The Somerville sisters after a longtime avoiding home are forced to return when their parents decide to renew their vows. Can their cynical views on love which unfortunately are based on personal experience be overturned. Down to earth, straight talking characters make this book very enjoyable. Better than any therapy that you would have to pay for.

A Tale Of Two Sisters…
A tale of two sisters, love, relationships, family and, of course, of Christmas. A rather twee and sugary sweet tale but the strengths are really the nicely drawn and credible characters and the solid sense of place invoked by the author. For festive feels and cosy evenings by the fire.

Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. I didn’t find it engaging and didn’t match up to the other Christmassy books I’d read recently, so not one I would recommend, regardless of other highly starred reviews I had seen.

Maybe a little twee and unbelievable in parts for me but if you like sweet Christmas romances this is for you. Following two sisters and there romantic interludes.

Following in the footsteps of Reggie, one of the main characters in The Christmas Wedding Guest by Susan Mallery, I've decided to be totally up front about my feelings on it. At first I could hardly bear to read it; it was so cloyingly sweet and twee and full of Susan Mallery's well-used phrases, some of which make me want to run away screaming. And then there were the dogs. As far as I'm concerned, animals should be banned from the pages of romance novels. They're not sweet and they're certainly not romantic. As for dressing dogs up in clothes and pretending they're human, I find that wrong on so many levels. And one more thing - Seattle is really not that far north and the numerous mentions of its latitude making the days short was just irritating.

Having got all that off my chest I feel better! So I can also tell you that I almost gave up on the book about a quarter of the way in but, as I'd signed up to review it, I persevered. And actually I'm glad that I did. Yes, it was completely unbelievable when looked at rationally but gradually I was hooked and, for the duration of my reading time, I completely believed in the plot. The thing with Susan Mallery is that, in amongst all the stuff I find off-putting, she writes great characters. Reggie and Dena are fairly average sisters with an average background; there's no overblown trauma or drama in their background. They are the kind of women you might meet anywhere. And where we meet them is Wishing Tree, somewhere nearish Seattle. And that's the other thing that Susan Mallery does very well. She creates not just places but also a very strong sense of place. And I think that is why I keep reading her books.

A lovely, heartwarming Christmas romance! Rather than one heroine though, there are two - sisters, each facing their own challenges in terms of their family. I loved the cosy, small town setting and the uplifting, festive feel of the book. Just the thing to cheer you up on a dreary Winter evening!

Such a cute romantic tale. A slow wander through a couple of months in the lives of two sisters in snowy Wishing Tree, complete with Christmas decorations, amazing dogs and emotional baggage. The two sisters - Dena and Reggie are fabulous and you cheer them on all the way through pushing them through the trials and tribulations that the way to happiness has for them. The star of the show is Belle, Reggie’s Great Dane, who deserves her own book to give her a plot and romance of her own.

I’ve read (and enjoyed) a couple of books by Susan Mallory before, so when I saw The Christmas Wedding Guest, I had to give it a go.

I really enjoyed this book. The thing I loved most was the relationship between Dena and Reggie. They love and support each other through everything, and appreciate their differences. They are both strong, brave women who go for what they want. I loved them both.

The other characters are all well realised too, and I liked both the male leads. Toby especially, he’s been through a lot of difficulties, but he’s all about looking after his son.

The setting of Wishing Tree was great, so festive and Christmassy. I loved all the traditions, and the B&B.

Overall, this was a festive, Christmassy tale of romance and friendship. I definitely recommend it.

I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
This is such a fabulously well written story. The author is at the top of her game. Personally I like a little more open door and sexual tension moments in my romances, but this was okay.

I found Reggie to be a well drawn heroine, adult and clever and with lots of emotional intelligence.
Dena struck me as ridiculously naive and oblivious to Micah’s obvious interest. it was hard to understand what Micah saw in her. The episode with Electra jarred - it seemed so unlikely and unbelievable.

This is a cosy romance which will please a lot of SM’s readers.

This is lovely Christmas romance with a difference. The story is well paced and the reader’s interest is kept throughout ,as the characters various life problems are revealed as the story progresses. It has a lovely Christmas atmosphere created by the descriptions of the village- a place where I’d definitely like to live. It has likeable characters , especially the lovely Grady. If only there were more single men in the world like him! Just the book to get you in the Christmas mood. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to preview this book.

Reggie is returning home after being dumped a year ago. Shes hoping all the fuss has died down and she wont be the talk of the town. Her parents are getting married again, mainly for the party afterwards and her sister is single and pregnant, the turkey baster way.

The setting for this book is adorable. The village is Christmas mad, they dont have a village square, the have a town wreath and steet names are Christmas themed. It snows every Christmas and you cant add any snowmen decorations until the first snow. So when the sisters meet new men, you cant help but root for them.

Grab a blanket and a hot chocolate and snuggle down for the most delightful Christmas romantic comedy. So uplifting and loads of feel good moments its like having a hug in a book. I loved this book.
