The final instalment of Stoker's Silvertone series doesn't disappoint, we finally get Gramps story and boy was it intense. Stoker wraps the series perfectly and I found it quite sad to be saying goodbye to this group
Susan Stoker is one of my favorite authors and I never miss one of her books. This is the final book in the Silverstone Towing series and this is Leo "Gramps" story. Gramps is watching all his friends find love and wondering if it time to hang up their special ops gig. Cassidy took her son Mario to Jamaica to get away from a toxic relationship. The team receives copies of letters that Cassidy has been sending the FBI after she is held against her will with her son Mario in Jamaica by a drug lord for several years. Gramps remembers Cassidy from high school and the chemistry they shared but never acted on. The team goes to rescues Cassidy and her son. After the rescues she relocates to Indiana near Gramps as she has no were else to go. It was really nice to see the slow build of their second chance romance. I enjoyed how the team and their loved ones excepted her and her son. I loved her son Mario. Gramps was so patience and kind with him. Of course you have the suspense and danger. This was a great way to end the series. I highly recommend.
I received this ARC from Netgalley for my honest review.
I'm conflicted by this book, I loved it but I hate that it's the last story in this saga. Anyone who hasn't read the Silverstone series could start with Cassidy and Leo but they will enjoy it so much they will want to go back and read the first three. The author has a talent for sucking you into the universe she has created. A perfect combination of dark and gritty and light and hopeful. When I pick one of her books up I can't put it down!
I really miss this author's early books. Now it seems that her stories all all the same, just with different characters and locations. I wanted to like this one, but it was too repetitive and predictable.
I always enjoy reading Susan Stoker’s books. I’ve read the other installments in the Silverstone Series and this was a wonderful end to the series. I think many of have that “one that got away” or have a person we wish we could do a do over with, and it was so lovely to see Gramps get his second chance and happily ever after. I also loved the epilogue at the end really does show us how the entire gang gets on for years after the end of the story (not just like a year or two on like most books do), felt like great closure for the entire series! This was an enjoyable read!
Cassidy has found herself and her son in a bit of a pickle. She took an opportunity in the Caribbean that became a nightmare. Will a blast from her past be able to save her and her son?
Gramps is the last holdout. His friends have found their happily ever after. But when the one who got away needs help can he grab at his second chance with both hands?
Trusting Cassidy is the final installment in Susan Stoker's Silverstone series. I loved that Gramps was finally get his happily ever after. He has been there for his friends and now it was his turn. I love that Cassidy was the one who got away. I loved even more finding out why. Finding out that Cassidy had found trouble in paradise along with a determination to free her was well articulated by Ms. Stoker. I loved that Leo was determined to do right by Cassidy even if his feelings were not returned. I loved that Leo fought for what was right. And I especially loved that he was not alone in his feelings.
And the woman that Ms. Stoker gave him was wonderful. She fought for her son. She fought for herself. And she ultimately fought for the family she has gained. I loved seeing Cassidy find forgiveness even as she regained her independence. She was determined to move past her fears and mistakes and Ms. Stoker gave her a man strong enough to lift her up even as he stood by her side.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Ms. Stoker did not disappoint as we returned to the world inhabited by the men of Silverstone.
Cassidy wanted a fresh start for her and her son after the end of her marriage. The move to Jamaica was supposed to give her time to regroup, but turned into a nightmare. Her charming boss turned out to be a drug lord who wouldn’t let her or her son go. She risked everything to contact to FBI to ask for help. She never would have guessed that help would be from her old high school crush Leo ‘Gramps’. Leo and his friends work with the government to bring down the worst of the worst and when Leo discovers his old friend is in trouble he will do whatever’s it takes to set her fee. They get back to the states and the spark they had all those years ago reignites, but Cassidy is cautious as she doesn’t want to make any more wrong moves. She blames herself for the situation she and her son ended up in. Leo is exactly what she needs. He shows her and her son the love they deserve and they give him a family he never thought he would have. Unfortunately their troubles follow them home and some hard decisions are made. I enjoyed the action and that all the couples from previous books in the serious were involved. I loved Leo & Mario’s relationship. As this was the last book in the series there was an extended epilogue that gave incite into the lives of all the couples far into the future which I really enjoyed. Thoroughly enjoyable way to end the series.
This is more of a mystery/thriller with a love story on the side. It's a good vacation read, reminds me of a Lifetime movie plot. The epilogue was my favorite part where you learn more about some of the other characters in the story - I hope there are spinoffs to hear more of their stories!
This was the last installment of the Silverstone series by Susan Stoker. I have read all the others too. I enjoyed the book as I did the others. This book was about Gramps, the oldest member. I liked him a lot, I'm glad he got his story. Cassidy went to school with him, but was younger. When Gramps finds out that she is being held by a Jamaican drug lord, he has to help. He works with his team to rescue her and her son. They also want to take down the drug lord. I like the fact that she always had a crush on him. He also liked her, but they were too young. Now he has his chance to start over with the girl he let get away in the past. Lots of action and passion. There was a lot of emotional and family interaction between her son and the main characters. A lot of the focus was on her son. A little to much for me, because I like romance more. But I still enjoyed it, and look forward to new Susan Stoker books. Thank you for a chance to rad and review.
This series is not afraid to show the dark side and does it well. Fortunately, the Silverstone group is works to bring light. When Gramps finds out his high school crush is endangered by a Jamaican drug kingpin, he and his friends go to rescue her and her son. Their romance has been a long time coming and is not without hurdles. It was refreshing to see a romance for mature adults. This is the conclusion of the series which has been a delight to read.
Trusting Cassidy was an excellent read. It was very intense and action packed. Gramps and his team had their plans well defined in order to rescue Cassidy and her son while making sure they put an end to the sought after Jamaican drug lord. Gramps hoped he would finally have a chance at getting to know Cassidy again. He messed up when they were younger. Cassidy did not know if what she had done would be enough to save her son and maybe with a little luck, herself. When she sees the boy who is now a man from her past she is stunned and confused.
This was an excellent story and it was a great ending to the series. It definitely kept me at the edge of my seat.
This lastest and last book in the series.
The story centers around single mom Cassidy Hewitt and Leo/Gramps Zanardi.
Cassidy and her son never realized their trip to Jamaica would lead to a year of being held by a drug kingpin. She risks her life and sends letters to the FBI never expecting that the man. The boy, now a man with whom she had a history from their years in HS.
Once rescued and back in the states the danger follows them. Will they survive it and get a chance on happiness?
Though a little less action packed than others, it was still a very good addition to the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Trusting Cassidy wraps up the Silverstone Series, we finally have "Gramps" story. Leo has always put his convert missions first but now that all his friends have found their soulmate he finds himself wishing he had found his. When he receives a letter that was sent to the FBI from a childhood, Cassidy he knows he will do everything in his powder to save her. Cassidy knows she has made some pretty bad choices but this one is a doozy. The great job she took to get away from a bad marriage ends up with her held captive along with her son in a drug kingpins home. Leo and his crew end up rescuing them and bringing them back home, little do they know a bigger threat is headed their way. Good story and really glad Leo has his own story, loved the ending and how everyone's story is wrapped up in a pretty bow.
They saved the best for last. Gramps “Leo” Zanardi gets his turn at love.
“Yup. I’m moody. Grumpy. I can’t ever remember birthdays or anniversaries . . . the important dates that women think I should. I’ve been called self-centered and selfish more than once, and they aren’t wrong.
Cassidy has gotten herself and her son into big trouble. A drug lord is holding them in Jamaica and won’t let them leave.
The Silverstone Team is one big family and I loved seeing all the characters again.
Action packed with a beautiful love story years in the making.
“Come on, mama bear. Let’s feed you and baby bear. You’ll both do great next week.”
A great ending to another wonderful series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Gramps and Cassidy go way back - as in almost 30 years. But live had other plans for both of them. Fortunately, for both their benefits, they get a second chance - though it really is a first chance - of finally finding their way. A very joyful, though in some parts suspensful - omygod, did this really just happen - and a little lovey-dovey here and there, but that belongs into every story. The four of them - Bull, Smoke, Eagle and Gramps did come a long way. It's too Bad, that Silverstone Towing is up and done and no more stories to be told. But Susan always includes a look into the future with every last book in a series and that makes it not sooo sad after all.
Another great book by Susan! This is the final story in the Silverstone series and one I have been waiting for. "Gramps" is the oldest of this crew (hence his name) and saves the one that got away (Cassidy) from a terrible situation. What I loved about this book is the story rhythm you can always count on with Susan, a little boy who is not traditional, and a tough alpha male who loves him as he is. I also loved an epilogue that tied it all together. Another great story by Susan!
Leo "Gramps" heads with his team to Jamaica to rescue Cassidy and her son from a drug lord. Liked this one, as I have read the others in the series, and really liked the ending where you see 2 years, 5 years, 10 years and 20 years into the future of the couples and their kids. Would highly recommend but suggest reading the full series to get the most out of it.
A Silverstone Legacy🤩
Trusting Cassidy is the final book in the Silverstone series and boy what a way to finish the series - which in my mind is a legacy all to itself❣️
Cassidy and her son Mario are living in Jamaica but when she realises that she’s under the thumb of a drug dealer and essentially being held prisoner, Cassidy doesn’t know what to do. Over time things start to change and she realises she has to do something….so she secretly sends letters to the FBI in the US asking for help. When Leo aka Gramps shows up, Cassidy isn’t sure he’s the man she remembers and if he’s there to help her🤷♀️
A wonderful story that I absolutely loved and did not want to put down😍 I am sad to see the end of this series as I really loved all the characters but I’m hoping that some of the SAR characters we meet briefly in this book will form part of a new series….perhaps?
I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️
You hate to see this series end, but what an ending. Gramps is the last to finally get his HEA and the girl that got away when he was 18 and she was 15. Now they are in their 40's and Gramps is hope this will be their last mission. Which is to rescue Cassidy and her son when they are held by a drug kingpin while in Jamaica. Plenty of action and second chances. Loved the epilogues where the author takes you several years ahead for each couple and their children where they are and what they are doing and still very much in love.
I was so excited to start this book and then I realized it was the series finale and I was sad…… but then, near about the end, I saw where we were going next and I was excited again! Gramps (Leo) is as solid as they come but realizing Cassidy is in danger, whenever Cassidy is in trouble, makes this calm man lose his cool. Cassidy is understandably a little doubtful of her judgment but Leo wins her over one moment and action at a time. Cassidy is also riddled with the great anchor, mother’s guilt, but her son Marco helps her move past that, along with affirmations from Leo.
Smooth sailing for a new life is interrupted and those moments had me in tears, then at one moment, (way to keep us lingering) sobbing. Things do wrap up and our couple get the HEA that was 25 years in the making. The epilogue though, that had all the happy moments, as we get to see each of our four couples 5, 10, 15, and 20 years in the future. What a wonderful way to say goodbye to these characters we have come to know and love over the series <3
