Such a cute and funny picture book that is sure to make the little ones laugh their bottoms off. Will be popular among the 2-7 age range!
A fabulous rhymer filled with dragons, giggles and a lack of fire. Poor dragon, with no fire what can they do? Maybe Sir Wayne can help...
Bottoms and dragons!! Who could ask for anything more?
Though the surprise of the ending is really spoiled by the title!
The dragon is due to fight the knight... but he's run out of flame! Sir Wayne (best knightly name of all time) cooks him up a recipe to bring the fire back to his belly - will it work?
The recipe is amusing, the idea of the knight and dragon working together, and of course the ending had me chortling out loud, especially as the key word is unspoken but VERY CLEARLY OBVIOUS and no child or adult will be able to resist shouting it out loud (guilty here).
The story hints at the fact that Wayne sees more in the dragon than just flame, but doesn't follow up on this, which is just one tiny quibble, but the ending is just too funny not to be totally happy with the whole thing.
Quite liked the pictures too, amusing facial expressions and a style seen more in books for older children.
A winner though, a few rhymes that don't quite fit the pattern (the length of lines), but grown-ups can manage I'm sure.
For ages 3-8.
With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.
The Dragon With The Blazing Bottom absolutely would appeal to children's sense of humour in its rhyming tale. This is a great debut picture book by Beach. It hits all the right notes for pre-school to 5 year olds.
There are 2 great characters to meet - a knight - Sir Wayne and a huge, bright red dragon who can't breathe fire. The knight assists the dragon and the illustrations just add to the fun of this as many ways are tried.
Young children are sure to have fun as they discover what happens to the dragon.
It'll absolutely appeal to children with that "toilet" sense of humour and those who like dragons, knights and dinosaurs, like the one who pooped... It's sure to gross them out in a way that will have them laugh lots.
It's a book that is great for bringing some humour into your child's life and one that adults can have fun with when reading it to their child(ren).
This is a hilarious story that my kids loved and now want nightly. It is perfect for younger children as they love anything to do with butts! It does use the word fart as an FYI but otherwise a perfect picture book!
A simple yet fun rhyming story perfect for bedtimes, it went down a treat here,
Great artwork too perfect for those who like a bit of a fun bedtime story
Great illustrations and a fun rhyming story which talks about bottoms, farts and snot. When the dragon gets his fire back let's just say it doesn't come out through his mouth. A hit with my 5 year old.
Unbelievably hilarious and full of raucous rhymes!
Dragon is meant to breathe fire but it just isn't working so the brave, daring knight sets to work to help dragon out.
He concocts a flamy recipe sure to cure dragon of his fireless breathe....but flames do not come shooting out of his mouth....
Children will adore this fantastically funny rhyming story of a dragon and his after dinner antics!
Colourful, bright and bold illustrations will make children follow closely along to see what might happen next.
One for the favourites list for sure- I can't wait to read this aloud during library sessions this year!
A sweet, short and funny bedtime story. This was a quick read, however well written by the author. The illustrations were fab and really colourful,
I love a good rhyming book to read and the mentions of farts and snot were definitely right up Riley's street, prompting lots of giggles! This would go down a treat for a bedtime story or as a gift.
I'm still smiling! Ahh, The Dragon with the Blazing Bottom is extraordinarily funny! I would love to see children laugh while reading this amazing book. The illustrations and the colour palette is impressive; it was a joy to look at them! Amazing book.
My children found this funny rhyming story absolutely hilarious and laughed all the way through it.
Poor Dragon can't breathe fire anymore so Sir Wayne the Knight tries to help.
He cooks up a spicy meal to help Dragon but he finds fiery flames appear from somewhere he wasn't expecting!
The illustrations in this story are fabulous and add to the brilliant humour in the story.
This is a great picture book that my children have wanted to reread and we're excited to read the next book in this new series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for this eARC.
Everyone knows that children absolutely love anything to do with bottoms, farts or burps! The title of this book instantly makes you think it's going to be funny! The illustrations are engaging and make you want to spend time looking at the pictures before turning the page. A story about a dragon and a boy called Sir Wayne, who helps the dragon find his missing fire and it wasn't coming out where you would expect it too! Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
What a fantastic read in the first of what promises to be a super new series by Beach. Dragon is mid fight with Sir Wayne the Knight when he realises he cannot breathe fire. Hilariously the two stop fighting to discuss what the issues may be: teeth too clean or diet too poor... Sir Wayne reveals that he knows just the recipe to cure dragon. It backfires (no pun intended!) with humorous consequences. This is such an entertaining read, with catchy rhyming and great illustrations. My daughter and I laughed our way through it and cannot wait to discover future stories with dragon. #TheDragonwiththeBlazingBottom #Beach #Netgalley #Simon&Schuster
Today was another exciting day, we sat down to read 'The Dragon With The Blazing Bottom' by Beach. Expected to be released in September 2021, it is the first instalment of a comical series following a dragon who has lost his flame.
Bella was IMMEDIATELY drawn to this book through the title alone - it is almost a guarantee that if book has a funny, or rude title its inviting towards a child, and this was no exception! Here is what we thought...
Bella: 100/10
Charlotte: 10/10
I have to admit, I had high hopes for this book from the first look and it did not disappoint! It is expertly written, Bella read this one to me herself and found it easy to follow (apart from when she lost herself in a fit of giggles) and found herself lost in the truly exceptional illustrations - we would spend a couple minutes on each page! I have no complaints for this book at all, it was funny, charming and full of character! I am looking forward to the rest of the series!
A delightfully funny story for very young readers who love tales of knights and dragons. However, this dragon has lost his fire and he needs the help of Wayne, the knight, to help him get it back. When the fire is re-kindled it comes as a surprise that it doesn't exit via the dragon's mouth. Let's just say that you don't want to be behind him at any time! I loved this story and the humorous and bright illustrations that really add to the whole book.
I read this book with my very soon to be four-year-old daughter and she LOVED it.
She was giggling away and we really had fun reading about the Dragon!
The illustrations were great and they really brought the story to life too – it was well written and well-paced and perfect for her to follow the story – we had quite a few “oh no, dragon!!” comments too and it was lovely to see her so engaged in the story.
As a mum and seeing how much she enjoyed it I am delighted that this is the first boo in a new series and we are eagerly awaiting the next one now!
It is 5 stars from us – very highly recommended!!
Oh how I wish my children were still little. This would have been a firm favourite for a bedtime read.
Rhyming verse with lovely colourful pictures. Best of all it talks about farts. Always a hit with children. I shall be certainly buying copies of this book to give as Christmas presents.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to see an ARC
This is an absolute winner. Younger readers and teachers of KS1 and early years are going to adore this book. A wonderful tale of a dragon who has lost his flame and worries about his image. He proceeds to get advice from a knight and is recommended a special menu with unexpected consequences. The illustrations by new a author called Beach are fantastic and the rhyming verses are excellent ..humorous and with a broad vocabulary for building up the word knowledge of under 7 year olds
I will be highly recommending this to teachers and family over the coming months and can’t wait to see what the dragon does next … children are going to love this (and let’s see if an animated version will one day appear)
First in a series about a dragon who has lost his flame.
A book that you can read through in only a couple of minutes, yet it has a beginning, a middle and an end. Written in rhyme and very witty. Mentions of snot and farts will delight the young audience and there is enough clever verse to please an adult too.
Sure to be popular and the colourful, zany illustrations round off a pretty much perfect package.
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon And Schuster UK Children’s for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
I read this to my daughters for their bedtime story tonight and it went down a treat!
The simple story and awesome rhymes made it a breeze to read to two giggling girls. The illustrations were fun and vibrant. Definitely one that will make it to future bedtime reads!
Its been likened to books of the Dinosaur that pooped series and I would say that's fair, it's got the same easy flow and giggle factor!
Great read for any cheeky children 😊
