Yessssss what a cracker

Fresh off the back of me reading The Castaways by the same author I did a little dance when I got accepted to read this ARC of her new novel.

Like every good thriller should, this story comes with mystery, secrets, twists and shocks

The story is told from all six girls POV with each chapter hopping between characters, I loved this because you really got into the heads of each of the characters and got to know them.

I whizzed through this book and it ticked every box. I predict it will be this year's perfect summer thriller ...it makes you want to kick back, reach for a Chianti and some olives and sit in the sunshine!

Six women head to the beautiful island of Aegos, Greece for Lexi's hen party weekend.
Each one has a secret and as the party gets into full swing, resentments start to surface and on the last night everything comes to a head.
The setting sounded beautiful. It makes me long for summer to hurry up and arrive.The sparkling sea, the tavernas and of course the villa with the pool makes it an idyllic place to be.
The six women are very different. I did like Robyn, being a mother I can resonate with having a child how much it changes your life.
I particularly disliked Bella. I found her to be slightly aggressive and in your face. Very much a me, me, me person especially if things weren't going her way.
I liked the element of surprise towards the end as I was not expecting that and they certainly deserved what was coming.

Perfectly plotted with reveal after reveal that kept you guessing right till the end. I felt like I was on a break in balmy Greece with the hen party! Lucy Clarke writes such evocative and thrilling page-turners and One Of The Girls was no exception. I loved it!

Lexi is marrying Ed.. To celebrate she is having hen weekend at a beautiful Greek Villa with five friends. Each come to the break with their own secrets. As the days go on revelations come out. You realise what makes these women tick and how they are connected. As secrets tumble out, an evening comes to a dramatic conclusion and a body lies on the rocks.
I can safely say you will thoroughly enjoy this book. It’s like being a fly on the wall.

I loved her previous book and this one was just up there with it. Loved the fact it was based around a group of women whom all have different relations to each other! Liked the fact the ending wasn’t what I thought it would be! A perfect beach read.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I was hooked from the beginning. I LOVED this book! Never having read any Lucy Clarke novels before, I envisaged the book would be in the category of ''not for me''. Boy was I wrong!
I was so engrossed with the storyline and the characters. I enjoyed the writing which was modern, young, fresh and pacy! The plot was interesting, red herrings and twists and turns kept me reading. I could feel the sun on my face at the Greek villa. The descriptions were very good. The characters were wonderful, liked and disliked in equal measure. I enjoyed this book very much.

This is a story of relationships, male/female, female/female and involves, relationships, love, bereavement, jealousy, loneliness, secrets and lies.

I give a 5 star rating

I have loved all of Lucy Clarke’s books, and One of the Girls was no exception. What a blast! This was a fast-paced and atmospheric psychological study of what makes people tick, and the consequences of our actions - no matter how long ago. A long hen weekend full of friendships and tensions worked perfectly as the device for this story, and I read it in two sittings.

I really enjoyed getting to know the intriguing cast of characters and the multiple viewpoints worked very well. The characterisation of Bella, Lexi, Robyn, Ana, Eleanor and Fen was excellent - Lucy really gets under the skin of her characters, capturing all the little parts that sum up who we are.

One of the best elements for me was the setting; it was so eloquently described that I felt like I was on a Greek island drinking ouzo in the sunshine with my hens, tensions climbing. Lucy has a gift for visual storytelling and really captures the mood of the places she sets her books in; the descriptions sprinkled in are subtle yet amazing, and I can see everything playing out like a movie in my head.

A well deserved 5 stars - I was only sorry it was set over four days and not a week, as I could have read on for hours more.

This is the second book I’ve read by Lucy Clarke and I absolutely loved it. Easy to read and with a great twist. Will definitely be reading the rest of her books! Highly recommend.

A hen weekend on a Greek Island where tensions rise and end in murder - what's not to love?! I don't normally read thrillers or murder mystery genre, but this book was so much more. It really explored the women as individuals and how their identities have changed over the years; perfectly capturing issues around friendship and motherhood whilst the plot keeps turning at a great pace.

This would make a great book club read as I can imagine different personalities would identify and sympathise with one woman over another.

I very much enjoyed this book by Lucy Clark. The premise is not an unfamiliar one however that in no way diminished the pleasure of reading Reading it was a very pleasant and immersive experience. On a hens’s night in a Greek Villa the girls of the title assembled to celebrate are gradually revealed to have darker and deeper past histories. The unravelling of the mysteries is of course the key to the success of this book and I therefore will not spoil the ending which took me by surprise. The characters are Likable but flawed and grab your attention and keep you immersed in the story. I would very much recommend this book to all readers who enjoy a gripping character led mystery.

I absolutely love Lucy's books they are always so gripping, atmospheric and really come to life with the way that she writes. You always feel like you are right in the action of the book and like you know the characters. This is another great book, full of twist and turns and really well written. I was gripped all the way through.

I absolutely loved The Castaways and when I knew that the author had wrote a new book , I couldn't wait to get my hands on it .
Wow it didn't disappoint and I love the fact that Lucy writes of idyllic places that turn very sour when the people and characters get there.
Full of suspense and lot's of twists to the end.
Loved it.

I love Lucy Clarke books. She never let's you down with read after gripping read! This was no exception, and made all the more 'readable' by being set on a perfect Greek island where you could completely escape to! Full of the twists and turns you would expect!

A really gripping read. Each character has a great storyline and your interest is held throughout. I really want to be in Greece. A beautiful ending too. Would definitely make a good holiday read.

I love Lucy Clarke books! She’s the queen of twisty plots and well rounded characters dripping with menace and deception. This story was as brilliant as I expected it would be and I couldn’t put it down. 5 stars although I’d give it 10 if I could!

Packed full of suspense, tension and nail biting drama. This was a great read and a real gem. Would happily recommend

A familiar topic subject that I hoped would hold some surprises unfortunately I found in predictable in parts which slightly spoilt my enjoyment of this read never the less I’m sure this a book that would make a perfect beach read.

I loved Lucy Clarkes last book and was so excited to read this one. I was not disappointed as it was so BRILLIANT! I loved Lexi and her friends who had gone to a Greek Island for her hen weekend . It was a pacy thriller with plenty of twists and turns and not to be missed!

I picked this because I read The Castaways last year and not only did it end up being one of my top reads of the year, but also one of the books I've been recommending to everyone. As soon as I saw Lucy Clarke's new book, One of the Girls, it was a no brainer pick for me.

This engaging thriller is set on the fictional island of Aegos, Greece. We join a group of six ladies with various secrets on Lexi's hen weekend, by the end of which, tensions mount and someone ends up at the bottom of a cliff.

I loved the pace of this book, and how many twists and turns the plot took. Just when you thought you guessed the twist, it wasn't that and it turned everything you thought you knew on its head again. Some secrets were more predictable than others, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as the perfect summer holiday read to everyone. I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into this author's older books, and will be the first in the queue for any new ones!
