Engaging illustrated book which will appeal to children, containing 30 simplified and condensed stories, and covering the Old and New Testament.
Keep the Bible on Hand
Favorite Bible Stories is a great mix of various Bible stories. The writing format and word choices are easy for the littles to understand, and the illustrations are lovely. This is a great book to introduce the little ones to various Bible stories. While the book does a great job with the stories, using the Bible along with the book would be something that will add more accurate details that can be used in the sharing of the stories.
*I received a copy of of the book from NetGalley. All comments and opinions are strictly my own.

Well, my inner Catholic was very pleased with this interpretation.
First things first, all the people were of the right skintone.. no white skinned blue eyed Jesus and his people over here.
They chose some strong stories but balanced out the angry God part in the old testament. I mean we don't wanna scare the bejesus out of anyone right, especially not at a tender age.
And i speak from experience. I wish they had this when I was a kid, instead of showing us the crucifixion on weekly repeat as loud as the speakers could manage at a tender age of 7.
So parents who are looking for a good intro to the bible, look no further.
I grew up reading different Christian kids books. For example, I loved books like Discovering Jesus in Genesis or Grandpa’s Box. So I was excited to read Favourite Bible Stories! Unfortunately, while I enjoyed the story format and the illustrations, I had a hard time with this book. At its core the Bible is a story about God, specifically Jesus, and I think this book focused too much on the human characters. For example, the book never calls people sinners or even tells the greatest Bible story about Jesus’ death and resurrection. Jesus is never even referred to as God, only the Son of God.
There are a few inaccuracies as well. When the story of Jesus’ temptation is told, the order of the temptations is wrong. Also, the author took some liberties with the text such as adding additional words. I do not believe this is always bad because occasionally it makes things helpful for little ones. However, parents should have a Bible on hand to explain the difference between God’s Word and man’s words.
So while I think the story was entertaining and easy to read and the illustrations were lovely, I cannot recommend this book. I really hate giving bad reviews but because they're talking about the Bible I have to be a little bit more discerning. Ultimately, all storybooks about the Bible should be about the gospel and Jesus, and this one did not do this at all.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
Old and New Testament stories with colorful illustrations. Would be a good addition to other family devotions.
Thank you Lion Hudson Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Favourite Bible Stories is an absolutely delightful children's Bible Story book. My son and I enjoyed reading a story every night, and found that each story was the perfect length, giving enough detail, not too short, not too long. I also felt like the stories flowed well into each other.
Highly recommend!
Favourite Bible Stories is a children's compilation of the most popular Bible stories. The stories are told in a way that is easy for children to understand and the illustrations help to tell the story. I do wish there were more illustrations throughout the book. Overall it's a pretty good retelling.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.
It's a lovely book.
Great help and personally being a Sunday school teacher I'm always on the lookout for more Bible stories with different types of telling.
I love the way stories unfold simple and hard truth in a effective way without altering the truth
Firstly a huge thanks to the publisher for my e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book called me out in the best way possible. It felt like coming home because it was full of wonderful illustrations and stories we grew up hearing and reading in the bible. I loved that the stories were simplified, packaged in chronological order, and beautifully illustrated. These stories are familiar and definitely belong on nightstands everywhere. . I loved this book so much and I highly recommend it
