You can't go wrong with a novel by Sarah Morgan and this book is well written and you will want to read it. This has a real Christmas feel to it especially as it takes you to Lapland. Get your own copy, I have ordered mine plus some for gifts. Very well worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC.
Sarah Morgan never disappoints with a multi layered story with multi layered relationships. Estranged family members, friends, husband and wife. The entwined lives become familiar and personal to the reader.
Escape to the Artic Circle and enjoy the story. I definitely did.
Absolutely wonderful! This book is set in a magical Arctic resort and is so gorgeous and Christmassy, Northern Lights, sleigh rides et al!
Along with the festive gorgeousness there is a truly wonderful story and as always Sarah Morgan introduces us to some wonderful characters.
Family and friendship is explored and unfolds beautifully, I felt so sad for Christie, Elizabeth and Robyn when details of their family emerged, and I loved Alix, Zac and Seb and the many complications of their relationships, I also loved the evolution of Christie's character.
Beautiful book!
This is definitely a 5-star Christmas-feeling book!
Set mainly in Lapland with snow, the northern lights, dog sledding, snowmen, hot chocolate and lots of emotional drama and romance it's just a perfect book to curl up with on a cold day and definitely gets you in the Christmas mood.
Christy and Seb had a whirlwind romance and married when Christy fell pregnant with Holly and whilst they love each other they've lost their way slightly with all the pressures of real life. Alix (Christy's best friend) and Zac (Seb's best friend) are always around, especially Alix who practically grew up in Christy's house as her parents were the sort that shouldn't have children and were always away with work.
But this year everyone ends up in Lapland to visit Christy's estranged aunt and her husband who own cabins and run a business there. There are lots of secrets flying around - Alix & Zac have unfinished business from years ago, Christy & Seb need to work through a few issues and make time for themselves, and Robyn explains why she is the estranged aunt and Christy's mum (now passed away) cut her out of her life. And of course everyone is trying to keep little Holly occupied as she is a right handful, albeit very cute!
This was just a really lovely story that makes you want to put the Christmas tree up right now and get into the Christmas spirit!
Sarah Morgan delivers another festive snow sprinkled read yet again!
Follow Christy as she plans a festive escape to Lapland for her family, she has thought of and planned every moment.
Join the family as they head to Lapland and take in the snowy sights. A feel good family story about love, friendship, family feuds, marriage and opening up and communicating better.
I now want to go to lapland...if Sarah was a travel agent I would be sold a holiday far too easily!
I don't like Christmas but honestly, I love Sarah's books!
Maybe because they are usually a feel-good read that doesn't involve a lot of Christmas in general. It is more about the people than the festivity in itself and I am here for it!
In this one, we follow three different characters but are related to each other somehow. Lots of secrets and things that they haven't said for a long time. Misunderstandings and forgiveness. Quite relatable.
It is all about connection, relationships, friendships and misunderstandings. It was hard to put it down, as usual!
This was an easy read, which had a very predictable storyline. However, the descriptions of Lapland were good and have certainly left me wanting to go there for Christmas. If you enjoy Christmas stories then this book is for you.
If you want a book that makes you feel Christmassy, this is the book for you. I loved it and I am currently stopping myself from booking a holiday to Swedish Lapland, it just sounds perfect.
This book is about Christy, Christy's best friend, Alix and Christy's aunt, Robyn. All 3 woman have got their own secrets from each other but they also have their own issues which they need to deal with. I loved that the story revolved around these woman and you find out so much about them as the book progresses.
Robyn lives in Swedish Lapland with her husband Erik, she has been estranged from her family for decades and then Christy contacts her out of the blue and they arrange a visit over Christmas. Christy finds an email that was for her husband Seb, she is suspicious off this email and decides she needs to stay at home with him to sort things out. She arranges for her best friend Alix to take her daughter Holly to Lapland, what Alix doesn't realise is that Seb's' best friend Zac is going too. This does not please Alix at all.
The characters in this book are strong and they all have their own reasons for mistrust. It is sad to see that their issues are causing tensions between them and all you want them to do is work it out. However, magic happens underneath the aurora's and it is just the perfect Christmas story.
Everyone needs this book to get into the Christmas spirit. Thank you to Netgalley, Sarah Morgan and HQ for the eArc in exchange for an honest review
I read The Christmas Escape over a couple of days and it certainly put me in a festive mood. Christy, Seb and their daughter Holly are getting ready to head to Lapland for Christmas to stay with Christy’s Aunt Robyn. They’re being joined by Christy’s best friend Alix. When a crisis occurs, they ask Alix to take Holly to Lapland herself and they’ll follow in a few days time. Alix will do anything for her best friend so eagerly agreed until she finds out her nemesis Zac will also be in Lapland. Will the Arctic temperatures dampen the spark between them?
This is a heartwarming novel with some great characters. It paints a wonderful picture of Swedish Lapland and you can easily imagine the beautiful cabins, crisp snow and romantic dog sled rides. Perfect for curling up with a hot chocolate and getting into the festive spirit. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.
I thought this was a great easy to read, lighthearted Christmas novel. Christy and Alix are best friends, and due to spend Christmas in Lapland with Christy’s mysterious aunt. But as cracks start to appear in Christy’s marriage, Alix finds herself making the journey with Christy’s daughter and Seb, a very annoying best man. What could possibly go wrong?
Lots of fabulous evocative descriptions which made me want to visit, and certainly got me in the mood for Christmas this year!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ArC in exchange for my honest review.
I was introduced to Sarah Morgan's books at the time through the book ‘Sleepless in Manhattan’, the first part of the series 'From Manhattan with love'. Very nice books with not too much depth, with those books you could still notice that she wrote bouquet series booklets for years, at least that’s my thoughts. Nowadays she writes two books a year, a Christmas book and a summer book, and I must say that these books have much more depth, of course there is also a spontaneous and sensual love affair but it is of secondary importance to the story.
This story is about two young women who have been friends for years and the aunt of one of the two. The often fairly long chapters are written alternately from the perspective of the three different people. Christy, who always wants to do everything perfectly, has a marital crisis that she wants to solve at any cost. She therefore sends her friend Alix with her young daughter Holly to her aunt in Lapland for them to join later. Her husband Seb thinks it's a big responsibility for Alix and asks his friend Zac to come along. Alix does not really like this when she hears about it, Zac on the other hand…
Arriving in Lapland it turns out that they have to sleep together in the chalet where Christy & Seb will be staying. Fortunately there is a couch because Alix does not want to know anything from Zac, you slowly hear why she does not want to know anything from Zac. You will also find out about the history of Christy and why Christy is such a perfectionist, and how the relationship with the aunt, Robyn, is. Robyn is the sister of Christy's deceased mother. There is a lot of drama in their history but well, there is sometimes in reality too. Every now and then I was only a little annoyed by Christy who wanted to do and arrange everything perfectly, that's not always possible. The arctic environment was pleasantly described and for that reason alone it is a perfect Christmas read.

Another great book from Sarah and a great winter storyline. Following the lives of Christy, Seb and their daughter Holly with their friends Zac and Alix the story, set in the lead up to Christmas, looks at their different relationships but ends with Christmas. If you’ve read any of Sarah’s books you’ll love this one and if you haven’t I would highly recommend this one.
DNF at 40%
I read a LOT of Christmas books, and Sarah Morgan's one more for Christmas was one of my top Christmas reads of 2020 but I just found this VERY dry. I couldn't relate to any of the characters and I just thought the story lines weren't going anywhere. There was no anticipation or excitement and so after slogging my way to 40% I decided it was time to let this one go.
This was one of the best Christmas novels I've ever read. When Christy and Seb and their daughter Holly decide to spend the holidays at her estranged Aunts place in the Swedish lapland things dont go to plan and Holly ends up going for a few days with Christy's best friend Alix and Zac who have a complicated relationship and being thrown together in the beautiful atmosphere of the artic makes for some interesting reading. When they are finally all together can they all work out their differences .Such a beautiful location and I loved the characters and the Christmas spirit which was a perfect read. A brilliant 5🌟read
This was a delightful story. Christmas in Lapland and ideal time to sort out multiple family and personal problems. The festive season as well as the amazing surroundings certainly made this a Christmas to remember.
Sarah Morgan knows how to write a good christmas story. Her descriptive words set the scene so the reader can imagine themselves in Lapland. She writes flawed characters that make the reader root for things to work out. Christy is a full time wife and mum living in her dream cottage. Which is slowly becoming a nightmare. Looking forward to escaping on holiday to Lapland with her husband and daughter. Christy is in for a shock when she accidently knocks the mouse on her husbands computer. She finds a message to her husband from a woman she doesnt know. Immediately thinking Seb is cheating she confronts him. Only to find he has lost his job, Christy is reeling. Why didn't he tell her? Whats that fact say about the state of their marriage? Christy asks her best friend to go on ahead with her daughter and Sebs friend Zac. Leaving them to talk things through. Alix is best friends with Christy, lately she has been feeling distant from Christy. She knows something is wrong and is upset that Christy isnt confiding in her. She agrees to take Holly on ahead and her parents will join them in a few days. When she finds out Sebs best friend Alix will be joining them she isnt happy. The Christmas Escape gives you two different romances to enjoy. Along with a reunited family for Christy and Robyn. A really enjoyable read that will leave you feeling festive. Highly recommended for fans of chick lit.
Reading a Sarah Morgan Christmas story is as much of a tradition for me as baking the Christmas cake in the halfterm holidays. A Christmas escape is again a wonderful mix of family, relationships and a beautiful setting.
Christy and Alix are so different in character but are so similar in their worries about not being enough in their own lives. Their friendship is the main string of the story and I loved seeing the intricacies of the relationship and flaws in each of the women come through as we spend time with each of them. Again Sarah Morgan has excelled at writing such detailed and complex relationships and I loved both Christy and Alix completely.
Love is more than just romance, it’s family
When the world was pulling me in all directions, reading Sarah Morgan’s latest release, The Christmas Escape was the perfect escape for a few hours a night.
From the outside looking in, both Christy and Alix have different but perfect lives. Christy, with her husband Seb and young daughter Holly, a home in the country and a Christmas holiday to look forward to in Lapland. Alix, Christy’s best friend, will be joining them after a prestigious award ceremony in New York for her work. But nothing is ever perfect and when Christy asks her friend to travel alone with her daughter cracks start to appear.
Sarah Morgan captures the fears and anxiety of both woman with her dual narrative story. As Alix, Holly and Zac, the man Alix has been actively avoiding for five years, leave for Christy’s long lost aunt’s Lapland resort, she is filled with doubts, she can’t be responsible for a young, rambunctious, yet utterly adorable child. To make matters worse, Alix is concerned about what could be so important for Christy remain behind as she takes Holly to the aunt she has never met before.
Christy feels as if her world is falling apart, her marriage is starting to show cracks, her house is falling down and she can’t help but silently blame her best friend for the way is she feeling.
It is not an easy feat to write about the flaws in the closest of friendships without wanting to take a side, but Sarah manages to make you feel for both women, their own preconceptions, and ignorance clouding their view when they act on instinct without looking deeper.
Unusually for contemporary fiction this book is more about the bond of friendship between two women, as if the men in their lives are solely there to help point them back towards each other.
This is a truly delightful read, with Holly bringing the humour, don’t get caught kissing, as in her eyes that is tantamount to a proposal. Robyn, Christy’s aunt brings depth to the story and explains a lot about how Christy has led her life and the effect that has had on those she loves most.
I give #TheChristmasEscape 5 stars and thank @sarahMorgan, @HQStories and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this wonderful festive story.
Ah the Queen of a Christmas romance is back, and once more delivers in auroras!
Set to stunning backdrop of Swedish Lapland this is a story of friendship, of hidden family secrets, of various relationships and also of new beginnings.
And it really is a magical week in Lapland that changes the lives of all the main characters.
I was enchanted from the first few pages and could really picture everything that was happening very vividly.
Sarah Morgan has a way of describing snowy scenes and winter activities that make you want to ignore your own life and just jump into the pages of the book.
I devoured this latest book in only a few hours while poolside, on the hottest day of my holiday, and it did slightly cool me off, reading about such wintery activities, while completely absorbing me within the pages, which I was reading happily.
I couldn't get enough of this book, and already gutted that I'll have to wait ages for the next Sarah Morgan release, as I love her books so much.
From dog sledding to the Northern Lights, from estranged long lost aunts to a fractured friendship, this book has it all and more and is well worth reading if you enjoy a fabulous story.
Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
A perfect Christmassy read over the festive season. Delightfully romantically set in Lapland surrounded by snow and stars with cosy cabins and hot chocolate with wonderful descriptions thereof. The story is told from the perspective of the three main characters, Christy and Alix plus the odd contribution from Robyn. I quite liked the characters but would have liked more from Robyn and less of Alix who, even with her issues, seemed to irritate me somewhat managing to be incredibly self centred turning everything back to herself All the main characters have the issues typically centred around non-communication and misunderstandings which are mostly resolved during the magical Christmas period.. A definite read to get in the festive spirit.
