My word Jo only goes and does it again and was simply outstanding read from the first page I was totally hooked. Set in France and a perfect book to curl up and get engrossed on and forget the world. Full of mystery and new beginnings and making new friends and of cause learning new skills. It’s a magical read and plenty of romance as well worth far more than five stars.
Fliss and her sisters loose there grandfather and they inherit a chateau in France. Of course they don’t no how their grandfather became to have this chateau and the biggest problem is there is a sitting tenant. They head to France to the chateau but soon learn it needs a lot of work and they can’t sell it but also have to pay a monthly allowance to so what do they do. Fliss decides to spruce it up and open a B&B but the problem is the local mayor which is the tenants grandson and the villagers are so against her and she has to work hard to turn them around. What will happen when she tries to do some work and how will jacques react and will he support her and will sparks soon be flying between them. She’s been told by many she won’t pull it off and will have to sell up but will she make it work will they support her or not and what happens as she’s asked to do a wedding for the couple who stayed there and will everyone be friendly. Will she also learn how her grandfather came to have this chateau and the past of her grandfather.
A perfect festive read and you won’t want it to end.
Another heart-warming romance from Jo Thomas. Fliss has dyslexia, an on/off boyfriend and struggles to hold down a job. When she and her two sisters unexpectedly inherit a run-down French chateau, they decide Fliss is the only one with the time to live there for a few days, while they decide what to do with it. She ends up staying a lot longer than planned. A warm-hearted story of how the chateau helps Fliss and her troubled nephew Jason find a more fulfilling life, despite the initial hostility of some of the locals. There are some wonderful characters: a reclusive chatelaine with a link to Fliss's beloved grandfather, a handsome mayor with the power to reject Fliss's plans for the chateau and 'Monsieur le plombier', not forgetting Pegasus the horse and Cedric the peacock! Evocative descriptions of French food and village life help you feel you're among the villagers enjoying the chateau's reawakening.
An engrossing tale of building a business at a French chateau, an unexpected legacy from a grandparent. Build in a few family difficulties and of course, a romance and you have a fine story which I would recommend as a relaxing read.
Jo Thomas does it again, the ultimate feel-good book! Want to smile and have a happy experience reading a book, then you must read Celebrations at the Chateau.
This is a lovely story following Fliss and her sisters being left a house in France following the death of their grandfather. When they arrive at the house they find it is a Chateau, but they can’t sell it due to the French contract in existence on the Chateau. Fliss remains behind to see what can be done with the Chateau.
Alongside the adventure that Fliss goes on, supported by her nephew, there is the mystery about how her grandfather came to own the Chateau, something that no one in the family knew about. Underlying this is intrigue and a love story that is revealed as the story progresses.
This is a real feel good story with plenty of mishaps and trials that Fliss and her helpers have to overcome, and the author does a great job of getting you to be there with Fliss every step of the way and rooting for her. Fliss has this magical quality that leads to everyone around her, well almost everyone, flocking to her side and supporting her.
I strongly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good romance, or a great story. Jo Thomas has quickly become a favourite author after the last two books I have read written by her. Hopefully it will not be too long until the next one.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publishers for providing a copy of this book for me, for an an open and honest review.
I absolutely adore this authors books so was so excited to be able to read a copy of this one as part of my Christmas in a July reading. The story was not just about finding love but about a journey of self discovery and happiness and how events in the past intertwine into the present day and also shape the future in the characters lives. The story also showed how life can be so much better with family around and when others pull together to make things work and to support each other. As always the author manages to bring the story to life with the descriptions of the chateau and the beautiful food jumping off the page and bringing the story to life. Celebrations at the Chateau would make a lovely
Feel good cosy Christmas film. This was a beautiful feel good and romantic and magical read and once I had started reading it I couldn’t put it down and devoured in on a dark and dreary July day
Absolutely loved this book. This is only the 2nd book by Jo that I have read and I can't wait to read more.
I read this in one sitting it was so captivating and each character truly charming. Everything seemed so plausible and yet so utterly enchanting too.
