Cait is having a harder time resisting Brant lately. Then he goes and rescues her and a dog from the marsh, and co-adopts the dog with her. Now she's finding it even harder to resist the man with his kind nature and his beautiful smile. Will she let him past her walls completely? Or have the scars from her past done too much damage to her? Is her heart filled with too much fear at taking that leap with Brant?
Brant has been drawn to the gorgeous, skittish woman he calls Caity ever since she appeared on the island. He flirts and he charms, but he knows the shadows he sees in her eyes are there for a reason. Rescuing her and a dog from the marsh, though, then offering to co-adopt the dog with her has given him a way to reach her, to scale the walls she keeps around herself. He knows she's wary, but he's determined to get herself to open up completely to him, to get her to see how he feels about her. Now she just has to figure out her part and let him in.
Cait - my God, I just wanted to give this woman a huge hug the whole way through. She had been through so much, was so guarded, but I could tell even before she opened up to Brant that she had so much love to give. I love the way Brant sweetly, gently (and so so deliciously) wooed her and found his way into her heart. Sweet, swoony and sexy - now I can't wait for more Silver Harbor.
There is so much to love about this book. Cait hasn’t had the best past, whether it was growing up or when she was older. Her life after receiving a request to come to Silver Island has changed dramatically. She has sisters and a new business venture she is helping with on Silver Island, but she’s still holding on to the life she has in the Cape. The Cape is safe and Silver Island is the unknown add in good looking and supportive Brant Remington and Cait really doesn’t know what to do. She is more a sit back and observe person because of her past hurts. Brant wants so much to help her break those chains from Cait’s past that are holding her back. And with a little help from an adorable little dog named Scrappy that they rescued from drowning and now they co-parent. I absolutely love how Brant did that and now he’s got his in to become closer to Cait without overwhelming her. Such a great read!!!!
Cute, cute, cute!
This is the story of Cait, a girl with so much on her plate, trying to make sense of her new life and new found family and Brant, the easy going, flirty guy who sets his eyes on her and tries to convince her they are perfect for each other.
To be honest, he does his convincing nicely, being there for her every step she needs to, though the princess saves herself in this one. In the beginning he seems a bit too much, too pushy, but as the book progresses this issue gets tamer. Cait is a likeable character and all the gang and her dear friends make these pages filled with laughter and warmth.
This book has the typical Melissa Foster writing, at times it feels timeless, with the trademark big community and family love. It's a successful recipe for warming one's heart.
I received a copy of this in exchange for my honest opinion.
Cait Weatherby is finding herself and her place in the world. After dealing with so much after the loss of her adoptive mother and an abusive father she's finally in a good place. She's found her sisters and is trying to make her worlds mesh. Now she has to decide how much of a leap she's willing to take. Love and family never seemed in the cards for her, but now change has brought so many opportunities.
Brandt Remington is easygoing and knows what he wants, and he wants Cait. From the moment he met her he was inexplicably drawn to her. He didn't know the demons that kept her apart from everyone even when she was surrounded by friends and family. He doesn't to let her go, he's willing to go at her pace andhelp her slay her dragons. Because family is everything and he wants to be hers.
This is the story of Cait and Brant. Though it can be read as a standalone book, the overall story is enhanced if you've read the first book of the Silver Harbor series beforehand - it will give you a better picture of Cait's backstory. Cait has recently discovered/met her half sisters (she was given up for adoption as a newborn) and is currently splitting her time between Cape Cod and Silver Island. Cait carries a lot of secrets and hurt from her past and does everything she can to discourage Brant from his continuous flirting and whatnot each time he sees her.
She avoids Brant until one afternoon she discovers a puppy drowning in the water and goes in to save it, despite the fact that she cannot swim. Brant manages to rescue them both and their friendship/relationship truly begins. They both become co-parents to the dog that was rescued and that brings them much closer together.
This is a great story - it pulls you into Cait's life and the struggles she faces as she navigates the "new" to her life and works to find a balance between her new and old life on Cape Cod. Her new family, new surroundings, new friends, new work and opportunities and this new, budding relationship with Brant.
The patience Brant has with her as she works through her demons is heart-swooning. As she slowly begins to trust him and open up to him regarding her past - you want nothing more than for her to overcome the scars from her past and finally find a happily ever after with Brant. You will LOVE this journey - it will bring some tears, some laughs and cheering! Melissa Foster does it again!
I felt for Cait in this story. She has gone through so much but still possesses that quiet strength to keep moving forward. In comes in Brant and blows everything out of the water. He is patient, kind, funny, flirty, and everything Cait needs. The story is emotional at times, sweet, sexy, and so much more.
3.5 stars
Cait comes to Silver Island in the first book of this series, meeting her half-sisters as she helps renovate the bistro. There was immediate attraction when she met Brant.
In this book, we find out more about Cait's past, her scars and fears. Brant keeps pursuing her, and she has to decide if she is willing and able to trust him and start something. Brant is wonderful, just the kind of sweet and caring guy she needs. I enjoyed watching him encourage her to figure out her dreams and what she wanted from life. I enjoyed the support and encouragement from other characters, family and friends.
The book did have a lot of dialogue-heavy parts where they discussed feelings, so this relationship wasn't as light and fun as some others I've read from this author.
Cait definitely deserves a Melissa Foster story! If any character deserved a guy who would come in and treat her like gold, want to make sure she’s okay, share custody of a yorkie like Scrappy they rescued together, well, it’s Cait… An Brant, well he really is “the good one”, and I would like to find his IRL version, but this is why it’s fiction!
Seriously, you knew early on that Cait had issues, but as her story unfolded, the mom in me wanted to wrap her in a hug and give her copious amounts of hot cocoa.
And Brant, at one point I honestly thought he was being a little too easy going, but he was where she needed him to be.
Now, if we could just figure out how to get him how to walk off the page…
“Maybe We Should” is an extraordinarily beautiful and uplifting story from beginning to end and I was swept away by the sweet and tender romance of Cait and Brant.
Brant fell for Cait the first time he saw her and was intrigued by her beauty and her gentle shyness. Cait doesn’t trust easily, has never had a real family, and doesn’t know what real love feels like. Cait loves mermaids and they hold a special meaning to her because it was the last bond she had with her mother. Spending time at the ocean brings her peace and makes her feel closer to her mother.
Brant’s flirtatious personality brought Cait out of her shell and he loved to make her smile and laugh. You could say their meet-cute, when they officially fell for each other, was at the beach when they rescued their dog, Scrappy! Brant’s dream came true that day at the beach which set the stage for his romantic pursuit to win Cait’s heart. Cait wasn’t convinced that she was ready for romance but Brant was relentless with his flirty winks and sexy grins. Cait slowly opened up to Brant as she shared her past with him, and she became stronger with his support. He was everything she could ask for in a boyfriend and I cheered for Cait to let go of the past and embrace the love of her new family and of her hero, Brant.
Yet again, Melissa finds the right character to help heal another. This story will give you all the feels! I'm so in love with this Silver Harbor series, you don't want to miss out on it! 5 stars for this one!
Cait is helping her sister out at the new bistro she just opened and also traveling back and forth to the Cape to do tattoos at the tattoo parlor. One day while walking on the beach, she finds herself in a bit of trouble and is thankfully rescued by Brant. He's made no bones about being attracted to her, but she feels she so damaged by her past that she would never find love. Can he be the man to make her realize he's in it for real and she's worth it?
Brant does beautiful work building and restoring boats. From the first time he laid eyes on Cait, he knew she was the one for him, but she's guarded, he wants to know who hurt her in her life to make her like this. He vows to show her just how worthy she is, if he can ever break down her walls first!
Loved this story, love this series! Melissa does a wonderful job with her characters, and I've fallen for each and every one of them! Grab this sweet sexy story asap!
Melissa Foster is always the queen of “All The Feels” and this story has it all. Brant and Cait (and Scrappy) are the kind of characters you instantly fall in love with. Swoony, sexy, hilarious, complicated and courageous. And their story sticks with you long after you read the end.
This story is not only a soul deep love story between two incredible characters, but it’s a love story about family, community and most importantly - love for yourself. I loved this story with a passion.
Melissa’s books always make my heart happy. The characters, settings and themes she creates are heart-warming, inspiring and happy. Her characters always teach us that love is truly always the answer and sometimes we have to go through uncomfortable things to become a better version of ourselves. And that vulnerability is a super power. Maybe We Should is a prime example of the gifts Melissa gives us with her stories. This story is truly everything.
I enjoyed reading this book. Cait suffered much trauma from a young age from her adoptive mother dying when she was four to her adoptive father physically and emotionally abusing her. She spent a lot of time running from her past. Finding out she was adopted, that her birth mom and adoptive mom were in contact with each other, that she had two half-sisters, and was being relentlessly pursued by Brant. It was almost too much. Like how was this woman still standing? Because she's got grit and a whole lot of people lifting her up like Tank Wicked (love him!), her sisters Abby and Dee, Brant's WHOLE rambunctious and fun family, and the whole community of Silver Island. Sharing her past with her sisters and Brant gave her the opportunity to soar free and accept the love that the people around her were giving.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
Maybe We Should is the second book in the Silver Harbor series and I was glad to be back with this group of people.
Cait Weatherby has recently found the half-sisters she never knew she had. While it's been bittersweet because she found them after her biological mother passed away, she's learning to embrace the idea of family even though she didn't have the best childhood. She works with her sister Abby running the new bistro in Silver Harbor, but she continues to travel to the Cape to work at Wicked Ink, the tattoo parlor. She's incredibly strong and independent, but it's time for her to lean on the friends and family she has as well.
Brant Remington grew up in Silver Harbor and is a boat builder. He's got a lucrative business and he's never been shy about how much he likes Cait. He's caring, considerate, honest and hard working. He's truly one of the good ones, but will he be able to get Cait to see past her insecurities to realize he really sees her?
I really appreciated the way this story was told. Cait had been through so much and she had to be ready to share and once she was, you could see the growth begin. Brant was so wonderful and supportive and that was exactly what Cait needed. I enjoyed getting to visit with other familiar folks as well. This one is worth the read!

An emotional and sexy novel about guarded hearts, finding love, and families lost and found by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of Maybe We Will.
After spending years wondering who she was, tattoo artist Cait Weatherby finally found her answers on the sandy shores of Silver Island. With two half sisters she never knew existed, a group of friends she adores, and a devastatingly charming admirer who flirts with her at every turn, she’s ready to figure out her next steps. The trouble is, Cait lives in the shadows of a dark past, and she can’t afford complications that might cause her to lose the family she’s only just found—complications like blue-eyed boatbuilder Brant Remington, who is as open as she is guarded. If only the sexy charmer would take the hint…
Brant is Cait’s opposite in every way, but he’s drawn to everything about the sexy newcomer—from the quiet strength that rivals the caution in her mossy-green eyes to her tough facade that he can’t wait to strip away.
As Brant works his magic, Cait’s walls come down. But as sweet as that feels, Cait knows how quickly good things can turn bad. It’s going to take more than a little trust to beat the ghosts of her past and claim the future they both deserve.
I was hooked at the very start of Maybe We Should. Brant and Cait are such wonderful characters. Brant is so caring and patient and Cait, who is so strong with all that that has gone through in her past. They have such wonderful chemistry together. What a fabulous read.
5 Star Review of Maybe We Should (Silver Harbor #2) by Melissa Foster
It was great to be back on Silver Island for the second book in the latest series by Melissa Foster. Maybe We Should was well written with characters whose story you cannot help but become quickly invested in.
Cait and Brant could not be more opposite and yet there is something between them that is impossible to ignore. I really liked Cait and Brant and it was interesting to watch as Brant did his best to break down the walls that Cait has surrounded herself with. What will happen when Cait’s past comes back to haunt her? Will it destroy their blossoming relationship before it gets the chance that it deserves?
The chemistry between Cait and Brant is intense and their connection strong. The banter between them is witty and as they they get to know one another the attraction ignites. This was an emotional roller coaster of a read that got to me on a number of levels. I really liked Brant in the first book, but I fell completely for him in this story, what a swoon worthy, caring man.
Cait and Brant are meant to be together and I was cheering for them to get the happily ever after that they both deserved.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley
I love everything I read by Melissa Foster and this did not disappoint. We met Cait in the first book and learned a bit about her past. Her coming to Silver Island and meeting her half sister's, and making friends.
Brant is an absolute dream and very swoon-worthy! Watching their relationship develop and learning more about her past made this a great read for me.
This follows the journey of Cait and Brant. Cait is new to the Island on which Brant has spent his entire life. Cait was adopted as a baby, and recently learned about her birth mother and two half sisters. She has reconnected with them and now divides her time between the Island and the Cape where she has friends that are her family. Brant had instant attraction right away to Cait and has been trying to get close to her ever since, Cait has had experiences that have left her traumatized and slow to trust and has avidly avoided being alone with him since meeting him a few months ago.
Their story, despite the very heavy and deep topics brought up, was a lighthearted and sweet romance. Brant is definitely more of a Beta hero - he is charming, funny, patient and able to handle anything that Cait throws his way, but it was almost too much so and it seemed at times our only glimpses of him were in his feelings for and thoughts around Cait. Overall this is a very heartwarming story about finding yourself and your friends and family along the way. I'm now planning to go and read Tank's story(Cait's boss and best friend).
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for this Advance Reader Copy. I have voluntarily left an honest review.
Melissa Foster draws you in so you become part of her world! Brant Remington and Cait Weatherby's story is no exception!
Cait's world has been turned upside down several times. When she was a child she was abused by her adoptive father, and more recently by finding out she has two half sisters. She is a remarkably strong woman who is very guarded as one could imagine. She puts on a tough persona and insists she doesn't need anyone. With the help of Brant Remington, who has wanted her since he first saw her, she learns to trust and work through all the horrors of her past. I love how patient and understanding Brant is with Cait, letting her go through things at her pace and not pushing her. I enjoyed that she works for Tank Wicked and we get to catch up with some of the Wickeds! Maybe We Should is the second book of the Silver Harbor series, but is also a stand alone. Don't worry if you haven't read the first book or any of the Wickeds yet! I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! This book blew me away. I've been curious about Cait's backstory since I met her in other books and this book did not disappoint. I could feel all of Cait's pain as she had to push past her demons to figure out that life is better with Brant by her side.
What can I say about Brant...he's got the hero thing in the bag and clearly is willing to go at Cait's pace. I love how he worms his way into her heart and helps her push past her demons so they can face an amazing future together.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of these two in the coming books.
