Set during WW2 Peggy has been let down by her husband although she is expecting their first child. She is evacuated with her twin niece & nephew from London to a vicarage in Yorkshire. Actually this could have been anywhere in the countryside as there is little descriptive writing about the area. I would describe this as a gentle story line, nothing wrong with it just an easy reading story.

The character depth was amazing! Just how far will you go to do the wrong things for the right reasons!
This was one of those books that sucked me in from the beginning and didn’t let go until I finished!

Although this is the the third book in the evacuee series by Katie King it can easily be read as a stand alone novel.
It is excellently written in an easy style and I found it impossible to put down.
Based on 11 year old twins, Connie and Jessie in 1940, the novel follows the families troubles and fears.
Excellent. I definitely recommend to all who like this genre.
Thanks to #NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review

This is book 3 of the Evacuees and equally as exciting as the other two.
We follow twins Jessie &Connie as they make a home at Tall Trees with Aunt Peggy and her daughter Holly. The twins have some trouble settling in to the new school, making some enemies along the way. This turns out to be quite an eventful book which I really enjoyed and don’t hesitate to recommend.

This is a great series- the third book. Life as an evacuee is explored at the vicarage. Peggy is helping to look after her twin niece and nephew and her own baby daughter alongside issues with her life back in London and keeping working at the cafe whilst her daughter becomes more mobile.
I loved the childrens stories and their struggles with life in a new school . You really feel as though you know the characters and how they settle in together and I can't wait to read more.

This is book three in the series but can quite easily be read as a standalone. The story follows Peggy and her daughter Holly and her sisters two children. They have been evacuated during the war to Harrogate. The story begins with her cheating, soon to be ex, husband returning and ending up in a punch up with the local doctor James. Who Peggy liked, a lot. The story follows the family as they try to settle in life away from London.

A really enjoyable read. I enjoyed the characters and the troubles they found themselves in. I will definitely be looking out for the previous books in the series and I can wait for the next one

The Evacuee War by Katie King is a delightful historical novel that will warm your heart. It is the third book in the Evacuee series but can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed catching up with familiar faces.
The year is 1940 and the place is a village near Harrogate. The reader is in for a real treat as we follow the eleven year old twins Jessie and Connie, and their family and friends.
Being evacuated from London to stay with a vicar and his wife, the children enjoy fresh air, village life and animals. The reader is charmed by the presence of a pet pig and pony.
Peer rivalry at a new school creates problems but there is a creative solution.
The children have big hearts as they think of others who are less fortunate.
An impromptu trip to London and home sees a terrifying air raid. Katie King has perfectly captured the atmosphere of fear with her words. Likewise she has captured the essence of village life, painting a picture with her rich vocabulary.
I absolutely love the Evacuee books. They are perfectly charming, warm and welcoming as people come together as one, celebrating the simple things in life. The Evacuee War is a wonderful read.
I received a free copy of the book from HQ via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Really enjoyed this war time saga with Peggy and her twin niece and nephew who have been evacuated to Harrogate, we follow their journey through the ups and downs of living away from home and the new friends they meet along the way, not all plain sailing but they all pull together to help each other get through the tough times
Looking forward to reading the next in the series
