We loved this book! The boys are really enjoying these books and learning about historical figures. David Attenborough has been Raff’s (5) favourite because he loves learning about animals just like David!
Highly recommend
A great way to find out a bit more about David Attenborough before he became so famous, a national treasure, and everyone's favourite wildlife programme presenter and narrator. I enjoyed it as much as the children did.
This is a nice little children's book about David Attenborough, which has lovely graphics and easy to read text. It shows the life of David and how he grew up in the UK on the campus of a university, where his father was a teacher. He studied science and zoology at university and then he worked in television, where he filmed many shows about animals, in order to show people how animals live in the wild. This is the baby edition of the book, so it is quite short, but it will keep children engaged. I enjoyed reading it.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Little People Big Dreams series come in a variety of formats. The book I'm reviewing now is the board book aimed at babies and toddlers. While it still tells David Attenborough's story, it does so in simpler sentences and they're perfect for reading aloud to little ones.
As with all the books in the series the pictures are lovely. They're really eye catching with bold colours making them perfect for grabbing the attention of young children.
So many people, my family included, look up to David Attenborough so it's interesting to read about his younger life and upbringing. It reminds the children that people who grow up to do wonderful things all start out just like them - a child with a dream.
This book shows how David Attenborough cared about animals and wildlife from a really young age. It's never too early to teach young children the importance of looking after animals and the environment. The book perfectly highlights the great man Sir David is. I also enjoyed that the book had a timeline at the end and a more detailed description to run alongside the text in the main story.
It's another great addition to the Little People Big Dreams series.

This delightful edition to the little people: BIG DREAMS collection focuses on Sir David Attenborough and his life’s works surrounding animals and our planet.
Sir David Attenborough is a well-known name and I imagine most children will have heard his name mentioned at some point so again, this book is great to give them further knowledge into him and his background. He is an inspiring man with whom children can learn to respect their world around them and the animals that habitats within it.
I liked this story as I’m a big fan of Sir David. I think he has done such wonderful things in educating and bringing awareness to the people of the world; where animals and the environment is concerned. This book perfectly compliments that in a way for young children to understand and learn from.
This book is full of beautiful illustrations that show Attenborough doing what he does best. It is full of simple text, making it easy for young readers to read and understand. It is informational without being overwhelming and an enjoyable read. I think children who read this will could easily go on to find a further interest into the world and it’s creatures around them, just as a Young Attenborough inspired to do so.
**I received an advanced copy of this ebook to read and review. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me this opportunity**
This is a lovely little book perfect for introducing little ones to David Attenborough, my little sister LOVES his documentaries and so this was a perfect addition and was great to learn more about the man behind the camera
I wish the baby edition of these books had been introduced when my son was born as these would definitely been added to his book collection.
A colourful book which is a great addition to the little people, big dreams collection.
Thank you Netgalley for this book in return for my honest review.
Such a beautiful series of children’s books. These books introduce children to some wonderfully inspirational people. They briefly delve into the past of some great people and show kids that if they dream big enough and work hard, they can be anything they want to be.
Charming little book to inform and inspire. I imagine it offers parents/carers the opportunity to discuss further with children as they share this together.
As always, I am always looking out for new books from this range.
This time was David Attenborough who I genuinely like anyway so was over the moon to get to read this one.
Great book that had interesting facts about his life growing up, with great illustrations alongside.
Ended abruptly though - almost felt like it was only just getting going then it ended. Can't fault what was written though.
I love the books in this series and I am always delighted to see when they have new releases out - and this book features a man who has been a hero of mine from a very young age. I remember watching Wildlife on One on the BBC with my dad when I was little and I have also been lucky enough to meet him a handful of times too!
The images are great and I loved how the book also focussed on his interests in fossils too as that was really his first true love! I thought it was good to show how much of an impact he has made by showing some of the different animals, insects and creatures he has named after him too - he will certainly be greatly missed when he does pass on as he has been a leader in his field bringing the animals and wildlife to our screens and a great conservationist in his later years.
It is 5 stars from me for this one, it is yet another great addition to the series and one that both my daughter and I enjoyed - very highly recommended!
WoW! Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara books must be one of the best little books to purchase for children, these are the best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream.
So, this latest book is about Sir David Attenborough by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and is just brilliant. "A masterpiece to a Great Man!" who is the most inspired loved broadcaster and conservationist.
I just everything about this lovely gentle man, and grew up watching him on television.
This latest book is full of great illustrations with extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the inspiring Sir David's life."
It's one book, you should definitely buy for your little readers so they can learn about this wonderful artist.
I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books
Many thanks to Quarto’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was expecting a little more from this book. I think this is the early readers' version because it is even smaller than the other books I've read in this series. The language is age appropriate and the sentences are simple enough for that age group. I suppose it does meet its target audience requirement but it was a little disappointing to me as it seemed an extremely condensed version of such a rich life.
I received an advance copy of, David Attenborough, by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This is a good book on David Attenborough life, his love of animals and the planet.
I absolutely adore the Little People, Big Dreams series and this book, focusing on David Attenborough did not disappoint. Filled with glorious illustrations, these texts are a fabulous springboard for classroom discussion. I love how they cover such a broad range of famous faces, from scientists to musicians.
Having previous enjoyed the David Attenborough book, I was interested to see how the story had been simplified for the younger intended audience of this board book. I was very impressed: the story retains all of its important morals and still gives key details about this inspirational conservationist but the text has been diluted. This makes it easier to read and understand for a younger audience. It still provides the opportunity for important discussion albeit in a more simplistic manner.
We will be adding this book to our bookshelf for Nursery and Reception children to access, but it would be equally helpful even for older readers. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Huge fan of the little people big dreams books - and really love that they're now catering for younger children with their board book editions.
I think this book is super cute, and has great illustrations for little ones. It doesn't go into much detail but the personality and passions of Sir David Attenborough certainly shine through. How they manage to do this in under 20 pages is beyond me!
Really cute book, and a must have for mini nature/animal lovers! Inspiring as always!
I love his this book series as does my youngest daughter.
This book is for younger children. Early readers will manage to read themselves with a little assistance .. It’s beautifully illustrated and a brilliant introduction to the incredible work of David Attenborough. We enjoyed the pages on his early life and we’ve plans to watch some his documentaries this weekend after enjoying the book.
This was clearly organized and written for young readers to get an understanding of David Attenborough. The illustrations, while drawn, gave a lot of details that helped the reader understand more about his life. This is perfect to pre-k kids or younger.
I loved this book, it's perfect for little kids to give them an introduction to David Attenborough but also as a window to his wonderful programs and to his fascinating life and work. It's a very short book but it's very beautiful and the illustrations are gorgeous.
