A quick, light, froth of a Christmas story. Quite formulaic in a Mills and Boon sort of a way, but entertaining enough for what it is. Family secrets, misunderstandings and Sweden combine to make the perfect Christmas.

This was such an enjoyable read again from Sarah Morgan.
Set in Lapland It immediately provides the Christmas feeling and the importance on nature and it’s impact on emotions is clear in the authors writing.
There is romance in this but there is so many more layers - family, marriage, sisterhood, friendships, lovers, parents and things not said or said in situations where we as humans question motives and reasons.
I thought this was one of her best books - setting was superb, characters were strong and I felt I knew them well and the storyline wove a family drama which gave me all the Christmas vibes I was looking for.
Thanks the the author, publisher and NetGalley for a gifted copy of this in return for an honest review.
A Christmas tale which will give you all you need in a Xmas read.

The Christmas Escape is just that, a snowy escape to Lapland, it is well written and draws you in from the first page.

Robyn left England many years ago after a falling out with her sister & lives in Lapland, she receives an email from her niece Christy who is reaching out, the last time Robyn saw her was Christmas when Christy was 3 years old.

Christy lives with her husband Seb & daughter Holly, she likes things in order & things are certainly not panning out as planned

Alix is Christys best friend since childhood, single, driving her career forward & quite happy with her life - or is she?

Cue & story of relationships, friendship, love & facing demons from the past, all set against the backdrop of a snowy Lapland & lovely cosy spa resort & chalets,

This was my first Sarah Morgan & it won’t be the last! I’ve already had a look to see what’s in her back catalogue!

Thank you to netgalley & the publisher HQ for an ARC of this book.

Christy and Alix have been friends forever but things are strained between them due to the things they couldn't say. Christy plans a christmas in lapland to meet her long lost aunt. She wants to know what kept her mother away from her sister and why. However first she needs to sort out her marriage so she sends Alix on ahead with her daughter and Zac her husbands best friend. The person Alix has been avoiding for so long. How will they all get through this.

Oh the setting in this is amazing. I want to go and see the northern lights too. This was a lovely festive read. It deals with some issues and handles them well. Its nice to see a family finding a way through their flaws to the heart of life. The plot was steady building to a well thought out ending. I did really enjoy the ending especially between Alix and Christy. This is at heart a story of the many forms of love from family to friends to partners. I really liked that. Alix is likeable and Christy warmed to me once you understood her better. I think Zac was my favourite though. He's just so lovely. A brilliant festive read as expected from Sarah Morgan.

There were moments when I really realted to Alix.. Shes fierce, loyal and completly independant. Really the story is about her best friend Christy and her desire to have a perfect family life. She has always wanted a cottage in the country, a family and everything just so. Life is throwing her some curve balls thats shes struggling to handle including martial challenges.
Alix's life seems to be going great until she ends up doing a massive favour for Christy.

The story really comes alive with the magic of christmas, exploring lapland and capturing just how romantic a winter wonderland can be

WhAt better place to escape to than the Arctic Circle to enjoy Christmas and cement family relationships? Sarah Morgan brings alive the depth of cold in the freezing temperatures peppered with the warmth of family tinged with frosty atmosphere from time to time. A story of complex relationships worked out at a crucial time of year in a wonderful place.

Wow! definitely a feel good Christmas novel. What's not to like? The relationships between Christy, Seb, Alix and Zac.... Not to mention Christy and Sebs daughter Holly, so complicated, but understandable and relatable. Christmas in Lapland seeing the Aurora and the snow in log cabins....... Christmas magic makes it all the more atmospheric!
I would love to see this as a Christmas film and love a what happens next novel/novella.

Christy loves a list, she also strives to be in the know and in control at all times. But when her husband suddenly tells her he can’t come on their family trip to Lapland she becomes suspicious that he’s back to his playboy days. Enter Alex, Christys best friend, single and unattached she is given responsibility of Holly (Christy and Sebs young daughter) and with the help of Zak, Sebs best friend they take Holly to Lapland. What follows is a hilarious and heartwarming story of love, friendship and family.
This book was another perfect festive read by Sarah Morgan and the writing was truly brilliant as always.
Thanks for sharing and allowing me to read, I loved it!

Christmas is a control freak; a habit she learnt from her late mother Elizabeth. She us married to Seb and they have a young daughter, Holly. See used to be a bit of a player, has marriage changed him?
Alix is Christy's best friend, a successful business woman who thinks that Seb isn't right for her friend. Alix had a difficult childhood and thinks she can't do relationships and commitment.
Christy has recently contacted her Aunt Robin who lives in Arctic Lapland. Robin and Elizabeth were estranged but Christy doesn't know why and has no memory of her aunt.
Add in Seb's best friend Zac and you have the full cast.
I enjoyed the story but felt it was too repetitive. We kept being reminded of Christy and Alix's problems, the fact that they are more like sisters and why their friendship is so close. While this was important it was mentioned too often for me.

Such a beautiful and heartwarming story. It just makes you want to head off to Lapland. The relationships between the characters are spot on and as you navigate the story you feel like you are part of the cast. Beautiful description, wonderful characters, a true heartwarming Christmas read.

My thanks to netgally for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review, which I freely give.

This is a beautiful story. Friendships, relationships and secrets all intertwine in this story. Christy married to Seb have a young daughter Holly and they have been invited to spend Christmas in Lapland with her Aunt Robyn, the invite also includes Alix her long standing friend. Christy's mother had fell out with her sister Robyn years before and she did not know why. Just before they were due to leave for Lapland Seb tells Christy he can not go on the date booked and would follow later. Christy found an email to Seb from another women. Christy asked Alix to take Holly so she would not be disappointed. Alix then found out that Seb's friend Zac would be going. Will it be a Christmas from hell or one to remember ?

Plenty of secrets and memories come out. Plus a trip to see the Northern lights. The description of them were wonderful, which I myself will see next year.

This is a lovely read and can recommend.

I adored this book absolutely amazing. You have lapland and snow what more could you possibly need.
I loved all the characters and it made me laugh out loud at times with 2 people who don't get on trying to look after 1 child. This book is perfect for Christmas.

Another classic Christmas book from Sarah Morgan!
Complex relationships, family, friends, healing and love, its all there, with snow and a bit of Christmas magic.
Alix and Christy have been friends since they were young girls, but has life driven them apart, and can a long dreamed for holiday heal the rifts between family and friends?
Immensely enjoyable, easy reading, highly recommended.
Thank you to NetGalley for the early read

I love a festive Christmas read from Sarah Morgan and this book hit the spot. When a crisis has to be faced, difficult decisions have to be made. Family versus friendship are put to the test. Can the Northern Lights provide some magic and make everyone's Christmas? A thoroughly enjoyable read to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Not a word I would normally use to describe a book however Gorgeous is the most appropriate.
The characters are Christy, her husbands Seb and their daughter Holly, Alix (good friend of Christy), Zac (good friend of Seb)
Christy is keen to uncover some of her own family’s secrets which leads her to find out some home truths she hadn’t banked on.
Holly is a fun character who is described beautifully for that age group.

I especially liked the way all the adults questioned their own personalities and characters. I think also that the author has great insight to various personalities. Loved it and well worthy of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I absolutely love Sarah Morgan's books, especially her Christmas ones. I always know that I am in for a festive treat.
This book is set in Lapland, which is a place where I have always wanted to visit. The descriptions were very detailed and I could picture it perfectly in my mind.
There were complex relationships and friendships which added drama and left me wondering what the secrets were. There were many threads and characters, but they all eventually pulled together after a few twists and turns.
This is storytelling at its very best. Put aside some quiet time and curl up and read this fantastic heartwarming and enjoyable book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC.

It was supposed to be Christy’s perfect escape - a much longed for, dream trip to Lapland for Christmas with her family and life long friend, Alix. But as a crisis looms over her marriage, Christy must forgo the trip as planned and spend some much needed time alone with her husband.

The plan? Alix will take Christy’s daughter to Lapland alone.

Alix will do anything for Christy, but her plan to save Christmas might just put their friendship to the test. Especially when Christy reveals, her husbands best friend Zac will be accompanying them.

As secrets unravel and romance blossoms under the spectacle of the Northern Lights can Christy and Alix find the courage to make this the best Christmas escape?

Sarah Morgan has such a talent for creating atmospheric and enchanting backdrops for her stories, and in this latest offering Sweden proves to be no less than perfect!

What could be more festive than snowball fights, sled rides and searching for the quintessential Christmas tree? Throw in some wonderful characters, some laugh out loud moments and the occasional saucy moment and you have the ultimate Christmas novel.

I raced through this book, as I do with all Morgan’s titles, and enjoyed every single page until I got to the end where I was hit with disappointment and regret that I hadn’t savoured it a little more.

Whilst there is some romance, this is not at the forefront of the story. It is more focussed on the complexities and shifting dynamics of friendship and families, and shows the hard realities of miscommunication.

This is a must for any reader looking for some Christmas cheer and I can’t recommend it enough for the festive season!

Another great Christmasy book from Sarah Morgan. It took me a while to get used to the characters and the fact the storyline didn't seem to go where I thought it was heading to - but once I got over those two, I was fully on board and didn't want to put the book down until I'd finished.

This is a story that focuses on relationships, between couples and friends. On how they change as new people come into their lives and the effect it has on an existing relationship. It also reflects on the effect of their upbringing and the influence of their parents. It illustrates the need for communication. What I loved about the story was the setting, it was just right for the season. The couples involved with the story all have their problems that are eventually worked through. There is also a mystery of what went wrong in the past with Christy’s mother and aunt. This was an enjoyable read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
