The main character is a detective and when her twin sister gets killed, she investigates the murder and seems not to display any emotion whatsoever. It is rightly disturbing. Instead right from the start she is more interested in getting attention from her fellow detective. It is also odd that she is allowed to investigate her own sister's murder (unduly influence on the professional judgment, conflict of interest, anyone, no?), and she doesn't seem to be a very competent detective, for example, she asks a witness if the witness is sure that the victim was murdered. Wait, what??! Isn't it a coroner's job to determine the cause of death and not from the external appearance observed by a witness?

The character is one dimensional, the book has many characters right from the beginning that are confusing and dialogues that are not very interesting. There is some early hint that the main character was sexually abused by her father but it is not properly introduced nor explained that it made me wonder if this book is one of the series and I should already know about it.

This book is like one big mess and I could not pass 20%. Some books just should not be published. I should have looked up other reviews first but at least I didn't lose any money.

The basic plot of Her Sister's Killer is good: Chicago detective Victoria Wharton returns to the small New Hampshire town where she grew up when her sister is murdered. She finds a town full of secrets, most of them related to her own family. Although the fact that she is seconded to the local police force to work the case seems unusual, to say the least.

But the characters in the novel are ill defined and just not credible. Too many are one dimensional, with budding romances among all the key suspects to muddy the waters. Vicky herself shows no real investigative skills, none of the smarts she must have shown to become a city detective. The hunt for her sister's killer is more a gentle inquiry than a homicide investigation. She is scared by the simplest thing - surely not the response of a Chicago detective. And when she stumbles across an assault she screams for help rather than calling for back up.

Her Sister's Killer is a short novel that shows some promise and the writing is generally good. But overall it lacks both depth and believability.

Well written and exciting murder mystery. Victoria's sister has been murdered and she is allowed to be part of the team looking for the killer. Small town America where Rebecca should have been safe - not like Chicago where Victoria usually worked, yet here she is trying find her sister's killer in Hancockk where they'd both grown up.

Enjoyed it

This book hooks and intrigues you straightaway. It is about complexities of family relationships and for Victoria the main character having to face her demons to a home that she left for reasons none of us should have to suffer so that she can find who murdered her sister.
The author introduces a few characters that will definitely make you consider as suspects, I love a book that keeps you on your toes, I had my initial suspect from the beginning and I was right but I did question and change my mind a few times but the art of a great story teller is not allowing the reader to guess why the murderer did what they did, I would have never guessed the reason.
I could not put this book down which is a sign of a good book.
I look forward to reading more of this authors books.

Not to sure about this one, while the book had suspense, intrigue, action and a good who done it, it just didn't grab my attention?! My mind wandered off and I just wasn't that involved with the story?! It was an ok read, and worth reading but it wasn't my top favorites! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
