Loved this book - quite a few twists, good storyline, characters and set in a lovely sounding fictional Greek island. I would definitely read more books by Lucy Clarke after this.

Really enjoyed this book, good characters who grew during the story, excellent location, a Greek island and you really felt that you were there with them. Then the story, lots of twists and turns and an unexpected ending!

Lucy Clarke has done it again! Without fail, she reels a reader in, wraps them around her chapters and spits them out at the end confused, bereft and utterly amazed by her writing talent. One of the Girls is in development to be on the big screen and this is one of those books that just HAS to play out visually. The setting, the characters, the secrets… Lucy writes beautifully and her books are always a treat. Seeing them come to life will be so spectacular.

It’s all the best bits of a beach read (sun, sea, romance…) with all the gripping bits of a psychological thriller (secrets, murder, tension). Genres collide with this book to create something almost by its own unique definition. The slow start is not a negative – it gives space for getting to know the setting and the characters ready for the big unravelling. You’ll be running on adrenalin by the last few pages!

Honestly Lucy Clarke never disappoints, I don’t even look at the synopsis for her anymore, I just grab it because I know I’ll love it. She’s a phenomenal author. Add this to your summer TBR right now!

This is an unusual book for me and it felt strange to almost be doing it back to front. You usually start with the death and the challenge is to work out who did it……….this book is different……..you know right from the start that someone is going to die…….you don’t know who will die, you don’t know how, you don’t know at whose hands right till the end and that felt quite strange!

Six women go on a hen party to a Greek island, they all have their issues, their agenda’s, their stories to tell and if I had to read a book like this again, I’d have a little notepad at my side, making notes about what we learn about each one as it can be confusing swapping from one to another and remembering all the details when there are six main characters! (Or is that my age kicking in?)

Did I guess who died? No, Did I guess who did it? No, did I guess how? Almost! …………….Did I make predictions that were totally off the mark? - Hell yes! Did I enjoy it? Definitely yes! Way more than I thought I was going to!

I've read and enjoyed all of Lucy's books, and One of the Girls was just as good as all of her others.

As we're whisked away with a group of six, on a hen night to Greece, we're introduced to each character. At first I struggled to get in to my head who was who. But once I got settled in to the story, I was hooked. Each character has their own background story which is just as intriguing. So many twists and turns. It definitely will make a great beach read.

As someone who reads a fair amount of thrillers, there is nothing better than when all the signs point you to certain directions but then you get surprised. While it’s frustrating to think you didn’t see it coming, when it’s done as well as this, you don’t mind.
The book begins with a group of women heading out to Greece for a hen party. I knew someone would end up dead, so spent the early part of the book unravelling the layers to their relationships and working out the precise connections which would act as justification for murder.
Amongst this group of women, there was a definite sense that any one of them could have been a contender…both for victim and killer. Equally confounding and intriguing, I was caught up in the intricacies of their interactions.
Once we knew all the details of exactly how these women were linked, I was convinced it was just a matter of time until matters came to a head. The setting and structuring of this was meticulously planned, unfolding naturally before us.
When our moment finally came, I felt a bit foolish for not even thinking this might be an option…but it makes perfect sense, and actually lent an honesty to some of the other interactions that had felt a little forced at times.
A great read, and I’m grateful to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this prior to publication.

This book was an easy but intriguing read. I can quite often predict how an ending will go but this one definitely managed to surprise me.

Wow what an amazing read from start to finish. Loved the characters, twists you just don’t see coming. This is a must read which I would recommend to anyone.

This book has been all over Instagram and I was experiencing some serious FOMO with it. I was so glad when it was picked for me by the host of one of the challenges. I started reading it Sunday morning, cup of coffee in hand.
I must say, I am on a serious roll with "good books", despite hitting a book slump earlier in the month.
This book oozed tension and suspense.
We meet 6 girls in this book, Lexi, Bella, Ana, Robyn, Eleanor and Fen. They are all headed to Greece, to celebrate Lexi's hen do, all carrying baggage, and not just the type you check in!
Each chapter is told from a different viewpoint of one of the girls. Each chapter revealing a different secret about one of the girls. The reader is never quite sure what is going to happen to the girls.
Every so often in the book, there is almost a narrator chapter, that is suggesting that something drastically has gone wrong and leaving the reader with a couple of clues.
These girls were, in my opinion, a real dramatic bunch! I am glad me and my friends are not like this – but then we would make a very boring thriller!
I connected with the girls and felt for each one of them, except for Bella and Lexi. I had no empathy for either of these and found myself wanting "the bad thing" to happen to them.
The writing was so suspenseful and the short snappy chapters resulting in me, once again, just wanting one more chapter. I love this type of writing.
My only criticism of the book, is how one of the characters actually got to the island. Unless I missed something. But it was a question that stuck out for me.
The ending of the book was so satisfactory. I was so happy, for so many different things.
This book ticked all of the boxes for me and is an easy 5 star read for me. I am looking forward to more by this author!

So started of slow and I thought not yet another of this genre but once it going it got much better and part of the fun was working on how it would all fit together. Not going to go into more details to prevent spoilers, and for my the ending was a bit meh.


Overall it was a pleasant way to spend time and did enjoy it.

Well Lucy Clarke does it again !! I have read and loved every book by Lucy and this latest was no exception. If you are a fan then you know what to expect but if not then you definitely need to read this and all of her previous books !!

This is a great summer novel with some amazing characters. You will find yourself completely engrossed in the pages of this book and feel as if you are sitting in a villa on a Greek island along with all the women !! And just wait until the final chapters !!!!

Secrets come out and there are twists and turns. A little slow to get going fully but worth sticking with it as it’s a good read!

I very much enjoyed this read. It kept you interested because of the change of direction and pace. However, in parts it was on the slow side. Overall it was great and would recommend as a light holiday read. The various revelations towards the end were a surprise to me and not at all something I had anticipated.

A group of young women meet for a hen do in a stunning villa location on a Greek island. All six of them have a secret that we gradually learn about. When the truth is out the story begins to build up pace with a tragic finale. A gripping thriller leaving you guessing the conclusion till the final chapters. A good read.

I really enjoyed this but once it got to the 70% mark I loved it!! It took a bit too long to get into in all honesty although it was well written.

It got boring around 40-55% so I started skim reading but I didn’t miss anything ag all.

70-END was magnificent writing and I highly rate it! 2nd book I’ve read by this author and I much enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this book, which is the story of Lexi and her hen holiday in Greece, with five of her friends. We are taken on a journey with the women, and shown a beautiful setting, fun holiday vibes, swimming pools galore, the hot sun, and amazing food and drink, which made it feel as though I was right there on the holiday with them soaking up the sun.

It was interesting finding out about each of the women, and their back stories. All was going swimmingly, until nearer the end of the book, when things started to turn a bit sinister. Here we find out the truth about certain people and lots of secrets are revealed.

I found the story, characters and the plot enjoyable, and although the book wasn't very fast paced, I enjoyed the holiday feeling, the mystery and suspense, and the women's fiction aspect of the book. I also thought the narrators were excellent.

This would make a good holiday read, to read on an aeroplane, in a hotel room or at the beach. Highly recommended!

The story is centred around a group of six very different hens (and so-called ‘friends’) who travel to the Greek island of Aegos to celebrate Lexi’s Hen Weekend. The setting instantly swept me away to a much-needed distant land after having being stuck in the UK for the past 4 years due to very obvious reasons!

The girls are a mixed group of both likeable and not-so-likeable characters and each chapter is told from the perspective of ‘one of the girls’. The author has done this skillfully, with the right amount of character development too for this fast-paced book!

There are momentary breaks between some chapters featuring an unknown narrator in italics, which creates and adds to the intrigue of the story as it unravels its reveals and twists which I enjoyed reading. Someone is determined to stop Lexi’s marriage and one of them will not leave the island alive…

I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s easy to read with an uncomplicated plot and short, pacey chapters which contain the right amount of descriptive writing in which to set the scene and atmosphere of the book. I particularly enjoyed descriptions of one of the characters (Eleanor) preparing meals for the group. Being a ‘foody’ myself, the author created a lovely sensory experience and inspired me to prepare some of the dishes described and bring Greek flavours into my own little home in Yorkshire!

A good, easy summer read with an enjoyable dose of intrigue and escapism to a sun-drenched Greek island!

The beautiful Lexi is getting married, so her and five friends head to a Greek island for her hen party.

Immediately, there are tensions within the group and everyone is keeping secrets. It all comes to a head on the last night and tragedy strikes.

Each chapter is told from the point of view of one of the girls at the hen party, and an unknown narrator.
I didn’t really like the characters much and they were a bit irritating at times. Bella in particular was so childish.

Some of the details about the characters seemed a bit pointless. Ana’s job is explained in detail and her reasons for doing it. It’s then never mentioned again so I’m not sure why it was brought up in the first place.

The setting is quite nicely described and it did make me want to go on holiday.

The story was alright, but I did find some parts predictable.

It was easy enough to read but it somehow felt like a long book. I wasn’t gripped and racing through the story like I had expected to be.

The cover is appealing and fits well with the story.

Overall, this is an alright read and would be good to read on holiday, but maybe not if you’re at a hen party!
