very cute romance!
I liked how they resolved their conflicts like adults. That’s always refreshing to read! I thought they were cute and had great banter. I was certainly rooting for the two of them.
Sarah wasn’t totally relatable for me, but I did feel sympathetic toward her and her guard towards relationships… but my goodness she needs to get over her problems. She takes her past experiences out on everyone and it was hard to read.
I liked Declan and I liked how he was (eventually) able to talk about his feelings and past openly.
I do wish it was more steamy, but oh well!

Sarah only has one night stands. But her most recent encounter has resurfaced at her best friend's wedding in Ireland - as the groom's brother and best man. Despite the awkwardness between them, they manage to make it through the week, finding themselves together again the night before the wedding. When Declan flies home after the toasts without telling Sarah, she wonders if perhaps she's developing feelings for someone despite her best intentions. Will her past experiences get in the way of an opportunity at a real realtionship?
An interesting romance, though I was a little annoyed at Sarah' at times due to her lack of self-assessment.

Cute! Although I hate this trope (we hooked up and it was the hottest thing ever but we cant be together because ~life~) I did enjoy the banter between the heroine and the love interest

This was not one of the usually cute and overall sunshine-y rom-coms, because it did get more heavy than I'd expected from the blurb.
The story had its ups and downs, and for most parts I really enjoyed it, but the heroine, Sarah, got on my nerves with the pull-and-push thing she had going on with Declan. She never made up her mind and while I could understand it in the beginning, it just got tiring after a while. And I couldn't really get a grip on Declan, sooo... in conclusion, neither of the main characters made me invested in their 'love' story or lifes. Which was a little sad 'cause I found the writing style funny and witty and it still brought the storyline forward.
Overall, an okay read and definitely a debut to be proud of. Catherine Walsh might very well be a name to look after in the future, if she works and improves what she already can.
ARC kindly provided by NetGalley and Bookouture. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I absolutely devoured One Night Only. (For reference, I only got approved for the ARC this morning and have already finished it, even though I had to work today). After Sarah sends Declan to the One-Night-Stand-Zone in New York, she shows up to her best friend's wedding in Ireland only to discover that the groom is Declan's brother.
I loved the dichotomy of rural Ireland and NYC as the settings, as well as the plethora of endearing side characters. Also, I've read plenty of Americans trying to write Irish characters, so it was interesting read American characters written by an Irish author (I was amused to hear an American say "spoilsport" and "physiotherapist" lol).
Catherine Walsh's writing is really witty and fun, which is what propelled me through this book at such a rapid pace. I found Sarah to be really relatable and Declan has every quality to make him the ultimate book boyfriend (accent, looks great in a tux, emotionally vulnerable, etc.). As a character-driven reader, these two captured my heart, despite having more than their fair share of "will they, won't they" moments. I think this is a great romance debut and I'm already eagerly awaiting Catherine Walsh's next release!

From the description, I was expecting fun and light; this really wasn’t it. There was a some push and pull (almost all exclusively from our heroine), and a few lighter moments, but I mostly felt awkward for her. The book was ok and I’d definitely recommend it for readers who like a little bit of a heavier read or romances. But, I probably wouldn’t suggest this for a poolside/beach read.

I loved it! I cannot believe this is Catherine's debut novel, it was so good! If you are going to read this book make sure to carve out some time because you will not want to put it down.
Sarah Anderson is a thirty something single woman living in New York City. She has a very strict "one night only' rule when it comes to men in part due to a previous relationship and her family history. She does not get involved and so far it has been working out just fine. That is until she meets Declan Murphy. Not only is he reluctant to leave the next morning but as it turns out he is the younger brother of her best friends fiancée.
When the two meet again at said best friends gorgeous Irish wedding just days later things take a turn. She tries to play it cool but Declan doesn't get the memo and outs their previous encounter in front of friends and family. Try as she might Sarah just can't seem to get away from Declan. Away from him and his charming, confident and annoyingly handsome self.
The chemistry between Sarah and Declan is undeniable but they both carry a heavy load from the past which complicates matters. Sarah is reluctant to let herself fall and trust in love again after a previous boyfriend broke her heart and Declan's past isn't exactly tied up in a neat little bow.
This book offered lots of back and forth, highs and the lows. Some moments were so laugh out funny and other times I found myself so frustrated with Sarah for her inability to let go of her past and give Declan a chance. I loved that the characters weren't perfect, they had baggage, the relationship build slowly, they made mistakes but in the end kept being drawn to each other. Too often romcoms lean too close to fairytales but this seemed real and slightly messy.
I would definitely recommend this book, it is the perfect summer read.

This was a great read, romance isn't usually my genre but I am so glad I picked this up!. Loved this so much I finished this in 2 sittings and couldn't put it down it had me hooked. I loved the relationship of Sarah and Annie they were so funny. All I could do was visual a very hot guy for Declan!! Hope there is a sequel.

I received an e-arc from Netgalley in exchange of a honest review.
For a debut novel, this author knocked it out of the park. I absolutely loved it! A few reasons why I urge you to pick it up:
- The book played like a movie in my head
- Banter is on point, both between main characters and main/secondary characters
- Both main characters are perfectly well-written - actually, the whole cast is great
- It is a rom-com, but so much feels
- Irish contryside
- Some really hilarious moments
I look forward to the next novel by Catherine Walsh!

I absolutely loved the one night stand to lovers trope that this storyline introduced. The characters in this were so satisfying and left me wanting more!
Two characters with baggage from past relationships engage in a one night stand but theres no stopping what the heart wants.
This book left me reflecting on myself, on relationships in general and Im so grateful to have read it. Sarah had moments that were super relatable and all the supporting characters were so lovable you cant help but smile through this story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! A wonderful debut from Catherine Walsh and I’m already excited to see what she will write next. Sarah is a complex character who’s fighting between the two sides of herself. I adored Declan more than I cared for Sarah. His charming personality, his cheeky quips, and how he’s so mysterious throughout this book. The romance was clever. Personally I appreciated that it wasn’t easy for Sarah nor Declan and how the book was spaced out over a longer period of time. It felt much more relatable and realistic. Catherine’s writing style was simple but conveyed so much. The atmosphere was fabulously done. Overall I adored this book and will be picking up a copy so I can read it again! For lovers of I Heart New York, this is a must read!

One night stand with a sexy Irishman ✔️
Alcohol consumption fueled shenanigans ✔️
Angst and snark of main characters ✔️
A guaranteed HEA ✔️✔️
Sarah, for a variety of reasons, only does one night stands. Imagine her shock when she runs into her latest at a wedding in Ireland who is not only the best man, but is also the grooms brother. And, the groom happens to be her best friends betrothed!
I loved this debut novel by Catherine Walsh and couldn’t put in down once I started it! It’s an easy-to-read Contemporary Romance that balances out the angsty, snarky banter with sweet, romantic moments and the heavy, heart wrenching moments with doses of laughter.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah has strict rules when it comes to meeting men: one night only with a min and a swift boot to the buttocks in the morning. However, when she humps and dumps irishman Declan Murphy, and then meets him again a few days later over 3,000 miles away, and at her best friends wedding, her rules seem to be the ones getting booted out the door.
I enjoyed this book immensely. It stands out due to the light-hearted feel, the fast paced writing, and the witty main character. The chemistry between Sarah and Declan was undeniable, cradling equal amounts of quips and attentiveness.
Sarah as a whole is a compelling character, with.a thought process that describes the fight or flight process when encountering long term romance, without saying the words fight or flight. Her friendships are satisfying for the reader to behold, and the natural, sisterly love between Sarah and her best friend Annie is enviable.
The plot itself was okay. I think looking back, lots of mini storylines seemed to fizzle out, choosing to focus on the main romance instead. However, I'm. a reader who doesn't like unanswered questions, and I feel that I have many when I consider the plot.
Additionally, I'm not sure the reasons behind Sarah's aversion to potential love interests are totally justifiable for the angst she causes herself, But - and I'm sorry to once again mention this - the connection between Sarah and Declan means that I don't really care about the backstory of her pain. That makes me sound a bit tyrant-y, but it's true. Walsh writes romance just as it should be: full of humour, passion, and care.
Thank you to the publisher, Bookouture, and to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My favorite thing about One Night Only was without a doubt getting to see Sarah and Declan fall in love with each other. I really got to see their relationship unfold in a real way, full of chemistry and tension that has made me root for them since the beginning of the story. This is one of those books where you fall in love with the characters and their love while reading them falling in love. The banter between them>>>
The book progressively gets better and better with each page, and that's why I couldn't stop reading it for one second, so I obviously finished it in less than a day.
One Night Only is full of funny dialogues, beautiful landscapes and sunrises, brilliant interactions and endearing characters, including the secondary characters! (Will is my newest best friend)
Thank you Catherine Walsh for the amazing story and characters (you ruined my life because now I need to find myself a Declan!) I promise to wait not so patiently for your next book. Can't wait to fall in love again <3

The story introduces us to Sarah who wakes up with a stranger on her bed. Don't judge her, just yet. There was a lot of tequila involved. Well, she gets rid of him, no! didn't murder him, just kicks him out of her house. But fate has a different plan for her. Else, who could have predicted this? Being at the same wedding, in Ireland, the wedding Sarah was supposed to have her best time. Her best friend Annie is getting married and she is the maid of honor. But it seems like her one-night stand, Declan is the best man, as he is the brother of the groom. And it seems like he is determined to remind Sarah of their night and embarrass her at every turn. Well, at least that's the information from Sarah's pov.
Now that the wedding is over and she is back in the city, she is glad that she won't have to see Declan anymore. But(there is always a but) as I said, fate wants something else.
My thoughts: Did the book felt like a bit dramatic? You bet it did! And I ABSOLUTELY LOVE DRAMA!
The author put a lot of thought into Sarah's character. The way she thinks, the way her mind works, I am sure most of the girls can relate to that. It's hard to gain back confidence if you were hurt or someone broke your trust. Not everyone processes things as Sarah did, but I can relate to her. As I don't want to spoil the story, I don't want to say what it was that she was so afraid of.
Can I appreciate Declan a bit? And how freaking perfect he is! Not in alpha sort of way, but understanding with having a sense of emotions sort of way! And I am in love with his character.
The chemistry between Sarah and Declan was amazing. Instead of rushing, it felt like they were discovering each other. Also, the banter between them! I couldn't stop laughing, the way Sarah reacted every time Declan tried to riled her up.
The only thing that bugged me was not knowing what was going on in Declan's mind. It would have been a perfect fun read for me if there was his Pov too. Other than that, it's a fun read, with a perfect amount of emotions.
#netgalley #onenightonly

It was a lot of fun. Sarah and Declan have the funniest interactions, dialogues and every moment where I thought nothing was going to happen just ended up surprised. The trope of a night surpassed by a perfect enemies to lovers
.
It was a quick read but one that has a very authentic rhythm.
.
But it is not just about Sarah and Declan, it is about the lives of two people trying to break through and make it in the big city, enemys at work, loneliness, friendship, family and above all trust and patience.
.
what I liked the most was how the two main characters were written and their crazy interactions and the times, so well taken that never seems forced or strange
.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for give me this great to read in exchange for my honest review

I'm so annoyed at myself, but I just couldn't get into this one. I blame a potential reading slump. I can't seem to get into anything I pick up at the moment.
I loved the cover, the blurb, the concept, I even loved the first few chapters. But I found myself bored and skimming after that. I couldn't connect with the main character. And that's not saying every reader needs to connect with the main character in the book they're reading, but I actually found myself not liking Sarah very much, which was a detriment to the entire story, because I love getting behind and rooting for my MC!
I've rated One Night Only a 3, because the writing is fantastic, I certainly did 'laugh out loud' more than a few times, and I do believe genuine rom-com readers will love this one. I think I'll need to give this book another chance at a later date, when I come out of my reading slump, so my 3 could very much turn into a 4 or 5.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read One Night Only by Catherine Walsh. I'm sure we will be seeing a whole lot more of this very talented author's words in the future!
