This was one of the first Covid as a plot line books I read, and I think it was maybe hitting me a bit too soon! I think it's a really interesting book with a fun premise, but I struggled to disengage my own feelings from it.
Unfortunately I could not get into this book and ultimately did not finish it. Other readers may like this more.
Megan Hardcastle has been married to Christopher for four years, but Chris has become increasingly more controlling towards her. When Megan discovers photo's of her estranged identical twin sister on her husband's phone she wants answers.
Leah has everything that Megan wanted, fame, fortune, and freedom to do what she wants.
Eventually the twins agree to meet in a remote cabin. But at the end of their rendezvous only one twin will prevail. But which one?
A brilliant twisty thriller full of revenge, jealousy and hate. At one point I had a jaw dropping moment where I was completely gobsmacked!!
An author I will be looking out for.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
Absolutely brilliant with so many twists and turns. It made me miss my Tube stop, which says it all!
This was good. It wasn’t the most amazing boom I’ve ever read and felt like the overall story could have done with some tweaks but I overall enjoyed this. It was a quick easy read.
Could not put it down, thoroughly enjoyed it. Twists, turns, plots, numerous suspects, kept you guessing, and although I guessed the baddie, ... I also suspected nearly everyone else as they all seemed to be guilty! Loved this and highly recommend it. Had me ignoring the world!
A fantastic debut novel. I could not put this book down. A superb read that I have highly recommended to all my friends and family,.
I wasn’t sure about this book but requested it and got it and I am so glad I got it. Absolutely brilliant storyline I loved it
This book is a wee gem.
✨ Twins (obvs)
✨ MURDER
✨ Pandemic vibes
Leah had it all. The fancy lifestyle, the fame and the money that comes with it.
Megan had nothing. Apart from jealousy.
The only thing they have in common is that they're identical twins. That's where their relationship pretty much ends.
Things escalate. Murdery things happen and before the cover-up can commence, lockdown kicks in throwing a spanner right in the works. The only thing Megan can do is become Leah.
Honestly, this was a tense AF book with loads of twists and turns that you'll come away with whiplash.
If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat, look no more. Her Perfect Twin pulled me in instantly and wouldn’t let me go until the very shocking ang twisted conclusion. Jealousy, revenge and betrayal fill the pages with twists that had me gasping out loud. To say this was a page turner is an understatement. Very entertaining and highly addictive! Thank you NetGalley for my copy.
To be honest when I started this book I wasn’t expecting much but wow was I wrong ! This book is so cleverly written with loads of twists and turns from the POV of each of the characters loved it !
A thrill of a read and a masterful debut from the author.
The story revolves around estranged twins Leah and Megan and Megan's toxic husband Chris. After years of toxicity at the hands of Leah, Megan snaps landing a deathly blow on her twin. The only way she can cover her crime is to become both Megan and Leah, no mean feat especially as the country is placed in Lockdown. Told from varying perspectives the story skilfully unfolds. A must-read. Many thanks to netgalley and the publishers for an advance read copy.

I can't believe this was Bonner's debut novel. This is the dysfunctional story of identical twins with a vile, abusive husband thrown in. I really enjoy thriller plots revolving around twins - my Mum's an identical twin (here's to hoping it runs in the family) and I find the bond and connection fascinating, especially when crime is involved. This was told through multiple perspectives from Megan, husband Chris, Leah, and Chris' lawyer and to experience a first-person perspective into a psychopath's mind was both disturbing and chilling, but also fascinating.
Faced with multiple truly unlikeable characters, the definition of "unreliable narrators" and the dangers and drama of covering a crime (always anxiety-inducing, but even more-so in a pandemic with travel restrictions), the plot was fast paced and well developed, with the character's motives well matched and set out well within the timeframe. I don't know if it's just me, but I absolutely can't stand any mention of the dreaded C19 in books - I deal with it 24/7 in my job, already do everything I can to avoid the news and read books for an escape, so normally would be hugely put off by the pandemic aspect in a plot BUT I felt this was so well written and engaging that I could put it aside. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of Bonner's work.

A really good twisty turny debut. So many different parts to this that I couldn’t stop reading it. I’ve sent an email to my friends saying GO BUY THIS! A strong 5/5.
Her Perfect Twin is twisty, clever and creepy as hell. I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting.
Megan is married to Chris. Megan finds photos of herself on Chris's phone...only they aren't her...they are her twin Leah. Megan confronts Leah about her relationship with Chris and this takes a murderous turn.
The premise of twins was brilliant, the idea of one becoming the other to change her life...also brilliant. The execution of said ideas in Her Perfect Twin; not so brilliant. I found the first portion of the book engaging and I could see if was building up to a big plot twist BUT for the ending of the book to work, Maggie's impersonation of Leah has to be flawless, she is trying to convince her own husband after all....from the second half of the book its unbelievable and too neatly tied up. In a situation like this, something has to have gone wrong. The murder wasn't planned so how was the execution so flawless? This for me brought the rating down. I also didn't understand the need to have the perspective of the lawyer in there at the end.
The final chapters were page-turners albeit I didn't like the characters I did want to find out what happened.
The story starts out slow and it took me a while to really get caught up in the life of Megan. But, little by little, I started to dislike her husband, Chris. And when mote background about him was revealed, I hoped he would get what he deserved. There was a moment I wasn’t sure what to believe. I don’t know if I like Megan, but I definitely understand her motivation in everything she’s doing.
Fantastic read, full of twists and turns and one that I couldn’t put down. Such a thrilling and gripping read and one that I highly recommend to readers of this genre.
Great characters, great storyline, great read!
Stunning debut novel.
Many thanks to Hodder & Stoughton and NetGalley for the review copy.
This was a compulsive page turner. I never knew where the story was going but I was so invested. Incredibly twisty, well written, and I'll definitely be reading whatever Sarah Bonner writes next.
It is shocking that this is only Sarah Bonner's debut novel. The story is thrilling and compulsively readable. What happens when Megan discovers pictures on her husband's phone of her estranged twin sister? The story is told from the perspective of all the main characters. The story is incredibly twisty and unpredictable. Highly recommended!!
