This was an interesting enough read but it was just not the book for me. I can see other readers loving it as I enjoyed parts of it. But I personally could just not connect with either Daniel or Olivia. I only got kinda invested in the story overall, but I think that's just a preference issue not an issue with the book.

Sorry, this one just wasn’t my cup of tea. Daniel was a bit too creepy for my liking. I couldn’t finish it.

Good story, Daniel and Olivia have great chemistry. I enjoy reading this book. But I don't love the authors technic of writing, sorry. At first it was annoying but I can't leave reading, the story is too good.
I received an ARC from Netgalley for a honest review.

I had a hard time getting into this book and it never really clicked for me. I didn’t understand the connection between the characters and I found Daniel to be creepy and overbearing.

There were many aspects of this book that I loved, but the characters were the most loveable part of Weekend Arrangement!

Both the characters of Olivia Jefferson and Daniel Lane are written really well, and become instantly loveable to the reader. I love the 'opposites attract' goal of this book, and Penhaglion does it SO WELL! I found it really interesting to see not only how different Olivia and Daniel were, alongside how different their lives were, while also seeing how they fit together, and how their differences complimented eachother.

All in all, I thought it was a great, quick read and I really enjoyed it! I look forward to reading more of Penhaglion's work!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of Weekend Arrangement in exchange for my honest review. Olivia, a freelance writer who is struggling to make ends meet, is a fun and likable main character. At the beginning of the book, she is stuck in the status quo, living with a boyfriend who she should have broken up with upon college graduation. I really liked how Olivia finds her strength and voice as the plot unfolds. Daniel Lane, the CEO of the publisher who contracts to publish Olivia’s travel guides for single women, is a little stalkerish as he pursues Olivia, and that behavior detracted a little from my overall enjoyment of the book. Still, however, I enjoyed the book and will seek out other books by Sophie Penhaligon.

Such a quick read. I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the wanderlust feel of it. I liked the characters, they got a long and had a lot of chemistry.

Olivia is an aspiring travel writer and Daniel is the owner of a publishing company. When they meet, sparks fly and a romance ensues.

The premise of this book was great, but it fell flat for me. I found Olivia to be almost to easy going. She seems to just accept everything and people at face value, which didn’t seem like her initial personality, given her friends assault that played a key role in her book development/ideas and her being.

Daniel was just a little weird and creepy to me. He has a history of being a playboy and then comes up with this scheme to lure Olivia to his country house and to spend the weekend and she says okay? It just didn’t make sense to me.

Many times things felt like they were introduced to just add conflict, with no real connection to the story. The conflict could have been brought up in a more natural way.

All in all this book was just not a great read for me. The character felt one dimensional to me and it just seemed unbelievable.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

This book was not for me sorry. I found Daniel a bit stalkerish and felt Olivia needed more self worth. It was confusing.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing team for sharing this ARC with me!
The idea & cover behind Weekend Arrangement really sold me on this book but it didn't quite live up to the hype. The gist of the story of aspiring travel writer Olivia and swoony CEO Daniel sounds something straight out of a Netflix rom-com. I really did not like how Olivia was portrayed as a loud and always drinking too much. The relationship between her and Daniel seemed really toxic to me. This story needed more development between the main characters and more chemistry. There a few nice moments throughout the story but they didn't elevate the characters into being more likeable.

I got this book from NetGalley and was glad to be chosen as I was intrigued by the cover. I never read the blurb or have any knowledge of a book prior to reading one. I like the excitement of never knowing what will happen.
This book was really cringey. The first half of the book was like an exact replica of 50 Shades of Grey.. quirky, different writer doesn't know she is beautiful meets rich CEO who sees through her dorkiness and sees a sexy person bla bla bla. I was actively wanting it to stop.
The author over does the whole "Olivia is not a normal girl" and it actually becomes patronising. Suggesting that any girl who is like X, Y or Z is not normal. Most women who do enjoy reading books will not be of the typical girl that the author describes and therefore most readers are likely to have more in common with Olivia.
The sex scenes were unimaginative and again, cringe.
The book then rushes to an end but then takes a long time to end. It hurt me to finish it. And I don't want to say that in a bad way but this was a very poorly written book riddled with spelling mistakes.
Sorry Penhaligon. Not for me.

A quick and easy summer read. A few characters left hanging, for example her ex and his receptionist, but otherwise a fun read. Would recommend.

If you are looking for the perfect beach read, then throw this book in your beach bag. While predictable at some points, there is something comforting about a fun romance with the occasional twist in the plot. There are some steamy scenes to keep the story going.

I did not like this book. It could have been more than it was, the characters were superficial and contradictory and not in a well written way. It was a shame as I liked the blurb.

I had a hard time getting into this book and it never really clicked for me. I didn’t understand the connection between the characters and I found Daniel to be creepy and overbearing. Olivia was full of contradictions and things that she was worried about in the beginning like paying bills suddenly disappeared by the mid-end of the book. It seemed like this book had a lot of details that were superfluous.

One thing that really bothered me about this book was that it never really set a place. I didn’t know what city they were in and that made it hard to connect to the story and begin to imagine it. I found that to be surprising because the rest of the book was very descriptive and was easy to visualize. It almost felt like the author was going out of her way to not share their location. That missing detail occupied my thoughts and I spent a lot of my energy on trying to figure out where they lived.

I enjoyed some of the dialogue and the relationship with Olivia’s family.

Want to be author Olivia is not like the other girls: she doesn't care about style but is incredible gorgeous and skinny, she has a bubbly outgoing best friend, and she reads Jane Austen. Few days post a break up she goes for a job interview where she meets the wealthy young CEO, Daniel. Daniel becomes instantly obsessed with her before she can finish her first sentence. From that moment on Daniel becomes possessive in his infatuated and it became clear to me Olivia dates whoever is the first guy who asks her.

This would be great for anyone that liked the characters of 50 Shades of Grey but did not like the virgin enters kinky sex contract part, because it's the exact same book missing the BDSM angle.

Had this came out 10 years ago when the billionaire notices super hot girl who doesn't know it trope was everywhere, this book might have gone over better, but now it is so full of what have become cliches it was not enjoyable for me.

The Weekend Arrangement takes an unconventional writer, Olivia, and puts her smack dab publisher-mogul-playboy sights. Not only is she finding publishing success, Olivia is smitten with Daniel and the story takes us on the trek that's their oddly-structured relationship.

I found this story entertaining, even though it lacks in certain areas. This book is quick and a bit fun.

However, we start off with a breakup between Olivia and her sucky current boyfriend and the whole thing is blah. We don't have enough context to care about either of these people at this point. I wish this part, specifically, was written differently.

Overall, some of the characterization is a bit unbelievable. I think Olivia is set up solid throughout but Daniel is lacking. There's also a little bit of toxic behavior, masked as charming, and I think this drops the title down a bit.

There's also a ton of repetition in regards to word/phrase choice. There are so many ways to eliminate this in writing and using the same word or phrase is lazy.

The premise of this book sounded super fun and made me excited to read it. The premise made the book sound like the perfect cute summer read. The story had a lot of potential, but I just could not connect with the characters. The relationship seemed to be a bit rushed and the characters did not have much depth. There were definitely some cute moments in the books that I enjoyed, but overall this book wasn't for me.

I really wanted to like this book and I think the concept was a good one. I think the execution was lacking. The writing seemed under-developed and I couldn’t connect to any of the characters. Past and current events were thrown in the mix that had potential to make this story so much more.m, but we’re never fully flushed out. I couldn’t get a clear picture of where the characters lived (US, Europe, somewhere else??) or who they were.

Olivia was the one character that I felt was more developed. I loved her kick-ass personality and unapologetic attitude: she was always her quirky, too-much-for-some, personality. Daniel had so much potential but he fell flat for me. I feel he used too many “pet” names (darling, sweetheart, honey, kitten, etc.). He was so sweet but came across as a wanna-be alpha.

This wasn't really my cup of tea. If I could I would have given 1 ⭐, but I can't as I really lived the premise and plot of the book and that's why I asked for an arc. But it really disappointed me. I thought It would be a cute rom-com but it wasn't. The characters were shallow and not developed and I felt like all the feelings were also superficial.

But also thank you NetGalley for approving my request.
