More about relationships, especially between Christy and Seb, Christy and Ali's, Ali's and Zac, Christy and Robyn and a bouncy four year old. A little bit of a Christmas story in Lapland, but it is all about fixing relationships
Swedish Lapland, Northern Lights....what more could you need to summon up a lovely Christmassy story. Sarah Morgan's books are always so well researched and the descriptions of the region were wonderful. Thank you for a review copy of the book which was sosuitable for this time of year.
Loved this feel good, cosy Christmas read. Perfect reading for the cold winter nights in the run up to Christmas. Thank you to NetGallery for letting me read pre release.
Another amazing read from Sarah Morgan. She just cements herself in the ‘I need to read every single book’ category for me. Brilliant.
Nobody does Christmas like Sarah Morgan! This latest festive release is another must-read with all of the fabulous Sarah Morgan elements: romance, lust, hurt, betrayal, food, festivities and love.
All in all a good read, and a good choice of book to get you in the Christmas mood. I did feel exasperated at times with Alix and Christie, Christie in particular. Lovely setting - Swedish Lapland - and I appreciated the scenic descriptions. The story held my attention throughout. I thought the male characters were great (and long suffering). Robin was also lovely. Although this book does have some romance in it, it's more about friendship. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A romantic tale of the ups and downs of relationships.
Alix and Christy, life-long friends from the age of 8 years, feel shifts in their relationship after Christy falls pregnant quickly into a relationship, then gets married. The hidden taboos or what close sister like friends should discuss about their relationships with their partners and with each other, and where one fits in when the other gets married. Things not said, the feelings of a friendship ruined.
Then there are the backstories of the two women; Alix, daughter to two academics who did not really have time for her, giving her a belief she is rubbish at relationships so just has one night stands, and then Christy, organised, on top of it all, fulfilling her mother’s standards in life…. perfect, but with a hidden family secret surrounding her aunt Robyn and the pressures of her perfect home life, after her mother’s death.
The women go out to Lapland on a Christmas holiday discovering themselves, each other, and to unravel family secrets,
I absolutely loved this book. It was fun, light, easy to read, fluffy and I adored the characters! Just what I needed to read, typical Sarah Morgan fluff. Would definitely recommend!
Let the Christmas season begin!
There isn’t a better way to start the Christmas season but by reading amazing, cosy Christmas story.
We all know Sarah Morgan is the queen of romantic comedies and she never disappoints me.
I think this is my favourite Sarah’s book so far. I was supposed to read it as a part of HQ Blogger book tour but I had a trouble downloading it from Netgalley. I decided to get an audiobook and it was the best decision ever.
The Christmas Escape is set in Lapland, which was a great idea. I loved the snowy atmosphere of the place.
The characters were loveable as usual and if course there was a pet! The dog was called Suka and I was laughing hysterically each time the name was mentioned.
“Suka” just like the word “bitch” in English means “a female dog” and it’s also being used as an insult. I think it’s rather interesting choice of name. 😆
One of the things I mostly love about Sarah Morgan’s book is a great humour. I’m sure I’ve burnt thousands of calories just by laughing while listening to the story.
This book is a must read!
A charming romance set at Christmas but involving all the main characters through the years. It starts with Christy and her best friend Alix. We learn how these two women grew up with certain expectations. Holly, Christy's daughter is the glue that his entire together as they head of to Lapland for a Christmas adventure.
This book is set with the backdrop of Swedish Lapland at Christmas time, and is a story of friendship and family secrets as well as romance.
The book draws you in right at the beginning and is a very enjoyable Christmas read. The author has become a favourite if mine for this genre, so much so, that I have to read everyone of her books as soon as they are published.
Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this read.
Sarah Morgan's style of writing makes reading her books a pleasure and this was no exception. It tells the story of two people's friendship and the stress of making a wrong comment based on, well that would be telling. But it does describe wonderfully what can happen when efforts are made to mend and move forwards.
It has the romance of Christmas, Lapland and childish enthusiasm running through it under the surface.
Christmas in a cosy log cabin in the snow with the Northern lights, what more could you want ?
A lovely festive read with enough drama to keep you reading
Exactly as the title describes, a perfect (pre) Christmas escape.
The Christmas Escape follows Christy who has booked the trip of a lifetime to Lapland to visit her estranged Aunt with her husband and daughter. What was supposed to be a idyllic holiday takes a turn for the worst with a marital crisis, tensions with her life long best friend and family secrets being revealed.
Whilst this book is not a literary masterpiece and there are some questionable elements, I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a few hours of escapism and to forget about the world for a little while.
Sorry but I really couldn't get into this story. Had to give up after about five chapters as I just couldn't engage with the characters.
This book was a fabulous read, the description of the northern lights made me want to nip to Lapland right now. Descriptive and well written I loved every second of this festive book.
The Christmas Escape by Sarah Morgan was just WOW!! Sarah never disappoints with her books and she draws me in instantly. I know not to have other plans when I read her books as I can not put them down and this one was no exception. I loved it!! As the title suggests it’s a Christmas story and it’s set in Lapland. A lovely story of love, friendship and trust. I’m already counting down to Sarah’s next book.
What a romantic, cosy, cute Christmas story.
I have read a few of Sarah Morgan’s books now and I always love them! This one was such a delight to read and I loved every second of it. It had emotional depth and great characters.
The three main females, Christy, Alix and Robyn all had challenges that they were facing and fears about the past and future. The relationships that they had and developed were beautiful to read about, and although I loved the romantic element to this book, the strength of female connections was what made it so special.
We saw a family reconnect, friends learn to maintain a friendship when life changes, and a blossoming romance that was so charming and sweet to read about. All of this takes place in the most beautiful setting too! Sweden, Lapland and Christmas? I wanted to jump on a plane and fly away to this winter wonderland and I was so immersed in the setting and the story!
I highly recommend this book and want to thank HQ Stories and Netgalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review! I then had to go out and buy my mum a copy as I know she will love it.
I love Sarah Morgan's books and I get excited for her newest Christmas one every year as I know I am going to be whisked away to a wintry wonderland.
This one did not disappoint! This year Morgan takes us to Lapland with Alix, Zac, Robyn, Erik, Christy, Seb, and little Holly! It does sound a lot of characters to keep up with but they all have their stories that are intertwined and blend together so well.
Morgan's writing is so laid back and descriptive that I was completely immersed and playing it all out in my head, wishing I could travel to Lapland and be right there in the story.
Families are brought back together, rifts are healed, misunderstandings are solved and Christmas wishes are granted.
I definitely recommend putting this one in your reading list this Christmas season!
I was captivated from start to finish with this wonderful story.
So many interesting characters with their own emotional issues & coming to terms with them all.
It’s one of those stories you just fall into & don’t stop turning the pages till you’ve finished & can sit back with a smile on your face.
We all need a Christmas story like this makes it feel anything is possible and who wouldn’t love a visit to Lapland.
This story brings out the importance of family, friends, love & how we deal with it all.
It’s an idyllic Christmas read with stunning locations & as the title says a Christmas escape .
Thoroughly enjoyed it.
