Brilliant; just brilliant.
Phoebe and Dan haven't been married long and have a young son; Charlie. Phoebe is pregnant with their second child when a terrible tragedy rips the family apart. Years later she tries to reconnect with her son but is so scared of rejection she's not honest with him about who she is. Will he find out, will he forgive her all of her mistakes or will he be more damaged than he would have been if she had just stayed away?
I've never been more desperate for a happy ending.

This is a good thriller. The story is told in multiple timelines. The characterisation is very good. There are some good tense moments in this book. The pacing is slightly off in places.

I really enjoyed this debut novel by Sarah Clarke and look forward to reading more of her work in the future. A twisty tale with an ending I did not see coming.

This was a surprisingly good book I must admit. A mother never lies was very different from what I expected. I really loved Phoebe Morgan's character but it wasn't immediate love. With every chapter, every story I warmed up to her till I found she's going to go down as one of my favorite book characters this year. This book was filled with drama & yes suspense too. Every chapter was a page turner in this book. Every chapter peels back the layers of Phoebe's character, all I can say is that this was a very well written book for a well thought plot. Stories that are heavy on drama are not usually my type but there's just something about this book, its characters that clicked! There are a few surprising twists but there isn't much I can without spoilers. I definitely recommend reading this book!

Thank you NetGalley, Sarah Clarke, HQ Digital for this arc!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.

I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.

A Mother Never Lies is a decent debut by Sarah Clarke. It is more psychological mystery/family drama than a thriller although there are a few surprises along the way. Fourteen years ago Phoebe lost her whole world when she had to put her son Charlie up for adoption. We find out early on her husband, Dan, died around the time she lost Charlie. The book is told through alternating timelines and perspectives. The layers are peeled back and the reader is clued in on Phoebe's upbringing and her relationship and subsequent marriage to Dan. Then, it flashes back to the present where Phoebe is living with her troubled parents and determined to find her son Charlie. The book seems to slow down a little in the middle but does pick up and readers will find themselves flying through the last chapters. The characters, especially Phoebe, can be very unlikeable but as the truth tumbles out it clicks more.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

A mothers love never ends. To what lengths would you go for your child. Can you ever forget what is left behind. This book broke my heart as a mother. What makes a mother, can a choice you made for the best of your child ever be forgiven. This book was so well done.

Told over a dual timeline we unravel the protagonist (Phoeve Taylors) story, the child she gave up for adoption 14 years ago and the awful circumstances surrounding it. Now she wants to take back what is hers - with devestating consequences.

The characters are well developed although somehwat bitter and angry (understandly so) and I really enjoyed the conclusion, twisty enough without being ridiculous - a quick and thought provokign read.

Really enjoyed this book, found it was unique to anything I previously read. This has captured my interest from the beginning and been a book I have struggled to put down.

This travels back forth from 1998 and now which I found easy enough to follow but some may not. Great read and overall would recommend giving it a go but could of been better.

Wow. This book was awesome. Full of suspense and characters were strong. The pace does drop off but I still really liked it. I couldnt stop reading it. It uses different timelines and was very well done.

Initially, after reading the description, I expected this to be a fast paced, creepy psychological thriller. However, the execution was quite different. This reads more like a slow-burn thriller. As we get to know Phoebe/Fiona and Ben/Charlie, I really enjoyed their relationship and watching Fiona walk in eggshells to protect her secret. As her past is slowly revealed to us throughout the book, she becomes even more fascinating and less pathetic than she seemed in the beginning. Her past trauma begins to explain why she is the person she is in the present. I loved the past POV parts and found those really exciting. However, at times it seemed like the author was just revisiting the facts we already knew and repeating details and making Fiona sound like a lunatic. The pace did begin to drop off towards the end too which I didn't love. There weren't any huge twists in this - just explanations that helped give more perspective on Phoebe and her actions which I enjoyed. The most intense moment of the book didn't really make sense to me and just seemed like a lazy ending to a long awaited moment between Phoebe and Charlie. I thought the ending was sweet but not satisfying. Overall though, I thought this was worth the read. I look forward to reading what Sarah Clarke publishes next. Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the much appreciated ARC in return for an honest review. 7/10 rounded up to 4 stars.

This book had me hooked from page one! My favorite part of reading this genre is when there are unexpected twists and turns, and the author of this novel delivered. Would definitely recommend!
