I have watched the show, however not read any of the associated books for so I thought I’d give this a try. I was disappointed unfortunately and feel I would not like any of the books surrounding the series. The characters did not feel the same in the book as they do in the series however this may be because I’ve watched the series already and have a picture in my mind of who they are but I felt I couldn’t connect to them and this made me really struggle through the book.

I love Sex Education and thought this would be a book about the show rather than a brand new story.

Although I love these characters the book just lacked something. There wasn't the same whit and charm unfortunately.

I'm not sure who would read this unless already a fan or someone who is very interested in the show, so surely a limited market?
However, I do love the show and was excited to see this book available and then I panicked, what if this detracts from the show, or doesn't follow the characters or worse veers off from the show plotline. Thankfully, it doesn't do that and so it is an enjoyable read but it doesn't exactly add anything, it could have been written as a fan fiction alternative and probably been just as a good a read rather than a tv tie in book that has a brief snapshot of a trip in between the series

Books based on TV-shows or movies are a lot trickier than the other way around. Good books based on TV-shows or movies are pretty much non-existent. Knowing all this, I nonetheless decided to pick this one up. And let's be real: only big fans of the Netflix show would even be interested in this, looking for something to tie them over.

Sadly, I am sure that even the biggest fans would come away from this reading experience feeling disappointed. This novelization captured nothing of the spark of the TV show. The characters we all know and love seemed to have been replaced by pod people, and they were reduced to one-dimensional flat cardboard cut-outs of the original. The dialogue was very repetitive and unrealistic, never really finding a voice for any of the characters.

As soon as I finished watching season three of Sex Education on Netflix, I felt instant regret at having binged it all at once. However, I then remembered that I had this book ready to go. I was a tad worried at first that the characters would seem forced, like strange caricatures of the TV programme but that wasn't the case at all. You really got a sense that they were the same characters that we all know and love.

I really hope another one comes out in time for the next season as I will definitely be picking it up!

Having not seen the Netflix series but curious about the hype I thought I’d give this a shot as I’m far more of a reader than viewer. Obviously the characters were unknown to me but they came across really well on the page and above all it was funny. This obviously isn’t going to be to everyone’s taste as it doesn’t hold back but there was a far more clear plot than I expected and in honesty it was written well for teens but to a good standard.

A fun companion to the TV series. The story takes place between seasons and the characters feel the same as watching them on screen. While not developing the characters or the series' storylines, it was fun to have an outing with the main four.

A fun, easy read. Perfect for fans of the Netflix show, this book follows the much loved characters on a new adventure. The characters are a quirky and likeable as in the tv show and the humour is very similar to that of the show. Perfect little gift for anyone who loves Sex Education

Super fun read as a fan of the series I was excited to read this one! Maeve gets an unexpected call from her brother Sean. It's no surprise to her that he is in trouble again. But she's the only family he's got, so she must saddle up and ride to the rescue. Or at least, scrounge a lift from Aimee and drive there .... Otis and Eric insist they can help, and Maeve's mission becomes a summer holiday road trip.

Sean's been partying with a group of decadent socialites who have now accused him of a crime. The evidence against him is pretty damning. Trying to clear his name, Maeve and friends integrate themselves into the rich kids' circle - it's time to go undercover. Thanks to Eric's dance floor moves, Aimee's easy charm and Otis's ability to offer good advice, they get to know the group. And they soon discover that Sean is not the only one with a motive for getting even with beautiful party girl Tabitha.

This standalone YA/crossover story has everything fans love about the show: favourite characters with real emotional depth, no-holds-barred honesty about teenage relationships, brilliant humour and a great new storyline, plus a compelling whodunnit at its heart.
Wish it was downloadable to kindle though!

Premise. The only official SEX EDUCATION novel. When the screen binge is over, return to the world of Moordale with a brand-new story featuring the show's most popular characters

as someone who was enjoying watching this series on Netflix Inwas excited to see their was a companion novel to the series

I love when this happens. It provides so much more info and insight than you get to see in the show and introduces new characters and things and I wish more of Netflix series would do this like Never Have I Ever and Emily in Paris

I was so excited to read it because I was obsessed with the show and all of its characters. i was a little nervous that the book wouldn’t portray them in the ways that we’re used to and it would feel too different, but that wasn’t an issue at all. the writing style was super easy to follow, with short chapters and understandable dialogue- I think I finished it in like two hours so it was a great fun read.
all of the characters were exactly like what we are used to. Meave was a bag of angst, grudgingly going through all of the plans that Eric suggested (of course they included glitter and lots of out-going clothes.) Otis was still his awkward self missing social clues and Amy was just the cloud that floated around having no clue what was going on but still enjoying herself.
I think the storyline was super interesting, it really did link so well onto the show and it was believable. It makes sense that Sean would get himself into a mess and expect Meave to clean it up, it was interesting and super fun. It had scenes that were away from the main storyline and enjoyable to read, like the drag show and their trip to the arcade. It was nice to get a break from the details of the plot and the theft, to just read about the characters having some fun.
It wasn’t a groundbreaking book, but it was a super fun read.
