I really thought this was a slick, well written thriller, with a strong female lead that would pass the Bechdel test. I thought it was a good book, that is well worth the read, with a solid thriller element.
Thank you Penguin Michael Joseph and Netgalley.
A very slick novel, which was very well written and had me hooked.
First book by this author and not my last.
Definitely recommend
It was very fast paced An exciting thriller to get your teeth into. The book was well written and played out well
A Kiss After Dying is a page-turning revenge thriller with well-drawn characters, a strong female protagonist, and a sleek and twisting plot.
Shy and quiet Hannah goes mostly unnoticed, and that's just the way she wants it. She's out to seek revenge against the billionaire who ruined her family, and she is leaving nothing to chance.
Due to a family passing at the time, I was unable to download this in time before it was archived, and having only returned after several years away due to it severely affecting me, I am now working my way through those reviews I was unable to get to to detail the issue. Thank you for the opportunity, and I look forward to working with you in the future.
A Kiss after Dying is a revenge thriller. Unfortunately, the narrative was unbelievable and the story too slow to engage my interest. I failed to finish.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.
I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.
Thanks to Penguin Michael Joseph and NetGalley for ARC.
This is billed as a revenge thriller and the heroine is described as 'kick-ass'.
Hannah feels her family has been betrayed by another, much more powerful family, and through her life she has bided her time and plotted revenge. This book sets out how she does that.
It's preposterous from start to finish and I can see why some people loved it. Luckily money is no object for anyone and everyone is the best and the brightest. I finished it, but afterward wondered why I'd persisted.
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. This was a good read, it drew me in from the beginning and the story line unfolded well. I enjoyed the writing style and would recommend it!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC to review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the storytelling, narrative voice, and the characters felt real and full. Very fast-paced and fun!
A Kiss After Dying is a phenomenal thriller from start to finish. Filled to the brim with twists and a captivating plot, this one is sure to keep readers hooked. The characters are well-developed. The story is incredibly fast-paced. This is one not to be missed! Highly recommended! Be sure to check out A Kiss After Dying asap.
I enjoyed this book, even though it was just the most preposterous unlikely story ever. Really hard to imagine that a female assassin would do what Hannah did, let alone have a sister who was equally skilled. I found it a good, if silly read.
Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!
I can see why this revenge thriller gets so many 5 star reviews. It's clever, twisty and well written. However, for me, it didn't quite hit the sweet spot. It was almost too clever, too twisty and a bit too verbose (or maybe I'm not clever enough!).
The concept is good, the revenge predictable, yet somehow unexpected. I'd recommend reading but with the caveat that this is a female protagonist crafted in a rather stereotypical way from a male perspective. It is perhaps aimed at a younger audience than me - millenial language and references abound. Don't overlook it though!
With thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
I don't often give 5 stars. The novel has to be exceptional but this one really is.
Fell for every twist along the way in a way that was so absorbing I really didn't want it to end.
Superb characters, excellent plot and an incredibly clever writing style.
Will certainly look out for more by this author.
Loved this! This novel is exactly what I want in a thriller. A strong, female protagonist executing a revenge-is-best-served-cold plan. Fully fleshed-out characters. Extremely well-written. And jaw-dropping twists and turns. What a fun ride!
I enjoyed tgis book. Full of twists and turns that kept the reader guessing throughout. Really enjoyed the charcater developmeny and the fastpaced nature of the book
A great read which keeps you wondering. Hannah is a quiet, unassuming, mousey like girl, excelling in everything she does. She likes Ricky. She is a manipulator. Ricky is a billionaire playboy who gets everything he wants and he wants Hannah. Ricky eventually gets Hannah but also gets more than he bargained.
A brilliant work of fiction which keeps you focused on Hannah and her conniving. She is determined to get revenge for herself and her family.
The book is cleverly written with great characters. It is full of twists with an intriging and clever ending.

I love a good revenge thriller and this sounded like one I would absolutely devour. Although it didnโt quite work as well for me, I still enjoyed the read.
I didnโt fly through this one as easily as I thought I might have. I found some bits rather wordy and overly descriptive - it slowed the reading right down for me and made it feel a slog to read in parts. There was, however, enough mystery and intrigue surrounding the plot to make me want to carry on.
The twists were cleverly done and put at different intervals throughout the story. This definitely helped to keep it interesting and for me, helped get over parts where I was struggling. The end picked up the pace really well, it was thrilling and twisty - definitely made up some marks!
Overall, I found it a really interesting premise and clever plot. Something didnโt just click quite right for me, it almost could have been shorter to make it more fast paced and thrilling. Itโs still a good read and would definitely say to give it a go if you fancy it.
A Kiss After Dying has gotten a lot of very high star reviews, but unfortunately this was a book that didnโt really click well with me. I found it hard to engage with, difficult to motivate myself to pick it up and a little frustrating.
My main issue with the book was the narrator Hannah, who seems to suffer with main character syndrome. She is irritating and difficult to empathise with: we are told over and over again how good looking and smart she is, how she is trained in so many martial arts, speaks lots of languages, is a chameleon and good at manipulating and killing people. She felt very much like a fantasy female character written by a man than a realistic portrayal of a woman. She doesnโt seem to have any flaws or anything a reader can relate to. Even the main โflawโ at the end seems to just solves itself and this leads to very little stakes to keep a readerโs interest.
I also found the story a bit bland โ the revenge element is interesting, but the plot is very progressive and linear. Thereโs a part near the end where a twist is signposted but then you just hear exactly the same backstory again from a slightly different perspective and donโt seem to gain any extra information.
Overall, I found a Kiss After Dying to be a bland story with an annoying main character and very little plot to back it up. Thank you to NetGalley & Penguin โ Michael Joseph for the chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
