Reading a few sentences into this extract, I was thinking that I would read anything written by Sally Rooney! The intro describes briefly the encounter between the novelist Alice and the warehouse keeper Felix, and their brief visit to Alice’s estate by the sea. It’s not enough to guess the plots, but seems promising enough to see what would be unraveled in September for us.

The first chapter of this book is beautifully written. It sets a slow, vaguely sad tone ... and feels almost as if a ghostly presence is narrating the interaction between the man and woman. If feels detached, stark, lonely. The lack of quotation marks make the conversations run together as the thought processes tick by from each character. I can't wait to read more of this book!

Received the first chapter of this book from NetGalley and Faber and Faber…difficult to review after just 10 minutes, but I would continue to read it if given the choice. Now that I am introduced to Alice and Felix and the dark, intriguing atmosphere of the book, I would like to know what happens next! 3 stars for now with opportunities to move up or down!

Sally Rooney has this magical way of truly capturing the characters she’s writing about. The raw, real, and often times hurting characters in her books are written so well that you can’t help but be intrigued from page to page as to what they will do next. Alice and Felix are interesting characters even after only one chapter and I want to know what’s going to happen next with the relationship between them. So much was left unsaid, and I truly want to know what’s going to happen next!

Thank you Faber for the extract of Beautiful World, Where are You by Sally Rooney.
What was the game with Alice and Felix in the first few pages? Why did Felix leave the rectory as I assumed they'd enjoy an evening together? The extract closes with "Follow her eyes now and notice the bedroom door left open, a slice of white wall visible through the banister posts." What's the significance of the white wall?
Incredibly intrigued!! Hopeful I am able to read the novel in advance of the September 7 publication.

Because this is only the first chapter of the book, I do not feel that it is appropriate to write a review. I am looking forward to reading the book in its entirety. Another excerpt is available in The New Yorker, published as "Unread Messages".

The highly anticipated third title from acclaimed novelist Sally Rooney. This extract alone has shown that the brilliant writer, in her unique way is yet again producing another stunning study of human nature and relationships that will draw in and break the hearts of reader after reader. I look forward to reading a full copy of the novel when published!

This made me want to read the whole book, and now the wait feels even longer!! I can’t wait until September. But thanks to the publishers for giving me a sneak peak!!

I was lucky enough to be given an EARC of an extract of this book. Thanks NetGalley!
I haven’t read the full book yet - just the extract that was given. However, this small extract was brilliant. Rooney’s trademark emphasis on deep characterisation starts off with a bang in this novel. I came away from reading Normal People with mixed emotions, and uncertain whether I loved or hated it; the extract of this that I read seemed to contain all of the elements I loved about it. It introduced us to two of the main characters, Felix and Alice, as they went on their first date. It felt awkward and true to life in a way that Rooney manages with remarkable accuracy.
I’ll definitely be looking forward to reading this in full when I can.

I have read quite a few of Sally Rooney's books and have liked them. This chapter left me intrigued and wanting to know more. I have so many questions about these two. I wish I had gotten the whole thing as an ARC because I'm so curious. I will definitely look for the book at the library when it comes out.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this chapter.

Thank you to Faber and Faber for allowing me to read an extract of my most anticipated book of the year!
Just from the first chapter I can tell I am going to love this one! It seems like it’s going to be a little different from Rooney’s past books, a bit more mature, but with her classic writing style.
I can’t wait to read the rest of it! I preordered my own copy ages ago.

This is an excerpt from the novel only - the first chapter and introduces two of the key four characters
I am intrigued now for the book's release in September

This was a very short extract and as such not what I was expecting, but the blurb does sound promising. Not much happens in this first chapter: two characters named Alice and Felix go on a date having never met each other before. They seemed intriguing to me yet they didn’t seem to click with each other, from this brief excerpt. It didn’t really give me much of an idea of the book as yet so I guess we will have to wait and see.

This excerpt is captivating and complex. Rooney manages to hook the reader by opening with an interaction between a man and a woman in a bar. Not much is revealed about Alice and Felix in this extract, but I'm intrigued by them. I love how Rooney's writing is at once incredibly detailed and colloquial. Her description of body language expertly conveys the chemistry between the characters. When I finished reading this short e-arc, I was left wanting to learn more about the relationship between the two people who are introduced.
It is hard to give a rating based on a single chapter, but I have high hopes for "Beautiful World, Where Are You" and I look forward to reading the finished copy upon its release.

This is the book I’m most excited about this year and it was great to get a look at the first chapter. Her other books were 5 star reads for me and I ordered a signed copy of this one on the day it was announced.
This extract had me completely captivated and I am now just desperate to find out what happens next. I had been counting down the days until publication and even more so now. A huge amount of intrigue has been triggered by the style of writing here and I’m so looking forward to reading the rest of it in the coming weeks.

A little preview to the first chapter for Sally's new book.
I don't know how you can review on just one chapter, feel it could of been three at least.
I will however look forward to reading the book once it's released.

The extract introduces us to Alice and Felix, as they go on their first date and get their first impressions of each other. They felt very real and I’m excited to continue following their stories. Gosh Alice has my attention! New to town, has lived between places and is a writer?! I want to know more! I loved her response to tardiness. And I loved how inquisitive Felix was.
It never fails to amaze me how Rooney’s writing envelops me instantaneously. It already feels like the perfect read for 20s-30s who feel a little bewildered about life’s all about. I thought this extract would help me in the meantime until the book publishes, but my gosh it’s made me so impatient. I’m literally counting down the days until pub day!
Thank you Faber & Faber for making this extract available and allowing me to read it.

I was fortunate enough to receive the first chapter of this book in exchange for a review. While in most instances it is hard to review only one chapter, Rooney's prose makes it easy. I am so intrigued by the story already, and cannot wait to devour it when it comes out next month.

What a delight to get a sneak peek of Sally Rooneys upcoming book Beautiful World, Where Are You? The opening chapter invites us to join Alice and Felix on their awkward, but not disastrous, first date. In only a couple of pages, we get to know some already very relatable and intriguing characters, each with a history I was left begging to unravel. You can already feel the threads of the story coming together in a very similar style to Conversations With Friends and Normal People.
This little extract has been released to hook us, and it worked. I can't wait to read the rest of the book.

Getting a sneak peek at Sally Rooney's next book? Yes please!
This was an excerpt of the first chapter and now I am so excited to read this when it finally comes out! Her writing style is so special, beautiful and captivating all at once. The glimpses we saw of Alice and Felix, who are on a first date that isn't really going bad but not good either, are definitely a good way to build up curiosity for the story.
Anyway, this was an excellent way to peak my interest at least and it feels like it's a helluva story heading our way this fall!
