I love this series! It gets better with each book. Taking place in Sugarland, TN, the town is hosting its annual homecoming festival and Verity has a mystery to solve. She of course needs Frankie the ghost’s help. In this book, we also meet Verity’s mom, who I could not friggin stand. Please do not bring her back. There are lots of other familiar characters that I love. The next book is already announced, and I can’t wait for May 2022 to read it.
It's homecoming week in Sugarland, but this year a time capsule is being opened so Verity's mother Tilly and step-dad Carl ,come home to join in the fun. But when the body of Tilly's friend is discovered in the time capsule, Verity must persuade Frankie to lend him her powers so she can find out who killed Ashley. But with Tilly also trying to help and spilling all Verity's secrets in the process, this mystery could be the most challenging for Verity yet.
Another great installment by Angie Fox. This one ends on a real cliffhanger and I'm already looking forward to reading the book that follows.
Great read, great author and would highly recommend. Definitely going to be reading more books by Angie
Another brilliant book in this fantastic paranormal cozy mystery series! I feel like I just don't know how to explain why this series or these characters got into my heart, just that they did. In this book Verity, Frank and Ellis end up having to investigate an old murder during the town's homecoming weekend when there's celebrations, thousands of people, Verity's Mom, and complete chaos getting in their way. This one is a little less paranormal than the previous books in the series but it was still really fun and the grumpy mob ghost Frankie is still begrudgingly helping people ha ha... I did guess the identity of the murderer but only because I guessed it was every single character we met along the way ha ha ha....
One of the things I love about this series is that with each new book a little more of the characters' personalities and backstories is revealed just as we would gradually get to know people in real life.
These books have become a sort of comfort blanket for me, they're super easy to read, lovable characters and a mystery to get absorbed in. Fans of the series won't be disappointed with this latest book.
I was so excited to finally get my grabby paws on an advanced copy of this book! It didn't disappoint. This is more of a regular murder mystery and less of a spirit world. Verity's Mom comes for a visit, hoping to reconnect with her best friend from high school to took off on the day of their Homecoming. It's Homecoming again, and they're about to open a time capsule. Only along with recipes and pictures and random the time capsule contains a body of Ashley Starling, Verity's Mom's best friend.
Verity and her Mom are on a mission to find a killer. Except Frankie is hiding from a Cuban mobster and isn't too keen on helping Verity to connect with Ashley. And Ashley has absolutely no idea that she's dead. She keeps waiting for her secret admirer to show up and take her away.
There a re multiple suspects from their former science teacher to her ex boyfriend and his current wife. But the real murderer was quite the surprise. I didn't see it coming and was a little sad because I actually liked him.
Verity and Ellis's relationship is wonderful as always. They're becoming real partners. And Melody and Duranja? Didn't see that coming either :)
It's fall which means Homecoming in Sugarland, Tennessee. Verity Long is ecstatic because her peripatetic mother is coming to visit. She doesn't understand why her mother feels the need to travel all over the country when she could be living in the best place on earth. Her mother is especially excited to see a friend of hers she hasn't seen since high school, Ashley. Everyone else is excited because a big donation means a new scoreboard and the placement means that the school's time capsule is going to be dug up. Unfortunately, the capsule holds more than just good memories. There is a body in the capsule and it's wearing the same dress that Ashley was last seen in. Verity's mom begs her to figure out what happened to her friend.
Once again, Verity is running around talking to ghosts. And also meddling in their business. Well, Frankie and Molly business anyway. It seems Frankie is getting some cold feet about spending "Forever After" with Molly because... well, they're ghosts. And forever after is a darn long time for them.
I think you definitely will have want to have read other books in the series. It may not be absolutely necessary but it adds layers to the story.
Three and a half stars

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Homecoming and Halloween festivities are meant to be happy times not deadly as Verity will quickly find out. Finding a dead body on the football will have her in the middle of things.
A fast paced whodunit that will keep you entertain in the series.
Having not read the previous books from this series I found it didn't hamper my enjoyment with this book, loved the characters especially grumpy gangster Frankie and Lucy the skunk, enjoyed the storyline and the plot and can't wait to read more of these
This book was provided to me compliments of #NetGalley for my honest opinion.
If you like the previous nine in this series you won’t be disappointed with the latest. It’s a fun story with enjoyable characters.
Verity's doing her thing and...well, her mom's actually making things a little more difficult for her while attempting to help. Which is unfortunate and maybe a little infuriating (because WOW Tilly is just dropping their plan of attack like a two-ton brick on anybody who's within earshot), but Verity is trying to be patient and go with the flow.
In Verity's mom's defense, the body found at homecoming is that of her high school BFF. So she kind of invested in figuring out what happened. On the other hand, she's literally telling everyone what's going on with Verity's investigation and...that's never a good path to take when the person who did the killing might still be around.
But enough about Verity's mom's loose lips. Besides trying to figure out who killed someone from homecoming past, Verity's also dealing with Frankie and his issues. BOY, does he have issues. Namely of the trust and self-esteem variety. Following ghostly threads is a wee bit difficult when the helper ghost is sunk in his own despair.
But Verity is up to the challenge. It takes a while for her to get it through her mom's head that hunting killers is made even more dangerous when Tilly is telling everyone everything, but they get there. Eventually.
Ghosts, family, secrets, lies, and truths coming to light. *thumbs up*
Haunted Homecoming is the 10th book in the Southern Ghost Hunter mystery series by Angie Fox. The author does a good job of providing some of the backstory of the characters if you haven't read the other books in the series. A few things to note about this book: It takes place over the time period of a weekend, it is a short story, and there is definitely a cliffhanger at the end.
I have read several of the other books in the series and I like that Verity is a strong female character, smart, and funny. I like the small town feeling in the series. In this book, I was a bit annoyed with Verity's mother who came to visit for the Homecoming weekend. She continued to tell a lot of people Verity's business with her investigation even after Verity asked her not to. Some may see this as funny or "just how moms are". It is disrespectful and am glad Verity stood up for herself. Some of the language in the book was a bit off for a story set in 2020 and the main character being in her twenties.
I felt like I knew "who did it" early on, but was still surprised with the twist at the end.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the electronic review copy.
I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. Another great mystery from one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend can't wait for more.
I've never really read a cozy mystery before until now. I enjoyed this one and didn't realize there are 9 others before it but it read fine by itself.
This was a slightly different book to others I have read in this series because it's pretty much a who done it kind of mystery. Yes we have ghosts for Verity to hunt down and question but this wasn't quite as tangled up in the paranormal side as I'm used to from this author.
What always works is the odd relationship that Verity has with her resident ghost Frankie because he's as cantankerous as ever but Frankie isn't exactly telling the truth to either Verity or his sweetheart Molly ! I've previously been a little disappointed by Veritys boyfriend Ellis but this time they seemed much more in tune and their romance felt much more realistic.
However relationships are tricky things and here we get quite a lot of Veritys usually absent mother and my goodness did I want to give that woman a slap ! I thought she was the most selfish, unfeeling parent that I have read about in a long time. Honestly her portrayal as a character everyone loved just didn't jibe with the way she behaved. If blunt I really wish she hadn't been included in this story although I can see why she was as its (slight spoiler) her friend who was murdered.
The bottom line is I liked following the mystery and the red herrings scattered throughout. Relationships are changing in Veritys world whether she likes it or not which was a nice side plot. The mystery gets solved but as this ends there are very clearly ideas in the authors head for the next book and I very much look forward to reading more about the inhabitants of Sugarland.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This was a fun book to read. I enjoyed the story and the characters. The ending was great. I definitely can’t wait to read more books in this series. Lucky for me there are quite a few books to read in this series. I highly recommend this book.
This is one of my favorite series! Each book adds so much to the story, Ellis and Verity are in a good place, and Frankie is on the run from the ghost of El Gato..., and also hiding from his feelings for his girlfriend Molly.. Verity's mom is in town for the opening of the time capsul that was buried her senior year, and while Verity is very happy to see her mom, she realizes that her mom has been telling everyone and their brother about all of the things she gets up to with Frankie. Which definitely annoys her to no end.. I mean she already knows that some of the people in town think shes crazy, but everyone doens't need to know all of her and Frankies business.. She still has to live in the town after her mom goes back to traveling the country in her camper. When the body of her mothers high school best friend is found in the time capsul, her mother convinces Verity to try and find Ashely and talk to her.. This leads to an adventure trying to track down the ghost of the homecoming queen, and find out what really happened to her..
Lucy is still one of my favorite characters, she even gets a cute little cheerleading outfit.. I love every one in this series, even all of the different ghosts.. Verity gets to see the ghost of her old cafateria lady, who really wants Verity to eat her meatloaf.
I can't wait for the next book in the series which is going to start right where this one left off, and I can't wait to see what mystery Verity and Frankie will get involved in next..
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of THE HAUNTED HOMECOMING (Book 10 of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries), by Angie Fox, in exchange for an honest review. Verity’s mother is back in town for Homecoming weekend and the opening of her class’s time capsule. When the time capsule’s revelations include the remains from a decades old murder, Verity must find the killer before the Homecoming festivities end. Meanwhile, Frankie, Verity’s ghost pal, slows down the process with his romantic woes.
I liked this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this book to fans of the author and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, ghosts, high school reunions, homecoming, and humor.

Another hit in a great series. I happily grab each one of Verity's adventures when i find them, and this one was no exception. Lots of ghosts, lots of adventure with Frankie, and of course romance with Ellis. Fun series and read, and one I highly recommend.
Another great entry in this series. I read it in one go.
There were two "What the Heck!" moments for me, one right at the beginning and one right at the end. The first was the realization I am 5 years older than Verity's mom. What?!? I always relate to the main character so that took me back (even knowing that Verity is in her early 30's). The second leaves the book with a cliffhanger to set up the next book. Not a cliffhanger with someone in mortal or immortal peril so most would probably not consider it a cliffhanger. It was more a segue to the next book and left me unhappy (and interested) but not in pain as some cliffies do.
I've read most of the series, might have missed one or two, but this one had the most conventional storyline in terms of the mystery. The mystery was still good though. However, it gives the reader a great look at life in Sugarland and gave some more time to some of the townsfolk.
There were even a couple of life lessons dropped in that fit in well and weren't overly preachy.
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Book 10 but easily can be read as a standalone. Verity is an exciting interesting character. A really fun read that will entertain you. The mystery can be solved but it's such fun you don't care. Thanks #netgalley and #MooseIslandBooks for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
