Instantaneously, the characters of this book came to life through this audiobook- Joanne Froggart’s narration was electric and personified the steely grit of Kim’s plight to discover what happened to her daughter. Sophie’s, Kim’s and Tullulah’s POVs ran in tandem, albeit in contrasting time periods; shifting from 2017 to 2018.

From 20% onwards I was hooked and fully invested in this mysterious, brooding storyline... where did Zach and Lulah disappear to? The Woods? The Dark place? Moreover, what does Scarlet Jacques know and what attributed to her sudden fall from grace and entitled superiority?

This book is tense, steadily building momentum until the unanticipated crescendo. Plenty of original concepts and an intriguing use of time and varying narratives. A sensational thriller, worthy of five, shiny gold stars!

This is a slow burning, tension building thriller which tells the story of missing 19 year old Tallulah and her boyfriend Zack.

The story is told from multiple points of view with three timelines so theoretically should be confusing, but Jewell has created a well laid out plot which leaves you wondering but not confused.

There are plenty of characters you're going to dislike within this book, I particularly despised Scarlett. In total contrast, my heart broke for poor Tallulah, even if she was a bit irritating at times. Along with Tallulah and Scarlett, there are some really well fleshed out characters and others you're left curious to find out more about.

Towards the end of the book the pace really picks up and this was when my interest began to peak. There are some nice twists thrown in, some you may expect, others not so much.

I switched between listening to this on the audiobook and reading the eBook and found both really good. In the eBook the narrator really portrays the light and shade of the characters, however I felt I got through the eBook faster than I was listening to the audio.

Overall this was an enjoyable thriller with an interesting plot and some good characters but I felt it a little too slow-burning and drawn out at times. 3.5 rounded to a 4

Combine Lisa Jewell’s story with Joanne Froggatt as a narrator then you’ve got one hell of an audiobook. Joanne”s use of her voice gives each character their own personality and brings the story to life.
The book is cleverly written and a plot that keeps you gripped. I can certainly recommend this book to anyone.

This was my first audio book and I was a bit concerned it wouldn't have the same impact as reading a hard copy but within a couple of chapters my concerns had vanished and I was absolutely hooked. I listened to the book on many different occasions over the few days it took me to listen to it all. It became my ideal companion whilst I was doing housework and sitting at my desk working.

This is a slow burner of a thriller which can sometimes make for a bit of a slow & boring read but not in this case. The dual timelines flow brilliantly and you can feel the tension building up all throughout the story and then all of a sudden it picks up pace and races towards the end in a big explosion of emotions and heart racing moments.
The audiobook is brilliantly narrated by Joanne Froggatt who shows what an amazing actress she is with her portrayal of all the different characters. The way she used her voice to differentiate each character was first class and listening to the story rather than reading it really helped me connect with it all. At times I actually felt like I was there and could even picture what the locations and the characters looked like.  The book has an underlying theme of controlling relationships which connect a lot of the characters and is superbly written and handled sensitively.

I was totally blown away by The Night She Disappeared and will be recommending it to everyone I know.  Thank you Lisa Jewell for such an awesome book.

Joanne Froggatt is a BRILLIANT narrator and helps the story come to life!

The story takes place over multiple timelines and from various points of view, so as an audiobook this can be tricky to follow in places; but the story is so engaging that it makes up for any confusion with time.

Thrilling page turner that I was so grateful to read!

I’m a bit of a late comer to the Lisa Jewell party I must confess. I’ve recently read The Family Upstairs’ and would rate it as one of the best books I have devoured in a while. When her latest offering popped up as an ARC audiobook I didn’t hesitate.
The audiobook is flawlessly narrated by Joanne Frogatt. The novel introduces Kim who is a young grandmother who lives with her daughter Tallulah, grandson Noah and Tallulah’s boyfriend Zac. When Tallulah and Zac fail to return from a night out Kim instinctively knows something has happened to them. Lisa Jewell skilfully then relates what has happened through a series of flashbacks from Tallulah’s perspective.
This book really has it all, twists and turns that keep you guessing and believable characters. Highly recommended.

This book was insane. I was thinking about it when I wasn’t listening to it and I was trying to listen to it at every opportunity I had. The story was gripping and I couldn’t put it down. Like with all of Lisa Jewell books, the suspense is high and the guessing game starts. I literally did not know what was going to happen until the very end. The ending was so unpredictable, I did enjoy the ending though.

I found all of the resolution happened in the last 25% in the book, but saying that, the other 75% was very interesting and intriguing. I love the world building in this book, it was such a unique situation. The chapters were alternating between characters and past and present, this was very interesting as we learnt small amounts out at a time which held the suspense. I was wondering from the beginning what was going to happen.

I loved all the characters in this book. They were all so interesting and I loved their personalities. My favourite character has to be Tallulah, I loved how she was read and the voice she was given.

I listened to this as an audiobook. It was narrated by Joanne Froggart, I LOVED he narrating the book. I found her voice to be a perfect fit for this book. I really enjoyed how Joanne voiced the characters, she made it so easy to listen to the book. Her voice drew me into the book even more, I would love to read more books narrated by Joanne.

Lisa Jewell never disappoints me, if I need a good thriller I can always rely on her. The Night She Disappeared is no different, it follows Sophie who moves to Surrey to be with her Headmaster boyfriend and Kim whose daughter and son in law went missing leaving her to care for their young child. Jewell places a lot of doubt in the reader's mind about characters and gives you some insight into their lives prior to going missing without revealing all. Slow burn but I enjoyed it as always.

Audio narration was really good!

A young couple go missing one night leaving their baby with Grandma, this is the story of what happened to them and pricing together the events at mysterious Dark Place. The book goes from current setting back and forth as it builds the full picture, the last 25% of the book I just could not put down. Good plot and narration. Thank you #NetGalley for the audiobook to review.

‘The Night She Disappeared’ confirmed for me that when it comes to psychological fiction Lisa Jewell can do no wrong!!

The plot feels original and narration of the audiobook is superb, making it a riveting listen.

Tallulah Murray, teenage mum, social work student and daughter of Kim mysteriously disappears one night alongside her boyfriend Zach. Kim, understandably distraught, finds herself quite literally holding the baby and takes up amateur sleuthing to uncover the truth behind what happened that night.

This is one of those books where a number of different narratives intersect to tell the story, all of whom have gripping stories of their own.

As we’d expect from a good work of psychology fiction we are hit with a twist or 2!

Lisa Jewell’s newest babe, The Night She Disappeared, is one of her best. Young mum, Talulah, and her controlling boyfriend have disappeared after a party at an old manor house. A year later, writer Sophie finds an engagement ring buried beneath an ominous sign that says ‘dig here’.

The characters in this book are so good! I felt hugely attached to so many of them, I particularly enjoyed the rich, flaky, beautiful Scarlet. If you liked Invisible Girl by the author, I think you’ll love this one too. Definitely one for audio. The audiobook is just brilliantly narrated by Joanne Froggatt. Everyone has a unique voice. I especially enjoyed the innocence portrayed in Talulah.

I was gripped right from the very beginning of this. Absolutely chilling and such a great read. Works great as an audiobook

I liked this book from Lisa Jewell. It’s a good mystery that had me gripped, I couldn’t put it down. There’s multiple points of view and multiple timelines. I liked the twists and that she kept you guessing, however I did guess the ending about half way through but it was still enjoyable.

I am a huge fan of Lisa Jewell's writing so i was very excited to listen to The Night She Disappeared. Joanne Froggatt does an amazing job narrating the audiobook- she narrates in a range of different accents and makes a clear differentiation between the various characters. This is a novel told in 2 timelines of 2017 and 2018 telling of the disappearance of 19 year old Tallulah and her boyfriend Zac. I loved the synopsis but for me the novel didn't live up to Jewell's best work. This was partly due to the dual timelines not working well for me on audio but I also felt the novel lacked pace and suspense and I didn't feel overly invested.
Sadly a 3.5 rating which I've rounded up to 4 stars for the narration.

My first Lisa Jewell and yes please to more of the same’ I have found thrillers to be the ultimate literary distraction right now and the minute I started listening to The Night She Disappeared I was completely hooked.
Kim lives with her daughter, Tallulah (what a wonderful name), her boyfriend Zack and their baby, Noah. Tallulah is a young Mum, juggling parenting duties whilst trying to study to be a social worker. Zack has dreams of buying his little family their own home. Kim props them all up. One night Zack and Tallulah go for a night out and never return. A year on and there are no clues to their disappearance. Sophie. a writer moves into the neighbourhood and finds a sign saying Dig Here..
Joanna froggatt was exceptional as the narrator - she manages the various voices, tones and accents capably, moving seamlessly between characters. In particular her voicing of Kim draws out the desperation and heartache of a mother who has lost her beloved daughter. Froggatt has now been added to my top three narrators.
This is a compulsive read, the tension is sustained throughout the story and at just the right level of frustration- frustration at the police who are under resourced and fairly useless, frustration at the protagonists who are clearly holding back. The desperation to find out what had happened to a girl who has literally disappeared takes hold of you and does not let go. Absolutely thrilling! I can always count on Lisa Jewell to deliver a cracking psychological thriller/domestic noir. I found her latest book almost impossible to put down. So in order to avoid spoilers I won’t say too much about the plot.

The story is set primarily in Upfield Common, a picturesque Surrey village, and emerges through two timelines separated by fourteen months. In June 2017 Tallulah, a teenage mum, heads out on a date leaving her baby son at home with her mother, Kim. Yet when Kim wakes in the early hours she discovers that Tallulah has not come home.

Kim learns from Tallulah’s friends that she and her boyfriend, Zach, were last seen heading to a pool party at a house in the nearby woods called Dark Place. Yet neither Tallulah and Zach return. There is some investigation by the police but the case quickly goes cold.

In August 2018: Sophie Beck is walking in the woods behind Maypole House, the private boarding school in the Surrey hills where her boyfriend has just started as head-teacher. She sees a sign nailed to a fence: ‘Dig Here’. Sophie is a writer of cosy mysteries and cannot ignore such an invitation. What she uncovers throws light on the missing teenagers.

The structure of the narrative does demand close attention to avoid confusion even though each chapter heading states the date. This is especially so when Kim appears in both timelines. I do feel that the audiobook edition helped with this as it was clearly announced at the start of each chapter.

With respect to the audiobook, Joanne Froggatt is an actor who I fell in love with for her portrayal of Anna Bates on ‘Downton Abbey’. She hasn’t narrated many audiobooks to date and so it was a treat to have her as the reader of this novel. Her voice was like honey to my ears, very soft yet clear and powerful. It really was a wonderful aural experience.

Overall, I feel that ‘The Night She Disappeared’ will not only prove a success with existing fans of Lisa Jewell but also win her enthusiastic new readers.

Within the sub genre of psychological thrillers/mysteries, this novel ticks all my boxes and so happy to recommend.

The Night She Disappeared was a book that I listened to and thought it was simply fantastic. The narrator of the book was an absolute pleasure to listen to. It was a slow burn of a read at times but I think that it suited the book. I loved the way the story was told in the different timelines, I really can’t recommend this book highly enough..

This was an interesting storyline. I was intrigued from the get go. It’s told from multiple timelines which I love as I feel I’m getting fed the information from the beginning and the end and it’ll all come together when it meets in the middle. It was a slow burner and at times I felt it was a bit drawn out but it did offer up some great twists and turns. Totally could identify with Kim’s character as I think anyone with kids would. Some characters were truly unlikeable but that’s down to the authors great way of writing them. The narrator really suited this storyline and I could totally identify between the characters which is always a plus. Would recommend this listen.

Review of the audiobook narrated by Joanne Froggatt, known for her Downton Abbey fame!
The narration was great, Froggatt captured the tension and drama perfectly.
This was a mixed bag for me, I was immediately drawn into the story of Kim and Tallulah, and then Sophie in the later timeline. It was a gripping and captivating start and I was so intrigued to see where the book would take me.
The dual timeline was great at first, but in the second half of the audiobook I began to lose track. There were more characters introduced that I forgot their role in the story, and although I enjoyed the ending I did have to keep rewinding it to follow what was happening.
I definitely enjoyed this more than Jewell's previous book and I would definitely recommend it to thriller fans!
