Such a fun read. Definitely the best chick lit I've read this summer. I loved the chemistry with Sarah and Declan. Declan was definitely a swoon worthy leading man who is my current book boyfriend. The book made me laugh and cringe, what all good rom coms should do. I felt that the book did drag on a little bit but I still loved it and I can't wait to read more from Catherine Walsh.

I really, really liked this book. I read a lot of romantic comedies but this one felt fresh and kept me interested the whole time. I read it super fast because I couldn't put it down and may have fallen super hard myself for the main male lead Declan haha. It was funny, quick and a perfect summer love story to read.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the digital ARC of this book. All opinions remain my own as always.

I always appreciate when a romance novel doesn't get too heavy into the steam. I really enjoyed that. This one was simply a book about adults who do adult things but didn't get graphic or too aggressively sexual. This book was funny, a great romcom exactly what you need when you're sitting outside enjoying the summer sun.

Personally I found the character of Sarah to be not quite as fully developed as I might have liked, but I still really enjoyed her and I liked her character growth throughout the book. It's not always as common to see a female character who is open about and truly love sex without being simply filthy about it. Declan was delightful! Funny and just the kind of person that you's want to be friends with. Their banter had me absolutely screaming with laughter for parts of the book. Big fan.

I also think it's worth noting that the Catherine Walsh is another author who writes truly excellent side characters. Annie and Soraya were absolutely highlights of the book for me, and I can't imagine they wouldn't be for others. I loved them and just lived for the moments they were on the pages.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC!

✎ One Night Only tells the story of Sarah and Declan, who have a one night stand. She is an architect who lives in New York. She's an independent woman who doesn't t look for anything serious with men, she just wants to have fun. One night at a bar, she meets this Irish man with whom she has lots of fun. After their one-night stand, she kicks him out of her house.

✎ The book takes place in New York City and Ireland, where her best friend is getting married. What Sarah wasn't expecting was to see her latest hookup - Delcan - whom she kicked out of her house at the wedding, much less would she imagine that he was the brother of her best friend's future husband.

✎ Sarah and Declan had so much chemistry and were genuinely funny, Overall, I think this was an adorable rom-com! I really loved this book. I recommend One Night Only to anyone who loves rom-com and is looking for a fun, easy and enjoyable read.

One Night Only has characters that I'd like to be friends with. People who work hard, are not perfect and are sometimes insecure.

People who think they have a handle on life but, in fact, have a slightly blurred vision of what they want, and how they might achieve it.

Add to the mix an Irishman in New York and you absolutely know you will laugh out loud.

Sarah and Declan seem almost fated to be together and although they initially meet in New York, they soon realise just exactly what fate has in store for them.

The dialogue between the characters is humorous with a dash of frustration mixed in and the situational humour is so beautifully described, you can see the scenes playing out in your head.

One Night Only is an enjoyable page turner that could easily be responsible for fruity drinks being expelled from your nose at the side of a swimming pool or on a warm beach, a perfect holiday read.

This might be the first Catherine Walsh novel that I've read, but it most definitely won't be the last.

Story 3 stars
This was a good enough story. I didn't particularly like Sarah as a person but really liked Declan. Sarah's reason for being detached from relationships wasn't believable to me.

I would try this author again however.

I would like to give a massive thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture!
This also in no way affects my opinions. Also, while this is an adult book and there is mentions of sex and pleasure, it's not described thoroughly.

When I first saw the description of this, I knew it was right up my alley! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I didn't fall in love with it like I thought I would.

We start off with Sarah waking up with her one night stand and promptly kicks him out proficiently. LOL. It was great to read. Then she goes jetting off to her best friends wedding. Then HE shows up! Her one night stand. She was never supposed to see him again, but alas she did and they have to come to some sort of truce during the wedding. She doesn't want to add to her best friend's stress of the wedding week. While she's there though, she sees that their family is on edge and she wants to know why he's the black sheep of the family. He continues to intrigue her and it infuriates her.

All the characters in the book are great. There was so many times where I laughed. I also liked the fact that Sarah or any of her friends really looked down at her for sleeping around and I liked how the author handled it. Like she liked sex and that was okay and it is okay! But so many times people are slut shamed or however it's put. Will is such an annoying friend and it was great. He said it like it was and called everyone out exactly the way he saw it. Claire was great, very honest with Sarah. Annie was so sweet and ugh, when she told Sarah the news, omg, I felt so bad for both of them. Declan, my my, he was something, I love how everything came together in the end. I also love the way Sarah's dad in the end were able to talk to her and help her to see things in a different light.

Unfortunately, something was missing for me. I am not sure what, but I definitely say to give this book a shot you may love it.

I was looking for a funny, rom-com type book and this certainly delivered.

Sarah spends one night only with each of her dates, and after spending a night with a particularly dashing Irish gentleman in NY runs into him at an event she’s attending.

I loved Sarah and Declan’s witty, sarcastic quarrels with each other. As well as being quite funny, the book also dealt with past baggage from relationships and how scary it is to be vulnerable very well.

If you’re looking for a funny, easy read then this is for you!

4.5 rounded up!

aaaa this book was a rollercoaster to read. the trope of past history, especially something like a one night stand has always been so fun to me and i've always loved it, and i think this book executed it perfectly.

it was such a fun, addictive read that i could NOT put down. i had a fever and was tired yet stayed up to read this ( i do not regret that ), so i feel like that tells you all you need to know about this.

i loved sarah so much and her narration was hilarious. besides that, she was a female character who knows she's gorgeous and likes sex and we don't see that enough in female characters. frankly, we need to see that more. anyways, stan sarah, i love her.

i loved declan so much too. he had me screaming at parts. he was hilarious, as well and charming and i loved him. yeah that's all.

that all being said, the side characters were the best part. annie, hi, i love u be my bestie too. soraya was literally the highlight, i lived for her chapters. claire was relatable. mary was so funny. will was amazing too. anyways i loved them all, the characters were all so fun. except matthias, i hated him with a burning passion.

there were certain things about the pacing i didn't love - hence the .5 - but most of it i enjoyed. aaa i just really liked this book.

anyways, overall, read this when it comes out! almost everything was perfect and it had me laughing so hard i couldn't breathe.

I believe this is the author's debut and what a first book this was. I was sucked into it since the start and I binge-read it. The constant banter and tension between Declan and Sarah was so fun to read and their "will they, won't they" dynamic had me on the edge of my seat (well, bed). Overall, the story was noting revolutionary in this genre, it had many cliches, but it was a great read for someone who is on a contemporary romance summer read.

This was a fun read overall.

Sarah doesn't do relationships, she does casual flings and she likes it that way. Then she shows up to her best friend's wedding celebration where she's the maid of honor, and discovers the best man is her one night stand from the night before! Declan challenges Sarah in ways no one has before and she breaks her rule of "one night only" to sleep with him a second time. The chemistry between the two of them was hot from the start, and I enjoyed their witty banter.

This would have been much better as a dual perspective story. Knowing what Declan was thinking and feeling for Sarah would have given their relationship more depth. The story dragged a bit in the middle, there was a bit too much on again off again between the couple.

This is a story about believing you are worthy of love, and finding the right person who proves it to you. It's charming and witty and a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. I recommend this one for romance readers.

Sarah and Declan have a one night stand. Then she leaves for her best friend's wedding in Ireland, and he's there. They continue to run into each other around NYC, spending time together and learning more about each other. There's definitely attraction, but they both have baggage and reasons for being guarded, and they seem to trade off with who is being the pursuer and who is holding back.
I really enjoyed these characters. The story was fun to read and funny in parts, but it was also realistic. There's a bit of family and friendship and work drama. This would be a good vacation book.

I really enjoyed this romance! The story of when Sarah runs into a one night stand in another country at her best friend’s wedding was an unexpected twist with many likable characters. Once I started this book I couldn’t put it down! I just had to know what would happen next!

This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun, held my interest and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.

This was a solid 3.5 so I rounded up to 4 chairs. I liked Sarah and Declan, but I did get a little frustrated with the together, apart, together thing - it happened too often.

At the beginning it was fun to watch the two of them figure each other out, the middle moved a little slow, and the end had a surprise and a good ending. The last few chapters made the story so complete. Hard to believe this was Catherine Walsh's debut novel. I would definitely read what she writes next.

Ahhh this book was so cute. Declan was The perfect hero and a new bookboyfriend of mine. Sarah was an fun girl and i Could relate to all her problems about love. This is exactly what happens when your one night stand shows up as the brother of your best friend's fiancé. What a mess to try and wade through. Sarah and Declan are trying to avoid each other at the wedding but keep getting thrown together. His mom is playing matchmaker, her bestie can't believe this happened, how will they navigate the wedding?

I love fun rom coms like this, throw in a different locale, and a wedding and you have me reading this in one sitting. I laughed quite a bit at how cute this one was.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I was interested in the concept of this book, but although it was passable, I didn't actively enjoy it. I didn't feel that invested in the story or characters, and found it dragged somewhat.

New York-based architect Sarah has travelled over to Ireland to be maid-of-honour at her best friend’s wedding. The last thing she expected was to be seated at the worst table, with her most recent one-night-stand beside her.
Declan is the groom’s brother and is still a bit miffed at being unceremoniously tossed out of Sarah’s apartment after their night of passion. And now Sarah has had a chance to get to know him a bit better, she can’t seem to get him out of her head.
The debut novel had cute characters, witty banter and engaging writing, although perhaps it needed a touch more conflict to stop the story dragging in the second half. But definitely an author to keep an eye on.

One Night Only follows Sarah and Declan, who have a one night stand the night before this book begins. Sarah kicks Declan out in the morning, only to soon find out that he is the brother of her best friend’s fiancé and the best man in the wedding that she has traveled to Ireland to attend. They hook up again in Ireland, and find that they keep running into each other when they return to New York.

I really thought that I was going to love this book at the beginning, but I unfortunately struggled to get through the rest of the book once Sarah and Declan arrived back in New York. I loved Sarah’s sex positivity, but I just couldn’t connect to her character. I can see how people would enjoy this book, but it just wasn’t for me.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!
