I've read a few stories by Melissa Foster, which I all loved, so my expectations were quite high. Unfortunately they were not met or exceeded. The story is messy and the writing is chaotic. I also didn't feel the chemistry between Cait and Brent at all, it felt a bit forced even. Definitely my least favorite story by this author so far.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author, for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Cait has trust issue, and Brandt has a crush on her. Saving a drowning dog goes awry when she can’t swim and he recuses both. Time to share the dog. So fun to see them together. Book 2 in the series but can stand alone. Fun and easy summer read with a good HEA. Would recommend.
This is my first Melissa Foster read and I want to hit myself. Why haven't I read any of her books before?! Guys, this book. I was like 'aww' and 😍 and 🥺 the whole time.
Maybe We Should is part of the Love in Bloom world which has several family series. Many of the cast make an appearance in this book and they're all very loveable and made me curious about their stories. However, this is still a stand-alone.
I loved Brant and Cait 🥰 Brant is such a sweetie. You cannot help but cheer both of them on. Why you should pick up this book:
- Hit me in the feels right from the start
- Brant is swoonworthy, sweet and adorable - basically the guy you want to always have in your corner
- Cait has so many walls up, but it's a joy to see how she grows into this strong woman who discovers herself
- Has some really funny moments
- Loved the other relationships portrayed - made me want to read all about the secondary characters
If you've been a fool like me and haven't read Melissa Foster before, Maybe We Should is a good place to start.
The book will be releasing on November 2nd and will be free on Kindle Unlimited.

I wanted so much for this experience to be a positive one, so I could start on a high note with my first ‘read now’ arc from NG. Unfortunately, this was not to be.
I’m just going to be upfront here. I generally find romance written in the third person the most problematic & difficult to connect vs other genres written in third person. I’m not about to say it never works for me in romance. It definitely has happened, which is why I took the time & gave it a genuine chance. Nonetheless aside from one or two romance authors, it’s one of those things that’s far & few between when I find a third person romance that appeals to me. That’s a pretty consistent preference for me the more I read romance.
I wish I could say that was it, but it wasn’t one thing. The beginning read like my copy was missing the first maybe 3-5 chapters that set up the rest of the story. I felt that much more left out & a little put off, to be honest. The writing itself was sometimes a little wordy - I felt the effort in the writing vs a natural flow. Between those things & being written in the third person, finding a connection to the story felt out of my grasp throughout.
Maybe We Should is book two of the Silver Harbor series of contemporary romances.
This is the story of Cait and Brant. Cait works at Wicked Ink, as a tattooist and she recently discovered that she had two sisters; a family that she had always dreamed of. Now she is part owner of a bistro and a house on Silver Island. Cait’s new sister Abby has fallen in love and Cait is envious; she wants a love like that, but who would want her with the emotional scars that she carries?
Brant knew Cait was ‘the one’ from the first moment that he saw her three months ago, but his flirting with her didn’t get him the girl. Until the day he rescued her from almost drowning. Cait was trying to rescue a dog and when Grant grabbed them both it was the opportunity he needed to get closer to Cait.
There is a lot of deep healing love in this story, which Cait needs. It was hard to hear about Cait’s past and the abuse that she suffered, but awareness of this is very important and I thought that it was dealt with sensitively. I enjoyed the mermaid sub-them too; Silver island is a special place and I look forward to reading more stories in this setting.
Iove the name cait. Ioved that she was on an island . I loved that she had a job as a tattooist. I understood her struggle with two jobs and trukng to find herself. I liked her half sisters and birth mom. I liked when Brandt helped her from drowning.
A really emotional book, which deals with the scars Cait has from being brought up in an emotionally abusive foster home. She is a very strong woman who through the determination and love shown to her by Brant and her two chosen families, finally stands up to her stepfather and carves out a new life for herself.. A very well written story.
Great book! I am really loving this series!! I have Bern into mystery thrillers lately so I was nervous that I wouldn't enjoy reading this as in every book I've read lately that's not a thriller I have not liked at all! But Melissa pulled it out again! I really liked this book! It had heartache and heartbreak and gave me all the feels! I loved all the characters and I think you will too! Definitely don't miss out on this book and series! They're well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! And a big thank you to Melissa Foster for your amazing words!
I truly cant find the word to describe how truly amazing this book was. It was a realistic 21-century romance. I felt every emotion these main characters felt. I can completely relate to the main female character. I love that this book was authentic. Yes, it has the theme of other books but it has a unique way of telling the story. I greatly enjoyed reading this book
