A one-night stand is supposed to end once the sun rises. Only it doesn’t always work out that way in this opposites attract and tortured hero romance.

Elise Hoover never expected this. She didn’t want to go to another party, but when her friend pulls her in, she somehow finds herself hiding in a corner with…him.

Dillon Connolly.

The smirking, so-called good guy with the shadows in his eyes. A single glance, a sweet smile, and she lets herself have one night of giving in.

Only she has to promise herself not to fall in love. No matter the cost.

Loved this book

I'm not really sure how I feel about this book. It wasn't bad, I just felt a little bored while reading.

I found the whole think rather predictable and not done fully. I would have liked more suspense.

Even though this book didn't blow me away, I am interested in reading the next one after the way this one ended!

I am thrilled to have a new series from Carrie Ann Ryan.

Elise and Dillon are perfect for each other. Yes, they only wanted a one night stand but come on when the chemistry is as strong as theirs is one night enough? Nope!

I really love the way Carrie Ann gave them such strong backgrounds and we learn they are not perfect. They have dealt with a lot and, honestly, still are. But maybe the other is just what they each need.

Another great story by Carrie Ann Ryan and a perfect start to a new series.

Elise hasn't been able to stop thinking about Dillon since she saw him a couple of weeks ago.
So when one of her friends dares her to kiss him at a party, AND HE ACCEPTS, she nearly dies.
And although they both agree that it will be just a one night stand, their attraction is strong and they like spending time together.
I liked the book. It's a sweet story about finding love but also pain, struggling with your parents' expectations and just moving on.
I need to read the next one in this series. The sneak peak was epic.

My One Night is the first book in a new series by Carrie Ann Ryan.

For readers that have read Fractured Connections, you will remember Dillon, who was introduced in that book. However if you didn't read that book, I feel like Carrie Ann gave enough character development that you can still fall in love with him and his story.

This story was heart wrenching for so many reasons. Both Elise and Dillon are so unsure of themselves and the emotions that they are feeling with one another. Once they decide that they are pieces of a puzzle to each other, they get hit by a event that shakes them to the core and once again has Elise questioning everything and everyone.

I look forward to more books in this series.

Dillon and Elise have a lot in common. Both are putting themselves through college and have put a lot of pressure on themselves because of this. Dillon has a close family behind him, but had a difficult childhood. Elise has been raised by demanding parents who are incredibly controlling. As the story opens, they meet at a party and on a dare, Elise approaches Dillon and dares him to kiss her. From there they agree to have a one night stand with both adamant they have no time for anything further.

As the story develops, they slowly begin a friendship that turns into more, developing a relationship in a very "backwards" way. Towards the end of the book a number of things happen to throw everyone for a loop. First both Dillon and Elise have issues occur because of their own circumstances and then together with their friends they face a sudden twist that throws everyone for a loop.

I've sort of read these out of order, having read the second book first. That being said, I still thoroughly enjoyed both books, and now need to track down the books from another of Carrie Ann Ryan's series where we first meet Dillon.

Thank you to NetGalley for the Advanced Reader copy of this book. I have voluntarily left an honest review.

What a great start to a new series! Dillon and Elise meet at a party, that neither are really happy about attending. Both are leery of relationships, having been in disastrous ones. They find each other while being wallflowers and one thing leads to another and they form a relationship that leads from one night into many, with many twists and turns. Just as I thought I had it, the author took it to another avenue. I look forward to reading the next in this series. Ms Ryan never disappoints!

ARC received for review

This kind of reminded me of Elle Kennedy's Elle Kennedy Off-Campus and Briar U series.

What was supposed to be a one night stand turned into something more. Dillon (who's related to the Montgomery's in some kind of way) and Elise meet and hook up. The next day and then the next, and then they become something more. Her parents need a good kick in the behind. His Dad is creeping around causing trouble. Then Ms. Ryan gets on my poop list. Elise backs away, but in the end true love wins out.

I was a little confused at times because I hadn't read his brother's books or any of the Montgomery ones (although I do have a lot of them already on my kindle....someday).

What a promising start to a new series from the prolific and always creative Carrie Ann Ryan. And exciting to see a new contemporary, new adult, sweet and steamy series from her!

Dillion and Elise were only supposed to indulge in an unexpected one night stand- neither want anything permanent and are not entirely compatible on paper, but the chemistry is scorching, and from the first kiss, it’s clear it's going to be hard for this to stay a one night deal. Carrie Ann works in quite a few twists and unexpected moments that help catalyze these two leaning into their connection, as Dillon’s past and Elise’s present open up wounds old and new.

Both Elise and Dillion are likable and charming as characters, the chemistry is just adorable. Dillion is just a really good guy, even though he had a rough childhood that weighs on him. Elise has her own family pressures, entirely different than Dillion’s, and where Dillion has direction she feels a bit more lost. The story is quite sweet, with some heart-breaking moments, but these two find a charming sweet HEA. And, we get to meet a vast array of new series characters that I can’t wait to read more about in their own stories.

Note: There is a free prequel (On my Own) that is a great enhancement to this book and covers Elise and Dillion’s backstory, but the book can be read without it. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the characters are interconnected.

Dillon and Elise story was a nicely written college love story no insta love thank you
Their love grows slowly and they explore together step by step the building of their love
Neither of them is a star athlete or simply an athlete they are normal college kids struggling with paper awful books and exams
I really did enjoyed this story
Great side characters and sub plots
Four and a half well deserved stars
Thanks Netgalley for providing this ARC

A dare, a kiss and then a one night stand kick off this book. Students mixing studying, partying and new partnerships as they go through their university year. A male house and a female house with friends chatting and mixing together and sometimes falling in love. Some interesting surprises woven in as our couple try to get together and fight off their past and present demons. A good story, with some sad moments and some more tense moments that are woven together well.

I liked this story! As soon as I read the description of the book, I knew it was going to be a book for me. I just finished it in one sitting on my day off!
I’m giving it 4 stars because I thoroughly enjoyed it but the story and chemistry fell slightly flat which didn’t make me become obsessed enough to give it 5 stars.
Will happily recommend this book!
