I loved this extract and desperately want to read on!
It’s beautifully written, engaging and intriguing,
I can’t wait to get the chance to read the full book.

Feels like this has the bones of a great book.
I predict another Sally Rooney hit on the horizon.

The excerpt was only the first chapter but the characters have already sucked me in and I'm eagerly anticipating September 7!

10/10 loved this (even though it was just 1 chapter) I can already see myself absolutely devouring it once it is fully released!!
So excited to finish this one!!

Looks worth reading! Need the whole book to be able to review fully. I didn't realize it was just a sample when I asked for it.

I can't wait to read more! I love Sally Rooney and this is my most anticipated read of 2021. She will literally never disappoint me.

Sally Rooney writes in a way that is visceral and allows you to emerge yourself in each scene. No description is wasted. It paints a beautiful rich world which allows yourself to believe these characters exist off the page. A telling sign of a good first chapter is waiting with bated breath to read the next.

What a great extract, can't wait to read the full book. Sally's writing draws you in right from the start, the way she can create complex characters through subtle actions and words is such a skill.

Thanks for this excerpt. I am so excited to read the rest of Sally Rooney’s new novel. Her books are completely immersive and emotionally thrilling.

Thank for an advanced copy of chapter 1.
It took me a while to get used to Sally Rooney’s writing style as this is the first of her books I have read. I enjoyed how the characters developed after only 1 chapter. I would be keen to read on.

Sally's books are always fab. I can't wait to read the full version of this one. As always very well written with strong characters that develop more as the story unfolds

*Feedback on extract only*
I’ve missed Sally Rooney’s unique style of writing, the stillness and beauty of her prose. This extract provides very little indication of what BWWAY is going to be about but it certainly does feel a little bit more mature than Rooney’s previous works and for that I am really excited. I can’t wait to read it in full next month!

What a teaser! Thankfully I have the audio to follow up with this one so I'm not left hanging.
I have been so looking forward to reading this book by Sally Rooney. This extract is a peek at the central characters. I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

A teasingly small extract from Sally Rooney's new novel had me gripped, and to be honest, annoyed that I did not have the whole novel to read.
Two strangers meet, have a short nervous interaction before parting company - but, of course, it is inevitable they will meet again.
Sally Rooney has an unique ability to make one look at people and the world in general in a new light. Her writing is fearless and lucid but also picks up on all those little nuances that so often pass us by unnoticed. To compare Sally to any of the great writers of the past would be an insult. It is enough to say she is a great writer of the future.

I was so excited to see the email from NetGalley approving me for an ARC of Sally Rooney's latest novel but imagine my disappointment when I realized it was only for the 1st chapter. So the teaser by Net Galley did tease me :-).
I have read, and enjoyed, Rooney’s Normal People and was very excited to dive into this. So how do you rate or give an opinion on a book solely by one chapter? Suffice to say the one chapter has ensured I will read this book. The atmosphere is built up quietly and subtly. One minute you are reading, the next you feel you’re right there: sitting next to Alice; or perhaps observing Felix; indulging in a drink in a Dublin bar.
Alice, a writer who meets Felix in a Dublin bar. Felix works in a warehouse, very reluctantly, he adds. Why are they meeting? How did Alice get to know of Felix, we don’t know. She is new to town, having rented an entire home through a friend.. Alice is diffident, a tad mysterious and reserved. She would take a while in opening up. Yet, in the same breath, she invites Felix if he would like to see the place she is living.
Felix is suspicious of her and that she unsettles him. The encounter is stacatto but fraught with invisible emotion. Quite like Rooney’s style of not using quotation marks.
Felix and Alice walk to her place, he takes it in and then, leaves!
You certainly want to know more and want to see where this story is headed.
Thank you @NetGalley and @FaberandFaber for the extract.
The book is out on September 7, 2021.

Thank you to Sally Rooney and Faber and Faber Ltd for the ARC. I have only read an extract that I was sent so this review is just based on that!
Sally Rooney has such a distinct writing style and this book feels very stylistically similar: slow, quiet, and emotionally evocative. The extract revolved around an awkward meeting between Alice, a mysterious novelist, and Felix, who works in a warehouse. Honestly, it was not particularly eventful for an opening chapter (and there also isn't a lot of description of what either character is thinking or feeling) so it's hard to gauge how it'll progress going forward but the prose is beautiful. I'm not going to lie, I find the lack of dialogue punctuation difficult for my brain to comprehend, but I do get the intended impact and it was something I expected going in so I can't be mad about it. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would since this is not usually my favourite genre of fiction, and will almost definitely read the whole book when I can.

I am in the minority here in that I wasn’t a fan of Rooney’s “Normal People”. It just didn’t gel with me.
Ever, this extract really whetted my appetite. It is precise and descriptive and exciting. This had everything I wanted and I’m really looking forward to reading the rest when it comes out and I can already see another TV adaptation.

I received an extract of the book 'Beautiful World, Where Are You' from NetGalley. My next comments will be honest and only focus on the first chapter (which was the extract I received).
The writing style of Sally Rooney is immediately distinctive and intriguing. The sentences flow while the lack of quotation marks makes you come to a stop.
Rooney paints a very detailed picture of people. The way they act, react, or don't react. I enjoy the way she lets an expression hang in a sentence without explaining it until later - letting the reader interpret in the moment whether a nod is a good or a bad thing.
The first chapter is very promising and I can't wait to read the rest.

This is getting three stars because I didn't realize it was a one chapter excerpt when I requested it. It's nearly impossible to anticipate how you will feel about a book after one chapter. I'm disappointed but not surprised as this has been like the most hush-hushed novel of the year.

I can't wait to read the full book because this first chapter is very promising ! I loved the dynamic between the two characters. This is my first Sally Rooney but the writing style of this book made me want to try her other ones.
