This book has all the makings to be a great series from Bec Hill, so reminiscent of goosebumps, this quick tale is packed full of laughs, slime and detention. I loved the ending of the story and how family and friends come together. The dads allergy's to pets is fantastic and adds another layer of the slime being alive. A great creepy read.

Stine garnered their own fan base, Horror Heights will no doubt be hooking in its own mass following of readers who will be sticking with the series much like home-made slime sticks to your fingers.

Set in a normal suburban neighbourhood, it could be yours, and with likeable characters and relatable everyday situations, The Slime is a cracking blend of funny and frightening moments that have you laughing along one minute and then checking that those tubs of slime you have stashed away haven’t taken on a life of their own the next.

Slimy and gooey, exciting and creepy, kids will love the unfolding slime-fest as the at first adorable Big Yikes, who is helpful and friendly - we all need a blob of slime that tidies the bedroom and is more than happy to do homework - evolves into a creepy monster who has its eyes set on eating its creator and her friends.

I loved main protagonist Connie, she is a brilliant young girl who, like many children, is trying to figure out her purpose and where her talent lies. Her close knit group of friends are so typical of girls that age, there are doubts and there are fallings out but when the time comes they all band together.

Horror Heights is a seriously cool book; the funky front cover draws you in, slime oozes across the pages throughout and the dyslexia friendly font means every reader can enjoy it. With an ending that sets up perfectly for book two which is due in April 2022, and with book three publishing in September 2022, readers will be left desperate for the next in the series, in the meantime they may think twice about making their own slime.
