I am struggling to find any redeeming qualities in this story at all. Lots of drop story threads, a writing voice that reads like it’s coming from a teenager with no life experience, and a plot that is way too ham-fisted at every turn. And dialogue? Don’t know her! This is an exercise in how many times a character can ask a question over the phone and how many ways the person on the other end can avoid it because the answer iS bEtTeR sAiD iN pErSoN.

This was not it for me.

A thriller with some very interesting characters with intriguing stories. The story swings back and forth as this patient advocate interacts then searches for a violent patient that has disappeared. Each of them has a back story that will keep you wondering exactly who should be locked up. Thriller with a liberable touch of horror thrown in just to make sure you stay awake tonight!

"Lucy's Coming for You" by Ashley Beegan is a suspenseful and gripping story that will have you looking over your shoulder, captivated by its dark and mysterious plot.

A social worker in a mental hospital notices a violent patient has suddenly disappeared. What is going on? And she quickly questions HER sanity when none of her coworkers will acknowledge the patient even existed. While wholly implausible, the book plot is original and somewhat entertaining. The book started out strong but dragged a bit near the end. It was a very quick read however.

I’m ashamed to say that this one has been on my Netgalley feedback list for a while now. And I really should have read it early because it was a very enjoyable book.

Lucy’s Coming For You is a psychological thriller but has some real horror vibes, especially the first half of the book. I read quite a bit of this at night in the dark and it creeped me out. So much so, I even had a nightmare about it. It became easier to read as the story starts to unravel. I love when a book starts revealing the plot and it totally makes sense to the brain.

This book has plenty of drama and great plot twists, all of which realistically fit into the story. It is also a book that has you second guessing the characters, flipping between different characters as the main culprit to even questioning Summer’s sanity. The ending, though not overly shocking, wasn’t predictable either.

I was on a bit of a run of mediocre books and, which I don’t think Lucy’s Coming For You will be my best read of the year, it certainly was entertaining enough for me to keep the pages turning.

I really enjoyed this book. I don’t tend to go for horrors as I mainly read at night. But I made an exception for this one and I’m glad I did. It was exciting. Very well written. The plot was great. Highly recommend

Lucy's Coming for You by Ashley Beegan is a psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns! The story revolves around Summer, who works as a psychotherapist in the mental ward of a hospital. One day, her patient Lucy disappears, but when she asks her co-workers, they insist that there is no Lucy in the ward. Is Summer going crazy, or is there another explanation?

Here is a terrifying excerpt from Chapter 1, which is from Summer's perspective:

"For a moment, I thought about trying to escape. Her cold eyes stared straight into mine. They were like two emeralds. Bright, serene, and angry. We stood in a showdown position reminiscent of the wild west fights from old cowboy movies. Not that I would ever watch a cowboy movie."

Overall, Lucy's Coming for You is a terrifying thriller with plenty of scary moments! One highlight of this book is the nonstop action. There were plenty of thrills before the climax, and I loved it. I did take off 2 stars, because the reveal at the climax was unsatisfying for me. If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of thrillers in general, you can check out this book, which is available now!

An average but slightly confusing thriller about a woman called Summer who works in an adversary for psychiatric patients at a hospital in Derby. A patient, Lucy goes missing and a big conspiracy between the staff deny there ever being a patient called Lucy. Seems simple enough but no.. way too much was going on in a disjointed way that didn't flow well. But it wasn't terrible by any means. I would give this 2.5 stars but rounded up to 3 stars

Unfortunately this was one of those books with a great premise and bad execution. It felt like reading the first draft of the book that hadn't been read through or edited once. There were inconsistencies in the timeline and it was pretty easy to figure out what was going on right away. I am also personally not a fan of books that jump point of views with characters but only for like one or two chapters in the whole book. There was a lot of telling and not showing. It felt like someone read the Wikipedia page for mental health advocates in the UK and the pasted chunks of it in the book at times. The characters, especially the mentally ill ones, felt like stereotypes. Hopefully as the series continues the author's writing skills grow but I won't be reading anymore of them.

Lucy’s Coming For You by Ashley Beegan
This was a book that I read last year and when I requested it I was not expecting much to come of it. I saw on NetGalley that it was pushed as a thriller and thought the concept sounded really interesting. I did not expect to love it as much as I did.
‘Lucy Clarke? There is no Lucy Clarke on this ward’
When a girl goes missing from a locked hospital ward Summer Thomas, an advocate for the patients, questions everything especially when it turns out that no one will admit Lucy ever existed. However, as she starts to look into the disappearance it turns out that there is so much more than what meets the eye. Especially when she finds out not only is she searching for Lucy. But Lucy is looking for her too.
This book had me on the edge of my seat for the entirety of the book and what helped that along is that all the characters in this book are likeable. You could feel all her emotions as if you were living alongside her; the fear, the anxiety, the constantly looking over your shoulder. DI Swanson is the lead detective, and it is really interesting to see the two characters develop over the course of these books.
Lucy’s coming for you kept me entertained the entire way through and was such a quick and easy read which made it that much more enjoyable. What really made this book interesting was the plot twist. You can not see it coming no matter how much you look into this book, and it blew my mind the entire time. This is my definition of an amazing psychological thriller as it keeps you guessing as well as making you worried about how the plot is going to play out.
This book was such an amazing debut novel which resulted in me giving it four stars. The great twists, the ending and the characters all made this such an enjoyable read. I will be continuing with the series as and when it comes out.
Thank you to NetGalley for the copy of this book!

I found this book a little confusing at times and the actions of the main character did seem very implausible - the plot was wrapped up at the end but couldn't get into this one

I flew through this book! Summer is a patient advocate in a mental health ward. She sees Lucy, a patient who has a troubled past, walking the corridors every day. Until one day she isn’t there. Summer is convinced she was a patient there, although her colleagues say they’ve never met a Lucy. Well, they did. But she died.

The premise of this is brilliant and I didn’t see the twist coming. The character development is clever and I liked Summer. I felt that the decisions she made were true to life and I worried about her over the course of the book.

The only thing that stopped this being a 5* was the way some of the healthcare staff behaved towards the patients. As a trainee psychologist myself, their decisions didn’t sit right with me personally or ethically and although it was necessary for the story arc, I didn’t like that aspect.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. This was a good psychological thriller with enough twists to keep you reading. Characters are well developed with a likable main character and some creepy villains. A fast paced quick read. I'll definitely be reading the next book in this series.

I'm sad to say, especially after such a strong premise, I found this quote boring.

The writing style somehow didn't feel finished, I can't quite put my finger on it but it just didn't quite hit the high notes like inwas expecting. It felt long winded and drawn out which was rather disappointing.

Thanks to netgalley and Books Go Social for the ARC.

I downloaded this book off of NetGalley and it was my first read by this author. I thought the book was interesting and had me hooked the majority of the time. It was a fun read even if it was a tad predictable. I will pick up more from this author in the future.
