Everything I love about Rooney's writing is all there: the precision, beautifully authentic dialogue, the way she builds her characters with painterly strokes.

What a teaser this was, I have to see how it ends now. An extremely awkward date with tense moments-hello real life! The only real criticism so far is the lack of use of quotations. It’s not always clear who was speaking and forced me to re-read things a couple of times. I enjoyed Sally Rooney’s “Normal People” and hated “Conversations with Friends” so I hope this book trends toward the former and not the latter. Based upon this initial chapter extract, I’ve got this portion rated at four stars ⭐️.

This first chapter was good and it let me wanting to read the rest of the book. I will be reading the whole book.

A very tense beginning. Classic and Rooney sparse, taut prose. I got sucked in really fast and was pretty disappointed the preview was so short. I hoped for at least 3/4 chapters. At least the drop date is soon.

The very short extract is intriguing, closer to Sally Rooney's short stories than her previous novels, and that's a good thing.

Even though this is only the first chapter, we are immediately drawn in and wanting to find out more about the characters.

Very intriguing and has the hallmarks of the author's beautifully poignant and bittersweet style. Already things not quite turning out how you expect. Look forward to reading more.

I just adored it, even it is the first chapter. Sally doesn't lose her magic with this new novel, I am truly in love. I cannot wait to read it all!

As suspected this extract from the new buzz book looks promising. It introduced you to what will probably be the main characters and their meeting, I can't wait to read it.

I was sent the first chapter of Sally Rooney's new book. Of course it was just a tease, but I am definitely excited for the book's release on September 7th!

This is a really gripping extract and I cannot wait to read the full thing when it comes out! It has definitely left me wanting more

One of the best things I can say about this extract is that if I hadn't been told who the author of this book was, I could have guessed afterwards - Sally Rooneys style of writing is so distinctive now, after just two novels, which is really something. It quickly became apparent that these two people were meeting on a date. It seemed the evening was heading one way - why it didn't will make me get the book on it's release (which I would have done anyway.). I got the impression he was withholding some information back about the house. I liked the style of writing because it is just so minimalist and to the point - the merest of details to let you know where it is. I felt I was eavesdropping on the couple, such was the naturalness of the conversation. Marianne and Connell popped into my head a few times, but that's ok. Like Felix, I was intrigued by Alice and why she had ended up there. The mention of her unreliable father. Looking forward to his even more now.

Good extract, look forward to the book being published. The file needs a few alterations, a lot of large gaps and sentences stopping mid-sentence. Book cover could also be added to the file.

I have already preordered Beautiful World, Where Are You as I have loved Sally Rooney's other works. It's difficult to review a short extract but it did leave me intrigued and I'm excited to read the full novel when it's released.

So many books I've been looking forward to this year that have not let me down. Sally Rooney's book Beautiful World, Where Are You, is one of those books. Although I was only granted access to an Extract, I very much look forward to reading the rest of this book when it is made available.
