This brief extract from the upcoming Beautiful World, Where Are You promises another well written book with understated yet believable characters. Unfortunately there is not much that can be gleaned from such a short excerpt, but I can say that I enjoyed the small portion I could read and look forward to more. I read and reviewed an excerpt courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher.

SO EXCITED TO READ THIS BOOK! The extract was just a tease, and I cannot wait to finish it. Sally Rooney is so talented at creating these worlds where I am immediately transported and hate putting down the story.

Glad to have been able to read the first chapter - such a tease! Definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

Love Rooney's style of writing - looking forward to reading more than just one chapter! Enjoyed this teaser.

Reading Sally Rooney's writing style again and it never let's you down. Her way of writing without quotation may seem weird at first but it gets easy and flowy with time and that too pretty quick.
Although this was just an Extract, just the first chapter, but the way she has written the surrounding, from the bar to the building to the room, it feels very real and vivid, and the third person narration is spot on, as if looking at it from the camera angles.
About the story, I'm amped to read the complete book, the extract was pretty good telling us the traits of the characters, Alice and Felix.

I am sure for Sally Rooney's book and her way with the stories that this is gonna be on my Highly Recommended list.

If this were a sample chapter on kindle, I would (and probably will) go on to buy this book. The extract doesn't give too much away, at all, but it's enough for these two characters and that refectory house to be on my mind now. I want to know more about Felix and Alice, I want to know if their paths will cross again. I've never read anything by Sally Rooney before, this sample has me intrigued though. I like her style of writing, definitely.

Thank you to Faber and Faber for the sample chapter.

This extract has made me very eager to read the book. Rooney's cold, emotionally detached style is a pleasure to read.

Having only read the extract of the book I'm interested enough with what is going to happen with the characters but I'm also slightly confused with the awkwardness that was left between Alice and Felix.
My only let down was there were no quotation marks so it was slightly hard for me to work out what was said or what was thought of.
Although within saying that, I still would read the whole book and over time I'll probably get used to the style of writing.

Thankyou Netgalley and Faber and Faber Ltd.

*3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars from what I've read.

Sally Rooney has the ability to capture the most awkward moments between two people so eloquently on the page. That is what I enjoyed most about Normal People, I am glad to see in this extract that she has kept the same style. When I read her writing, I feel like a kind playing hide and seek in the dark, I have no idea where she will lead me but the journey is such fun. Looking forward to reading me of this book when released.

I don't think Sally Rooney's writing style is for me, which is a disappointment! The style and prose just didn't draw me in like I was hoping it would.

As with all of Rooney's work, there's a sense of clarity to her language without sacrificing any emotional weight. This small selection certainly has me interested in reading the whole book when it's released–and I'm sure it'll be one of the highlights of the autumnal book season.

My thanks to Faber & Faber for the tantalising extract from the hotly anticipated book of 2021. Beautiful World, Where Are you by Sally Rooney will be released on 7th September, so not long to wait.

I am obviously not going to give any spoilers here suffice to say that this is going to be something rather special. As this was an extract, I got to meet Alice who is a writer and Felix who works in a warehouse and both set off on a first date together, but just how do they get on and do they want to see more of each other. Sally Rooney sets the scene for the reader, blind dates can sometimes be a disaster, so I am really intrigued to see what does become of both Alice and Felix. Both have a story to tell, which you are going to want to know more about. There was an intriguing end to the chapter that left you wanting to know what happened next.

Sally Rooney has a beautiful writing style, and she really gets the characters so right and allows you to be drawn into the story. I felt as though I was eavesdropping on their blind date, that I what Sally Rooney does with her writing. This story is alive and left you wanting more.

I will continue to read an enjoy anything that comes from under Rooney’s finger. This generous excerpt from so highly anticipated novel allows us to dive right back into the atmospheric world that Rooney so expertly builds.. I really enjoyed the way she wrote in third person here. It feels as though there is an observer to the life of Eileen and they choose to detail everything for the reader. It feels nosey and intimate at once. It also feels casual and easy to connect and imagine the protagonists life. Cannot wait to read the rest of the story, 7th September cannot come soon enough!

I was beyond excited to hear Sally Rooney was releasing another novel and after reading an extract of 'Beautiful World, Where Are You' it did not disappoint. Well maybe just a little because I want to read the whole book! With her evocative writing style, Rooney has again delivered fascinating characters, complex relationships, and an intriguing plot that I'm dying to get stuck into.

My first Sally Rooney and now I get why people love her. The writing is hypnotic! Even though this was only a few pages I instantly saw and got a feel for the character, and then I wanted to read more because the mystery is this woman. Not only do I want to know who she is, but I want to know how she came to be.

Beautiful!

I'm not one to download extracts of books and when I requested Beautiful World, Where Are You By Sally Rooney I genuinely believed I was requesting a full copy of the book. Alas, I just got a teaser.

From what I read in chapter one you an expect a typical Sally Rooney story. Complex characters, difficult relationship, quirky basis for a story. And yes I will buy a copy of it when it comes out but there isn't really a lot that I can say about it. I do wish Sally Rooney would use speech marks though.

Beautiful World, Where Are You By Sally Rooney is available from 7th September 2021.

This extract has left me needing more. I can’t wait for the release date!
Chapter one shows us an awkward first date between Alice and Felix, that appears to end in failure. I want to know what their stories are. What their backgrounds are. Will they see each other again? I can’t wait to read the rest of the book. I have been hooked in and grabbed by this extract.

Sally Rooney does it again. I think I liked Beautiful World even more than her others because it felt slightly less "millennial". If you love her other works, you are going to absolutely love this. But even if you don't, this could still be worth a try!

Too cruel! I’m already hooked, after so few pages. Is it Sept 7th yet? If the rest of the book can be judged on this extract, we’re all in for a treat this autumn.
